The appearance of Ronova, the Ruler of Death and one of the Four Shades of the Primordial One, was certainly the highlight of the Archon Quest: Incandescent Ode of Ressurection. But what’s even cooler is Thrain challenging the God of Death and forcing her to submit to his terms, simultaneously granting his warriors peace and eternal life to the Lord of the Night, Yohualtecuhtin.
Being able to finally see what the power of one of the First Descender’s Shades looks like, helps confirm a number of hypotheses which we’ve had for quite some time now regarding the nature of the aforementioned Descender. Particularly thanks to the parallels between Ronova and the Sustainer of Heavenly Principles.
Thanks for watching!

i saw a theory about how the shades have different characteristics of a biblically accurate angel and with ive been thinking about it since. ronova being the eye, istaroth being the wings, the sustainer being the bands around the angel and paimon possibly being the crown. whats your opinion on it?
bro never disappoints with his lores and speculations.
btw, will you do analysis on the suspicious parallels between Amphoreus and Teyvat based on the HSR trailers?
I think people are looking too deep into ways to bring the captain back when it is actually very simple. He is a part if the Lord of the Night now, as a seelie she can manifest a humanoid form, especially now that her power is greatly reinforced. But she has a duty, so she could just manifest him in physical form to do things for her.
Hear me out:
Capitano in HSR
World of warcraft by Hoyoverse confirmed
I didn't have as much problems with the AQ, (apart from Mavuika, I think she is an uninteresting character) as I did with the sheer lack of gameplay. Literally nothing to do apart from teleport here, talk with this character, teleport here and talk again. Genshin's biggest flaw is the pacing and the lack of actual things to do during the quests. over half of all that yapping could be played on the background of gameplay. Just throw in a dungeon or something to do. Anything. If not, then at least give the players who are not interested in the story to just skip it. One of my friends, a day one player, quit because he couldn't take the yap fiesta anymore.
So, if the Night Kingdom is completely separate from Irminsul, does that mean any memory changes made in Irminsul wouldn’t affect Natlan? Since they’re not connected to the ley lines and are independent of Irminsul, could they remain unaffected?
Also, if all pure-blooded Khaenri'ahns were cursed with immortality by the Shade of Death after the Cataclysm, how did they die? We know they did, because the Captain carried their souls with him for 500 years after the Cataclysm. So, does the curse of immortality only prevent them from aging, rather than making them truly immortal?
around 24:00 having alhaitham deliver the joke to the NPC and the weird zoom in made me laugh ngl xD, love the editing and theory even if i dont agree with all, good job, keep going 😀 <3
Do you think Guthred's appearance during the 5.3 AQ and saying he is not the "real Guthred" but a manifestation of the stories of him by the Natlanese is another possibility to how Capitano could come back? I think it was Mavuika who said that they have stories of a hero named Thrain. It was strange that Guthred had to appear because we weren't even connected to him in any way, but they had a whole minute dedicated to explaining why he was there. The only question is how to put that version of him onto the world with a physical body.
I rather you compare capitano to bolvar as arthas was a lich king for corruption reasons while bolvar had to sacrifice himself to contain its power but with no corruption involved
With what we know, the "original" Capitano will almost certainly not return from the dead. BUT ! His body is still here and there's two entity that could use it without breaking the establish lore:
Yohualthecuhtin since they've merge together could use is body if something catastrophic happen on the surface.
And like for Guthred, Thrain has a "Hero of Natlan" of him Somewhere in the night kingdom. So Yohualthecuhtin may give him the favor to use is real counterpart body for some reason.
i think thrains sacrifice was seen from a mile away and thats the only thing i didnt like
OK, ok, here we go
14:41 also the question that i might able to answer, right now 👁
but also not (this is actually quite huge now that i think about it, because it involves Fischl's lore which then intersect with the entirety of the game lore, this might be just too much)
I really want to say something about alchemy but what I was about to say might be, very much, a spoiler (judging by the game predictability, and since everything I'm trying to say is purely based off the game lore, it's all there especially if u guess it right)
And this is actually not at all to negate everything you said about the heaven power being the rubedo (i think it's true and make sense) n rubedo being the peak based from what Rene said (magnum opus), BUT why I said the color 'red' is remotely important from the other colors/alchemy stage is bc, it mean so much more than,
So so so so much
This is not a drill, if i put them altogether comprehensively, it would make SO MUCH sense!
