Hoyoverse Fires Massive Number Of Employees Without Warning! – Genshin Impact

It has been reported that Hoyoverse has laid off a large number of employees without any prior notice. Typically, when large-scale layoffs occur, companies will publicly explain the reasons behind them. This lack of communication has left many people shocked and possibly feeling that Hoyoverse’s approach was unfair and lacking in transparency. While the reasons for these actions remain unclear, such measures are often taken due to shifts in the company’s strategy.

  1. Anonymous HoYoverse Employee Review:

    – Layoffs are happening without any communication, leaving employees unaware of what's going on.

    – If you're not based in their HQ in Singapore, communication isn’t prioritized.

    – Global teams are impacted by internal politics, even when they had no involvement.

    – While holidays in Singapore are acknowledged, global holidays are not.

    – Employees are often messaged to be online for non-emergent issues.

    – Be prepared to work late nights, as once the team in Singapore is online, you need to be too, even if it’s outside your regular working hours.

    – The late-night work and communication issues aren’t one-off; they happen every day.

  3. nope, it is not because of AI it is because Live Service games had less demand last year, because a lot of reasons, mainly no more pandemic as well as more live service games on the market such as wuwa, that dilutes revenue. Less Income, means companies need to cut costs.

  7. it REALLY depends on the SPECIFIC context. theres SOOO many things in game development where AI can help but NOT replace workers or help in a way that recquires creativity. A lot goes into game design and theres lots of tedious things no one particularly enjoys doing but arent exactly big enough to be its own job either, ai is perfect for this.

its not the same as ai generating character designs, voices and story and replacing humans passions.
im hoping its only the former that hoyo are looking into

  8. They're going lose everything in the end first the people who play their games then they're going to lose their company Then they'll be forgotten in history AI is not revolutionary it's just laziness and the death of creativity

  9. remember a game is a software, so expect bad practices, people who only press a button as a job, QA devs who doesnt dev at all, bad translators, nepotism, be careful, people who didnt work well and people that just move on will get a dev job soon, tech industry is so big that the good devs will be fine and the ones who complain all day in social meda wont

  10. Yeah, that's it, I'll stop buying welkins.

As a consumer, my only weapon against these corpos is my wallet. The more people stop buying stuff in retaliation, the better a chance we got to see some change.

  11. Maybe the people that keep mistranslating characters dialogue, such as referring to Lumine as he, which has occurred several times throughout the entire game, will be among the ones that got fired. Not to mention all the times when a character says something, but the dialogue at the bottom of the screen has an entirely different word. Seriously, if its the VA's fault, get them to say the right freaking word, or if its not, translate the right freaking word in the dialogue, it's not rocket science.

I'd expect these kinds of mistakes from an amateur indie dev game with like a handful of people working on the entire game, not a game dev with an entire studio working on it which earns millions with every character they release.

  12. As long as you're not within the HQ offices, most of the communication are within emails. Shifting to AI is good and will definitely be a good career as long as you're an enthusiast or pursuing it.

Therefore, if this is the reason for Lay-offs — most of the details are in email. Non-Communicative laid offs iwth regular employees usually get this reasoning. For newbies or non-regularized comes down to performance or just manpower restructuring.

  13. Since the artistic and creative aspects are always important to me in such games, I can't imagine that I would want game content that is completely generated by AI. AI does nothing other than steal from others and create new, mushy content from it. I don't want to support such greed for profit anymore.
