Since i was a late joiner in 1.5 i was pressured to rush through the content so i could catch up with everyone else and get to the archipelago to play with friends. I played the game for about 4 months until i lost 50/50 to kokomi’s first banner. I came back 4 months later when i heard she was coming back and i played for 9 months straight daily. now i am catching up on sumeru but on my own pace. I feel like this video has encouraged me to try and finish my characters and maybe pull for new ones to feel like it was last year again where i was focused on making my characters good but not rushing through content in the process.
As a veteran player that joined in 1.1, i actually still enjoy the game. I will admit i do speed through content and get bored when there is nothing to do, but i can always use that time im not playing to do other things. I really love the characters and the story, so even though there may not be any more endgame content that is combat orientated, ill still around.
People don't have fun because the habit forming psychology in the game keeps them playing but the game does not offer enough content to play every day for years. It's entirely the game's fault, it's intentionally designed that way.
Again. The best way to play genshin is to play it as a side game and dont put even a single dollar into it. Log in for 5mins and out.
During weekends. You can do events and quests for 5hrs then out.
The more time you spend im game the more frustrating it gets.
I treat genshin as not a game anymore but a collection app. As collecting is the only thing that gives me reasom to play.
Sounds like Soul is burnt out as a content creator for genshin more so than a player experience. After 2 years of playing for myself, I still look forward to the new events, music and contents every patch.
I find it fun cutting things up with my Eula instead of meta teams. I'm glad I can stay chill in this game.
I'm sure many player veterans feel the same as me.
Genshin will reach a point where it cannot welcome new players. Genshin's running machinery is marketing. All the game's graphics and open world is fine but it's the characters that would sell and appeal more. When we reach Fontaine or Natlan , newer players would easily be discouraged after getting their new Fontaine/Natlan characters. Yes, there are reruns with the character but preference weigh more. Resources are tight and not as generous as one would think. Time is a more valued currency to casuals. Being gated to particular upgrade materials, will eventually kill new players who want to play in singleplayer. These new players will eventually have to find friends in game in order to access materials. Since world level cap exists, this would hurt new players.
Hoyo does not care about veteran players as they expect their marketing to bring in new players to replace them. Replace their "hype seats" in their marketing drips and streams. This is also the reason why the idea of "Anniversary" for them is not as important and was stale af. They do anniversaries with new players and their staff; not with veteran players. People are blind to see but Hoyo has another whole meaning when it comes to anniversaries.
The updraft item exists so f2p don't have to pay for that effect.
I hope more endgame content or satisfactory content shows up but I also wonder why Genshin can't be consumed casually once you've reached the mountain top?
hey thats me
I must be somewhat casual I can’t see myself ever running out of content in this game lol.
it'd be nice to know actual data about how many are joining, the distribution of all player's time (day, week, etc) in Genshin, distribution of payments (eg income from whales, income from occasional change). The casual player is the most important. The game will get most money from casual players who occassionally want to tweak their chances. Whales won't contribute much. It's like the motor vehicle industry … luxury car owners might pay top dollar for their possessions, but they're small contributors to the overall motor vehicle industry. The industry generally caters to the mass market, not the elite. The same will go for Genshin and how it manages its game.
Bro…did you lift the whole peace peace thing from Soul lol?
I've been playing since 1.3 and I'm just here for the story and enjoy the exploration, and the characters slowly but surely.. I am definitely not an endgame player. I'm also not here for the combat in the game, I mean yes I do enjoy it.. but it's not the end all and be all for me. Only thing I care about is the bits of lore and story in it.
For how many years will we have this conversation? This has been an issue even before Inazuma comes out. People should already understand what kind of game this is. This is why I'm playing Tekken 7. You know my Genshin endgame content? It's Tekken 7. hahaha. Don't push yourself guys. The good thing about Genshin is you can drop it anytime, and also pick it up anytime too. Cause you won't get left behind even if you stop playing for a year.
This is why i couldn't find this video and had to come inside ur channel to check this video.
This game is definitely perfect for me. I'm very busy with work and also currently playing DFFOO Global and JP at the same time. Even if I managed to 100% all of the regions, I can just simply immerse myself. I only need to play other games if I get bored. Simple.
this is like every gacha game. click bait at its finest. I saw the vid. the guy is an idiot too. lol
The problem is that leaving a game you played for long time is completely normal. It just loses its appeal and you don't find it fun regardless on what's actually happening with the game, if there is new content and mechanics added or not. The wrong thing many people do in such situation is they blame it on developers because they still remember how much fun the game was some time ago and they want that fun go on, thinking it's fault of the developers that they're not adding features they'd like to see in the game, that they don't add the fun. What they completely miss is that the problem is inside them and that it's completely natural development, nobody's to blame of anything.