So I'm not talking about alchemy this time, but just little comments

I, haven't meaningfully adjust my theories to Natlan lore (I haven't really read their lore in-depth ._.), but I notice those theories still holds up so well, to say the least. Yap, one of them was the last time i rant about Focalors, and it's getting relevant more than ever. And now, it's involving none other than Ronova herself.
21:23–21:32 This is actually a very good argument, but what it if I put on my glazed Ronova glasses and say this:
> Ronova is a Shade, her power is beyond archons and even the dragon sovereigns (I still can't get over the fact that shade of life easily scooped hydro dragon sovereign off the sea and then put it somewhere/or killed it? to make another one from it, i always find it so funny 😂🤦♀). And this Shade (/Ruler/ of Death herself) also the same one who lend a fraction of her power, to knock Gosoythoth a whole. If it had been Rukkha/Foca, we already know how their story would ended (ultimate death/forgotten)
>To make it more clear, last time I said that to solve Natlan's problem, Mavuika either had to make or find the source of the sin and then destroy it all at once. So until Natlan, I wonder if they would do the same thing as the 2 previous regions or entirely different thing? and the thing, happen to be Capitano. In Natlan AQ act 4, the game suggest that the possibilities to save Natlan is either to kill Mavuika or Yohualtecuhtin (transactional, based on Ronova's rule). And now, of course, we have the best price to pay. The one who wanted to die the most to pay the death, for the Ruler of Death.
So it will be like this:
– make/find source of the sin and then destroy it: Rukkhadevata, Focalors, Gosoythoth
– transactional: Rukkha's existence, Focalors' existence, Capitano's curse
I suspected that if Mavuika want to pull a Focalors, she had to make a clone of herself first (if she truly had to be forgotten, n she should be playable, just like how we have nahida/furina, n so far genshin only have living playable chars). And it seems like it's never occurred to her to do that bc she already accepts her death.
And then since it's not Yohualtecuhtin either, it's Capitano,
But then why Capitano also not forgotten after he paid his life force? 🤔
Because I think it's: Rukkha=FK, Foca=Original Sin, Capitano =/= Gosoythoth
And, the fact that Rukkha/Foca double their existence (becomes the sin itself) and convert it as elemental energy for their people is WHY they became forgotten (details probably will be written later). In Natlan, it was Ronova's power to knock Gosoythoth out to oblivion, and it was Ronova's curse (also a kind of sin i guess, bc it's the same curse for abysslings according to abyssling) she inflicted on Capitano which then she convert it as Yohualtecuhtin's eternal life force (Capitano just a mere mortal btw, it's the curse that's immortal)
20:46 I don't know what actually happen but I accidentally become Ronova defender so what if i say this: So this Shade of Death, personally "overstepping" her authority for the well being of Natlan (Natlan probably shouldn't exist for human i think (?)). Taught Yohualtecuhtin how to Leylines (Night kingdom), gave some of her power for Mavuika to knock Gosoythoth out, but now 'no longer care' for the fate of Natlan almost at the end of it, and somehow her victim, who wanted to die so much than the other two, who has her curse, conviniently put it to Yohualtecuhtin so her life span can stay forever
Which makes Natlan very successful and had the best ending ever, I feel like it's not out of her interest to see Natlan to have this kind of outcome 🤔
Ok, obv what Capitano did to Ronova + traveler as the 'odd variable' is not out of special occasion. It's quite literally the highlight itself, but! I'll put it like this: I feel like when she knew how to Ley lines alone (or it's kinda different to build the night kingdom(?)) is very something (remember fate weaving), Mavuika can't pass seeing future from Natlan's Yohualtecuhtin, Nahida, the spirit of Irminsul itself is also not immune of its modification (but she knew how to outsmart it based from what she did to Scara so still sus), She got 6 big eyes, probably beyond the firmament, I feel like she, kinda, saw the outcome already 👀
