The Genshin Impact TCG is getting some hype… but I truly believe it will fall off rapidly. Call me a hater, but I think it is an unfun and unbalanced mess. I am pretty salty because it feels like so much time was spent on a minigame that some off us have zero interest in.

  1. Does anything genuinely make you happy? I'm asking this as a realistic question.

Because you seem to just hate on everything that doesn't fit your needs and suddenly your problems are the entire communities problems.

  2. Soooo, it's just another system like the fishing one where people did it to get the one time only rewards, then forgot it was even a thing in the game?

Then the idea it will be a player competitive system is hilarious. In other games that may be what the system was added for, but in Genshit, the super casual, zero challenge, "we don't want to give players anxiety" game? Hah!

Genshit is just a collection of mini games, things to consume a small amount of time, for a while, to help fuel your efforts towards collecting characters, just for the sake of collecting them, and messing around with them a little in a no challenge world. That interview a while back basically told people that's how miHoYo views it, and trying to play something for something other than what it was designed around may work for you for a while, but eventually, you'll find it just doesn't work anymore. Looking at comments here, people just keep saying the same things they've been saying for over two years now about Genshit, "all they have to do is add/change _____, then everything will be so much better," then seem to convince themselves that day will eventually come. No, it won't, people will get the one time only rewards, then forget it is in the game, until maybe at some point they add some new one time only rewards, or use it in an event.

    PS
I quit playing Genshit ages ago, and don't miss it at all. I just like Mtashed, and am so glad he finally, finally says he's moving away from this stone around his neck.

  3. Theyre just making everything way casual to the point where theres still nothing to really do, you either finish super quick or get bored super quick. And i didnt start playing an open world rpg only to end up playing a card game lol. Glad a lot of ppl like it, genshin just doesnt interest me personally as much anymore. Idk how they can put so much effort into making a card game but more challenging combat/ endgame is such a difficult concept.

  4. The dice is really not as much of an issue. A second layer of RNG (the usual card draw on top of dice) is still within reasonable bounds how to throw variety in TCG's. This has been done in other games, which have not been adapted into videogames but still saw success in their day and age. Ashes Reborn was quite a success in my local boardgame pub group and it uses almost an exact same system of Genshin TCG (in fact, I think GI just copied the design and added the active character system to it). I don't like how you state this matter-of factly without proper research. Your impact on the community is rather large, so you should take the necessary research before you doompost like this.

The main problems we have in TCG is:
    – The existence of 3 (or 4) turn wipes. This makes the game WAY too hardcore. This means it will drive away most people once this norm is fully adopted, and when not enough people are interested in it anymore, Mihoyo will stop developing it.
    – A lack of good, variable support/event cards. At least half of the support/event cards are just flat out bad with the current pace of the game, because they require several turns to pay back, while the game rarely lasts 6+ turns, nor does it have the amount of card draw to really go as deep as a 9-turn battle. You did say this as an issue, but you use the wrong arguments. It isn't just RNG-mitigation, it is also that the rest are trying to achieve a thing that is not realistic.

You definitely can get better dealing with RNG, mitigating RNG and making the most out of a ruined RNG ("getting diced"). Even with Normal Attacks, you can win the game without having to rely on Minty Meat Rolls.

EDIT: I just want to add that the game is still new. New TCG's often have these super rudimentary strategies that end up being the most effective way to play, until they get more cards. Once Genshin TCG adds more support cards that actually have a value, decks will diversify a lot more. When Hearthstone released, SMOrc builds (Hunter especially) were so oppressingly dominating, because the most powerful system it had over others is "I can attack 1 more time than you" — which looks a lot like GI TCG's current "meta".

  5. What honestly killed the TCG for me already is the timegating. I'm done, have been done since Monday and honestly at this point I have almost already forgotten the TCG exists lol

  6. I thought i was just really bad at the card game at first because i was struggling so bad, then i had a really good day where i beat everyone with ease and was like oh awesome so i dont suck. Then I had really shit days where i wouldn’t get a single die i could use almost every single game i played, so i thought i sucked again and it was the team i was using… then my husband said wow thats a real shitty card game to relay so heavily on what dice you get to win or lose. i also told him there’s RNG in the cards you draw too :/ He barely watched me play the matches and figured out how bad of a card game it was. Lol

  7. tbf I used to think the die were the reason i was losing.Yes it was, but as you play more you kinda learn there are still things you can do, I started to reroll die, (you can also get some cardsfor this) and you learn to do as much as you can with the shit die you get given. You can get cards that give omni die, or reroll die, so you learn to use these to your advantage, and learn to make a good situation out of a good one I will say the annoying this is needing a weapon, artifact or attatchment of some kinda and not pulling it, sometimes i pull too many, sometimes i dont.

  8. Yeah. It's been a week and co-op has already devolved into pretty much the same 3 decks. It was fun for me for a week, but now I'll only play for my primos and be done, which doesn't necessarily involve co-op, so there we go. I definitely would have preferred the dev time put into the actual game.

  9. Genshin made the TCG genre not fun. I've played all kinds of TCG titles and had fun with them all except for the one in genshin. Not so immersive and not to mention the dice system they have. I feel like you don't need any understanding or skill to play it. It's mind numbing

  10. There is no future for genshin and i have never seen one since i started playing on day one but i was hopeful because it was a mihoyo game but after 2 years there is no hope of that remaining so i am just waiting for their new games playing my honkai and having fun not being miserable.

  11. If you want a good example of adding a new gamemode and it being super successful and get supported with new characters added you can look at elysian realm in honkai impact. They tested out the mode with on and off events and then added it permanently with streamlined mechanics and a really good story to back it up.

  12. mtashed im gonna have to be real with you here. Ive followed you for almost a year, you were the vry first genshin content creator ive watched because of your unique sense of humor and your honest takes on things. I know youre the black sheep in the eye of Mihoyo and youre pretty much blacklisted from all streamer, creator/dev related content, and that youre starting to resent the game. Please, give yourself a way out. For the past 2 3 months you kept trying to pump out either hate content, or fking obviously clickbaiting title and thumbnail, just to shit on a game all the while throw in as much sponsored ads as you can. And its not just me, your own subscriber count is falling, I was looking forward for you to reach that 1M mark, and day by day your sub count just keep declining. The very same fanbase that you yourself grew is now tired and leaving you.
I dont wanna hate on you, youre a very funny person and a of course a dad who has to look after his kids and family. So please, from the bottom of my heart, while you still can, give yourself a way out. Stop making bullshit clickbaiting content and preserve your legacy as being one of the most viewed genshin content creator

  13. As an MTG player(and a few other from time too time) for over 20 years, TCG's with strategy as the main component are what tend to survive the test of time. You said it perfectly. You can't think several turns ahead 99% of the time with this game. It's frustrating. I'm going to collect the Primo's from it, and then quite! never looking back, unless i'm offered more Primos. And I have almost all the cards, multiple decks and have breezed through the PVE, and even a good handful of PVP online, where the good decks all do the same tactics.

I would have loved to see them put all this TCG effort into making a co-op abyss dungeon that they change every 15 days instead. maybe a couple puzzles and a hardcore boss at the end.

  14. Idk I have like a 95% win rate in the online matches mode with 4 different decks over about 50-60 games. This game is way less random than you made it out to be. The card pool is really restricted, and yes every deck runs that same 20 of the 30 cards to deal with the dice. If the card pool stays this small yes this game will totally die pretty quickly. However it's not that random.
