i have tart but i still going for ayato… because i know he is broken and i have jade cutter… one thing i did noticed that ayato is not that mych f2p friendly because of lack of access to good 4star swords
Edit : I don't know why you are so negative about ayato… he strike 6 time by the time ganyu does one charge shot…so he is far stonger than ganyu when he is on dps window… yes ganyu has access to shenhe, melt and all but don't forget it's still early game…you never know when mihoyo release a broken hydro dps support like shenhe… my suggession for any new player will be if you don't have any good dps yet definatly go for ayato..he is one of the best pick at this moment
You talk to fast, so it's hard to grasp any point you're making.
However, I would say Ayato might be a valuable character because he's a hydro. Having access to freeze and vape is enough to consider having him for me. So far the least useful hydro character would be barbara since her hydro application is terrible when she's off field. The rest is an excellent hydro unit. It's breath of fresh air to finally have a new character for a neglected element.

I have Tartaglia, he's my main. I don't have Raiden, and I think Raiden is worthier. But why do I go for Ayato?
I joined genshin Impact October 28, 2020. I've been a long time meta slave until I stepped AR 58. I questioned myself, will be I be happy If I go with the current meta trend? I figured out "No". I don't know if Mihoyo made a mistake having Xiangling, Xingqui, Bennet, Rosaria in game, but the fact that these characters shines until now made me realize It is perfectly fine to pull to whoever I want, because these 3 will dominate the game for long long time. I trust myself.
Another issue is the number of female unit in the game, I don't know how many female characters will Hoyo gonna make as addition but for me, we haven't yet reached to word "balance" is it because of harem Aether getting. In the end of the day, I probably enjoy hanging out with my female friends using male character, it makes me comfortable talking to them.
Third issue, Hydro unit. As much as I love Xingqui and Tartaglia, I can see that Ayato will be pretty similar to them. I am not saying that they both offer the same thing, but if you pay attention on what could Ayato can offer in your team, digesting his skills and passive, I know that he is worth. I don't care about ICD, I don't care if his Multiplier are low, but a long duration Q, low cd E, off field energy regeneration, taunt, a slash that doesn't push enemies away, we will take more patch to get a good character like him.

Idk why he don’t like ayato, you can keep his uptime 100% if you build him right and he is not even released and yet may be buffed further.

Some of your points are valid but some of them are just negligible. his burst is a great buff for the team and applies lots of hydro. the fact that he's hydro alone makes him more valuable. also you have to farm a hydro cube not the oceanid so it's really not that bad. Also you're way too negative about a character who's not even released yet, which is just as bad as being too positive about yae miko when she wasn't released yet.

He is literally competing solo dmg wise with Xiao and Itto but he is way more flexible thanks to being Hydro and has an off field burst.
I think the problem with his burst can be solved because he has access to Anemoma Kageguchi
absolutely not, childe vs ayato is not even a competition, childe's downtime is his major flaw, compared to ayato who has hutao levels of downtime. he can deal more than childe in terms of consistent dps.