I'm just gonna straight to say that even traveler themselves helpless against the Sustainer, and "somehow" we get these special titles and things like beyond this world (which i might have something to refute it) oh so /special/ that they will overturn the will of the world by themselves (with the help of paimon ofc)
And, regarding the 'paradox', which is obviously the highlight of it all because how come Ronova, the Ruler of Death herself, subdued from such thing from a mortal (I feel like she knows just well, yeah, 😶). Funny because for so called 'paradox' of the curse of 'immortality', when it's more like extremely slow erosion (which is not sound immortal to me, correct me if I'm wrong) than it's quite literally being //immortal// (like, where's your immortal flesh bro 🤨) So, i wonder if his threat is even a threat at all, or it's rly was a happy 'coincidence' for him and Natlan
(AND of course, this 'paradox' would be very relevant for the future lore) (actually not pass from what about to say about alchemy, Rhinedottir/Rene, my Focalors rant, I shouldn't say it nor insinuate it but IT DOES-)
Sigh the guthred pronunciation
You, who bear the curse.
Once the fire is linked, souls will flourish anew.
It is your choice..to embrace, or renounce this…
Great Sovereign, take your throne.
What lies ahead, only you can see.
34:54 I KNOW RIGHT?!
Like,Aether,my man,THAT chick up there was Sussy-chan's bestie, maybe you could ask them something, anything?Maybe ask on wtf happened with the Primordial One?
And Ronova just sat there like "oh,that's the recent Descender huh.anyway-"
Seriously one of my complaints for the act 5.
THANK YOU FOR THE LICH KING REFERENCE!
The notion of a lore meta made me chuckle. XD
I wonder 2 things regarding Traveler going unnoticed during the Ronova scenes. 1: is she ignoring us because Paimon is a sleeper agent and is doing her job unawares, so Ronova doesn't care to interfere? OR 2: does Paimon have a misdirection function/aura that made us go unnoticed in that moment for our safety (in which case, is Paimon in hiding too)?
Or of course it could be Hoyo being Hoyo and making Traveler forget to ask important figures for information again😔
Ok, Bro totally popped off in the end there with the lich king section. Now I'm really hoping that mwongozo is indeed for capitano.
While paralles with Frozen Throne are undeniable, i prefer to see Captain as reference to Bolvar Fordragon from Lich King expansion – when allied forces led by paladin Tirion Fordring defeated Arthas, it was him who ecided to sacrifice himself and become new lich king, but was interrupted by Bolvar (literally like leader Mavuika was ready to die but was stoped by Thrain). Bolvar flesh was cursed due to dragons and tortures of Scourge, and thus he couldnt coem back to live in society, thus he decided to become Lich King (like Cap merging with Lord of the Night) and keep Scourge under his control, not allowing it to hurt people (like Cap's sacrifice allowed to fix Ley Lines which are first line of defense agaisnt Abyss).
As we know, later Sylvanna came and broke Helm of Domination, essentially denying rules of this world… And guess what, we have rumors that another Harbinger might come. What if it will be Columbina with its unknown powers, and she will do something unexpectable…
What I was missing was an explanation of where his power/element comes from. By his own admission he no longer uses his heart for power (he said he was much more powerful 500 years ago). Then how does he stand toe to toe with Mavuika, using what power? The coloration is foreign to us too, not really matching cryo (even though Arthas wields ice).
I want to participate in your copium inhaling. I also noticed the Arthas references, but had forgotten about the dragon and the name Xilonen made. We can only hope!! I saved all Natlan for him and now… :'c
I don't really care whether or not Thrain becomes playable like he's finally free of his basically 500-year long insomnia, he deserves that rest as much.
