Ther meta characters have units like kazuha to buff their damage so much. For example hu tao got a new artifact recently, ganyu’s kit synergizes with a lot of artifacts cus of how simple charged attack mechanic is. Xiao’s damage was inherently very high cus he didn’t deal with elemental reactions. I’m saying this cus xiao can’t take advantage of elemental mastery. Em boosts the damage of melt and vaporise so much. Sucrose ,venti ,jean etc are able to do so well with viridescent venerer which shreds enemy res to the swirled element. Amazing supports like xinque, beidou etc are all amazing units having very good teams. Xiao doesn’t have a team. It’s just other units who synergize with xiao put together . They don’t necessarily “buff” xiao. And there in lies the problem . Xiao doesn’t have characters who take his damage to the next level. That’s the problem. His own damage is probably the best in game. But he doesn’t have other characters and supports to increase his damage. Btw he is one of my favourite characters and I’m gonna try on his banner when ever it’ll come
I’m not sure about a Anemo support buffer but I do think Xiao should get a new artifact set~🤔 Something that gives a massive boost to his overall Dmg. Like the 2Pc should be something like the 4Pc Shimenawa while the 4 Pc adds the percentage of missing health to his Atk or something~😅
Yeah Xiao needs to get a new weapon as Childe and Albedo have, for support I think Yunjin will be a good teammate but she is geo, so yeah we need another element support that can boost Xiao a bit more directly
i think it’s bc they are trying to get people to spend their money on new characters that are more efficient in abyss like what they did with kokomi 🤷
Nope, THIS abyss is too hard. Corrosion and new mechanics hinder older characters abilities. It has become situational based now.
Your viewpoint is of a cracked genshin player who has insane characters at disposal so you know where he lacks. Xiao still feels amazing, heck diluc feels amazing for me( I'm pure f2p sadge)
Abyss is the cause for this not the older characters. I think its a marketing strategy by mihoyo

his best set is 2glad 2shimenawa because the burst has a big dmg bonus
Xiao's set should be
2pc 20% E dmg (Xiao burst doesn't boost his E)
4pc after Q for 15s plunges grant 10% CR, stacks 3 times (so 30% CR)
Also jade spear forces you to AA, fuck that (still an upgrade for my Xiao LOL)
Xiao new spear could be
674 atk
44% CD
Passive: causing elemental dmg grants 10%atk stacks 4 times, plunges creates a vacuum that sucks enemies

The Problem with Xiao is the Lack of an Artifact Set that he can take full advantage of, and the lack of supports that Synergize PERFECTLY with him, because what he needs is dmage increase because you don't focus on Swirling.
I agree. What Xiao needs is a dedicated 4-piece artifact set, a better 5* weapon, and new support characters that buff anemo damage done by characters whether that’s done by anemo resistance shred or directly buffing the main DPS anemo damage attacks or both lol.
mihoyo hates him he probably is never getting a new set or weapon unfortunately. His constellations besides c6 (and maybe c1) all suck. They could make a set for him hella easily they made it a leyline buff once – > plunge shreds defense by 7% per plunge stacking 5 times or something.
for me, xiao is literally the reason why I can 36 star abyss consistently.

well xiao is falling off cause he doesn't have his own dedicated set yet. Maybe in the near future he would get one or if mihoyo introduces another Anemo dps char with their set that works with xiao amazingly, like Albedo currently.

Tbh I would like the idea of Beserker (or possibly other 4* lock artifacts like Instructor or Martial Artist) to become 5*, this may not entirely help Xiao but it will be kinda like the Cryo stat stick set for him. Espically with his base 24.2%, the 2 and 4 set bonus on Beserker can give him about 60.2% Crit Rate which can allow him to go focus more into Crit Dmg kinda like how Ganyu does with her Freeze set.
True. My Hu Tao + Xingqiu doesn't feel much stronger than Xiao. But my Hu Tao with Homa + Xingqiu + 4VV Kazuha + Elegy Amber does, and by a looot. And she'd get even better if I gave her 4-piece CW. Or got Freedom Sworn or simply more EM for Kazuha. Meanwhile I don't know what to do for Xiao anymore and he's still behind her in team DPS. He needs a dedicated artifact set, supports and 5* weapon. Though, I must say, I think it's amazing that he's still competing with other meta characters/teams even though he lacks all of that. I hope mihoyo eventually gives him the love he deserves. The fact that nothing procs with or benefits plunge attacks is so annoying. He can't make good use of Beidou, Xingqiu and now the upcoming Yunjin
Honestly I barely 36 stars Abyss with 5 sec left on the clock with Xiao plunges:
Team Comp: Zhongli, Xiao, Sucrose and Benny I need a decent anemo batt
people say he's top 3 dps all the time when I hear this I always feel like they don't own Xiao cuz he's falling off, my abyss timings have been getting worse and worse with him and using an Inazuma character like Raiden or Ayaka ends up feeling more rewarding.
from the leaks I've seen there doesnt seem to be any new weapons for him or Arti sets and with Yunjin being geo it doesn't look like he will even get a dedicated support like Thoma to hu tao, which is very sad.
Also if you check spiralabyss statistics hes like 17th most used which reflects the powercreep and he drops each patch….
