Hiding In Plain Sight | The Simple Reason The Traveler Uses The Dull Sword A Genshin Impact Theory

Genshin Impact’s Traveler has long used the Dull Blade for what seemed like no reason at all… until several months ago a user on twitter happened to share an eagle eyed catch with me. In this video I’m going to share their catch, in order to share with you all the definitive reason the Traveler’s original blade has not returned thus far.

  1. I just hope someday in the future, we can get that sword via exploration or through the story, not in gatcha and not a 4star. Players deserve that 5star weapon for sticking till the end.

  2. God I'm so freaking ready for more details from hoyoverse 😭
EDIT: every time we talk about how rare/unlikely something is I'm always like… Istaroth…
I personally hope we get the traveler's blade BEFORE we get to all seven nations
Like a much needed buff to anemo and geo traveler or something before we visit Snezhnaya
Tinfoil theory time: what if the fatui got their inspiration for delusions from the travelers' blades?

  3. I can't be 100% sure if it was me, but I have once pointed out to you that the sword was missing, both undera video of yours and on twitter.

Although, twitter doesn't load as far back for an active user to check it.

  4. For now, this just means that the sword itself was replaceable. If they could let go of it, and if the traveler still succeed with a dull blade, this means that the sword they used was probably symbolic or sacrificial somehow

  5. I think the travel will eventually traveler will get a sealed/broken ver of it that will eventually go back to full power/be fixed or find different sword that will eventually turn into the traveler old weapon by magic or forging. Also have the traveler use it a second burst or skill so the player can have their own weapon but have weapon that makes since in cut scenes.

  6. My theory is since there is one more Oculus (Anemoculus Electroculus and Geoculus) than what is needed to level up the Statues i believe in Khaenriah or Celestia we will be able to offer up an oculus of each element to regain the original sword.
which would then be a collective best in slot for the traveller no matter what element youre using.

This sword would also be f2p friendly since all it requires you is to collect one of each oculus (tho i could see the offering only be unlockable after reaching lv 10 on all statues thus collecting all the oculi) and doesnt demand more

  8. i thought people had problem with the traveler using the dull blade because it's stupid not because he had the sword in the intro cutscene. I think people had already acknowledge that he cannot bring the sword out due to some reason probably because his lost of power. If mihoyo did not want the traveler to use event only weapon, they could have make him use harbinger of dawn since that is the weapon that kaeya gives us. If we want consistent, mihoyo had already botched their cutscene with razor because the first time we met razor, we use the 2 star sword and i don't think mihoyo had changed it or maybe they had alredy forget about it. personally for me the issue is that when the traveler use the dull blade is that it look like the traveler never took the fight seriously even during life and death situation. the only reason i could justify him using the dull blade is that it symbolize the traveler as not fully awakened his power thus referring he current self as dull.

  9. I always thought that his original sword was created with his original power, just like his wings. And instead of it being taken by the Unknown God, it just disappears after he was caught in the cubes.
But if it's a material sword, rather than the sword being thrown together with Lumine, I'm thinking that the sword might be kept by Unknown God somewhere.
And if Paimon is actually related to the Unknown God, it might actually be inside her this whole time.

At 6:39, what do you mean by if Lumine had left him sleeping in the meteor? Is the meteor referring to the 2 shooting stars from the beginning of the game? But what do you mean by Lumine letting Aether just sleep in it?

  10. I just thought that since our chosen twin lost their power meaning we reverted back to Square 1 or others might say Level 1, the sword that we originally used also lost it's power which is why it reverted back to it's dull simple beginner blade appearance and that might also be the reason why it's always the same blade that's in every cutscene connected to every IMPORTANT QUESTS (e.g. archon quest not the simple events that we get for the sake of primogems e.g. irodori festival, etc.)

Edit: That soundtrack of Ruu @ 7:11 still hits me hard

  11. Heres why the MC dont have their original sword
They lost it to the unknown god when they dodged that attack, while the abyss sibling got caught with the sword and themselves…
    So, they've sacrificed the sword
    Adding up
Kaeya said abt a sword falling from celestia 500 years ago
    Thats their sword

  12. Nice hint at Istaroth at the end of your vid, definitely something that could either get explained soon, or get explained very, very much into the future

  13. Imagine kaeya's story about the legendary sword was actually true and that's why treasure hoarders easily believed it because they know it existed in the first place. That would be cool.

(From the man who watches to many telenovela :D)

  14. Does anyone remember the quest with Kaeya? He mentioned that his grandfather found something (I think a sword) and when I read this I thought damn would be a big coincidence if he found travelers original blade. I mean they lost it and its not a big possibility, but.. maybe it really was relocated somewhere so that people like kaeya's grandfather could find such a sword