Ok, but whats up with genshin wanting to use 6 of things, but only sometimes? Like theres 6 halo thingies in domains and I think 6 eyes on the tablet behind the trees, as well as the 6 eyes on ronova, yet 7 elements, 7 archons.
Now heres a thought- are one of the elements artificial? Because if I had to guess, it would be anemo. Thats always been the least understood one, it just mixes up the other elements in reactions, and is heavily associated with higher powers like time and the transference of souls. Could Celestial have introduced it themselves as a tool of their own in Teyvatt?
I think 2 things are going to happen / happened.
1: Ranova and the Traveler. I believe there was a reason why the two never really communicated with each other. For starters, we know Ranova isn't inheritly evil, otherwise she wouldn't have "lent" her powers to the Pyro Archons with the deal Xivalanche made, however, she also mentioned she would deny all agreements of them working together if the Heavenly Princibles were to find out. Ranova, if wanting to talk to us, would have to be careful on where and when it happens. Just talking to a Decender could cause some issues with the Heavenly being.
2: I 100% support Lich Thraine, but I don't think will get this. Personally, I think we're going to see Capitano again in regards to Dains quest since all the foreshadowing happened in Rainbow Destined to Burn. If not a meet in the Night Kingdom, possibly a memory (although, I wonder if dain will even show up in Natlan since the abyss has been kicked out)
Great video, but there's one thing I don't agree. It's not Thrain humiliated Renova but more of him giving her pretext to help humans. Remember that Lord of the Night said that Heavenly Principles weren't happy with Renova helping Xbalanque, no matter her excuses. This would mean that Shades aren't allowed to directly interfere with humans fate. So Renova wasn't there to claim Mavuika life but to witness fulfillment of the rule. She, like Lord of the Night said, loves humans but was already on censored. She could do nothing even through she praised Mavuika. Until Capitano appear and said that he will take Mauvika place and pay the price for her. Lord of the Night agreed as well, and what could poor little Shade of Death do? Argue that rule is the rule and it is Mauvika that must pay the price not Capitano and not accept sacrifice? Why would she do that? In one move she got a way to save her "angle"(Lord of Night) extending its life at infinite and secure future of humanity. And the best part? She didn't helped humanity, she didn't do a thing and by that she circumvented restriction placed on her by Heavenly Principle.
Prove? She allowed for paradox. Chlothar has already died, making exception to immortality punishment. Capitano was just another Khaenri'ah person, not even corrupted by abyss or really guilt of any sins against Heavenly Principles, so letting him die seems like the more wise choice then letting the paradox to take a place. Unless she either wasn't allowed to(which would be stupid as exception already exist) or she didn't want to stop paradox from taking place.
inject the last part of the video straight into my veins
All I can say is that Thrain is seriously the goat. What a man; a character so peak I would happily whale for his C6R5 should he return!
This is like really really random and doesn't really match with the video but while I was watching I realized that Genshin really is a fan of the number 4 (samsara's, descenders) which is kind of their only possible connection to the previous title of the game Honkai 4.
And it kind of makes sense since Honkai Impact 3rd takes place during the 3rd eruption (If anyone has any Idea about GGZ please tell me if they also have ties to the number 2). So perhaps the Honkai 4 is supposed to be about the 4th cycle of the samsara
Hear me out. Skirk (Surtalogi) use power of "Space" to shrink narwhal, Vedrfolnir transcends "Time", Rhinedottir create "Life". Am I onto something? What if 5 sinners got comparable to Celestia (PO and 4 shades) power. In that logic Rerir might be possessed with "Death" power, with his moon connections. Hroptatyr — "The Wise" should acquire obvious "Reason/Logos" power. Very fitting.
My favourite moments in any of these videos are when he gets hyped.
27:52 IDF also doesn’t
2:31 how did you get him white?!?!
Before I forget, I wanted to mention that we maybe saw Istaroth’s form in a video from like 2 years ago ~ it’s a stylized Statue of the Omnipresent God with red eyes in the wings (versus visions)
11:43 this note explains a lot for me. I didn't know because I won't do the quest to keep Ipssismus Tower
