So, HoYoverse just made waves by arresting over 30 people for selling cheats in Genshin Impact. Yeah, you heard me right—actual arrests. Not just bans or account suspensions. They’re not playing around! Let’s talk about what went down, why it’s such a big deal, and what this might mean for the gaming community.

  1. Hoyoverse is the Nintendo of China. I wouldn't mess with their IP at all or they come at you with full legal pushback especially since China tracks every transaction of money used with Yuan its native central bank digital currency (government controlled crypto where they control and track all your money all the time)

  2. Fairness? Keeping game clean? Hoyoverse, Pay attention to what inappropriate content people make online of your games. That's why Genshin Fandom gets hated so much on, for their dirty, pathetic, and disgusting mind. These are the reasons that people stop playing this game, lie about not playing it or being called pervert creep to play these games.

I'm truly disappointed by you, Hoyoverse.

  3. I don't think Hoyo cares about cheats as a concept, or because it's a security risk to players (though it may be the official statement).
The point is that if you have cheats that can substitute a purchase, then Hoyo conceives it is lost revenue, which is not necessarily the case for all players (there are people who would not buy anything regardless), but if they allow it to grow, then it can become notable revenue loss.

Genshin may be easy, but people still buy C6R5, where R2-R5 is most of the time purely damage at the end of the day, and many constellations as well, meaning that a cheat increasing damage is a 1:1 replacement of money spent on the game in normal circumstances.

Teleporting doesn't sound worthwhile until you realize that exploration convenience is literally behind a paywall of certain characters, and even partially region locked with Natlan. Someone who restricts that for profit won't take the risk of any percentage of potentially paying players just teleporting around. It may ruin the experience to do so, but as long as Hoyo thinks a sufficient number of people would do it instead of pulling for exploration characters, they're going to try to prevent it.

I generally don't think cheating in a singleplayer game should be frowned upon, as the only one you may ruin the experience for is yourself, but since the whole gatcha model is about giving the game free and milking you for certain content, hunting down cheats makes perfect sense in this specific realm. Whether the concept itself is good or bad, is a different topic.

  5. "why would anyone want to use cheats in genshin impact?"

man, have you SEEN spiral abyss? I'd be real fucking tempted, some of those later floors catered almost exclusively to current banner characters are a crime against humanity and when primos are in such short supply after finishing exploration and quests…. I get it, I really do😂😭

(not defending it. don't use cheats, even if it's to get through a really scummy end game floor. I just understand the temptation is all)

  6. Genshin is meant to be a visual novel. It's not a game. 99.99% of the time, you'd be reading those 100 billion dialog lines for 20+ hours while clicking and clicking and clicking while seated on your computer.

  7. Not worth it, you can't get the same feeling as working for a goal and you just lose your account sooner or later, only reason I would guess they did it is just to play it and be done with the game.

  8. I get cheating is bad and everything, but whole arrests seem so excessive. Especially for whats essentially a single player game. Could have fined them, sent a cease and desist, etc. If they're going so far as to arrest tthe cheat makers, then players are 100% next.

  9. Honestly this could be a good wake up call for the other game companies who aren't doing much to stop people from cheating in their games. Cheating in general has started becoming a big issue among many games