One thing I can see is that Genshin developers actually put a lot of effort into retaining their playerbase. They can't completely rewrite the game every two weeks but the events, however little time they require, are always new, even the repeated ones have things changed in them. We get new areas, new quests, new characters, new monsters, the game is changing on regular basis.
But once a player develops immunity to Genshin, nothing of it will help. The aversion to old repeated content like commissions will outweigh any novelty. And the more they force themselves to keeping playing the game, the stronger the aversion grows.
Having started a few days after the release I consider myself veteran player. And I don't see anything forcing me to quit. I know I will quit Genshin eventually just like I quit multiple games I played for years before. It just did not happen yet. And when it happens, I'll just leave and find some other source of entertainment, just like I did many times before.
i think that, the popularity in genshin is still increasing and theres absulutely no way that the genshin will be dead game
Content creators who wouldn’t have made it big if not for Genshin, make content about “Genshin being content creators’ nightmares”, continue to benefit from these Genshin-related content 😂
i did watch his videos, but theres not just anywhere to use these chars, a lot of them (mainly the new 4 stars) are just bad unusable. Even kokomi, one if not the one prettiest design chars, has no dmg scaling outside her burst so if i just wanted to explore with her, run around casually and whatnot i have to use her burst and xq/yelan battery. thats not one of the worse offenders like dori, sayu, thoma (no burgeon does not save him) and barbara, and dont say "this char does this" cuz i know wut they """can""" do. ppl settle for way too low of standards when all i want is fun elemental gameplay interactions and teams but cant cuz every character is colored physical normal atker.
Evertime veteran wanted to quit ita because they finished the content no matter its end game or not. Evertime a new patch is out the veterab claim Nother thing like they are having a blast. Due to hoyoverse experience in making game, they knew end game wil kill the game faster than ever like diablo immortal end game which have hidden gacha behind it. When veteran finish or hav a taste of end game they wil end it if they finish it or trial of 10 times and fail it. They wil response with completion or pay to win.
Dude idk what is it about this game but the combat just feels so smooth and nice that I find myself with 30% exploration and spend most of my time redoing the abyss over and over for fun w different teams. Would be nice if we get some other combat end game like a zombies mode it something
It's not even about endgame for me, it's about the terrible content. I'd be a lot happier if the events were fun and the story was engaging, but they're not. The events are terrible and the repeatable content never gets updated.
Dudes complaining about finishing a single player game too fast. No endgame, etc. My guy, you're just describing a multiplayer game. Go play those, because that's what it sounds like.
Getting tired with Genshin depends a lot on what content you like to do in it.
If you are mostly interested in fighting and abyss already feels like a chore, the battling events happen few times a patch but many feel that they are too easy and do them in few hours. Especially if you have more whale-level characters that instakill everything. I can see you getting bored.
I’m close to AR60 but after 2 years of playing and GI still enjoyable to play. I think it’s because I’m more interested in lore and story.
There are lull times when it’s just a quick run on dailies. But then we get new story quest to really dive into. I never skip dialogue and read all the character stories. I want to find out all the little details hidden beneath the more general storylines.
I don’t get so easily bored because for me there’s a constant stream of new interesting content coming. Even the lesser events are usually bound to lore at least a little.
The Genshin Scientist makes pre-release guides lol, theres rlly specific videos on al-haitham's kit. Everything you need to know
After I watch his video.. like you recommended . What mostly everybody's opinion is, absolutely it's a content creator nightmare. But for me still after years of playing, I never felt that way. Because, not just that I love the game, it keeps my mind calm and at ease when playing. Like a kind of relaxation . When you think that you're happy and enjoying the game , you have this kind of self contented mindset. I hope that everyone could find a way or look on the other side, not just thinking of beating the game.
It’s interesting I enjoy genshin what it is and has become ( I live in Japan) I feel it’s important to state this due to difference in culture via games for me I got kids and a full time job yet I play genshin the new current genshin 2 times a month only for abyss not cause I’m
Busy because I reached the peak of power there a reason a browser game like gbf still strong on Japan genshin in Japan is everyone plays but no one talks much unless a big patch like lantern saddly visual alone will bring u a lot of money as for me it’s 0 money which is good I guess
The forced DAILY LOGINS combined with ONLY 20min playtime is the real problem!
In my opinion daily login rewards should be forbidden by law. Weekly or monthly is fine but not daily.
It prevents us from taking a break.
And no: daily logins are NOT casual friendly.
Let us play when we have time, on weekends for 4consecutive hours instead of 20min every workday.
its been very clear that this why you have to treat genshin more of a side game nowadays. when it comes to genshin I literally play it "casually" and just complete what I can do for the day. I recently been playing again a game ive enjoyed in the past that now is my main game. opinion wise there is nothing to stress that much if you just go with the flow of genshin rather then being hardcore with it.
the problem about genshin is no real end game, most player play genshin is for openWorld action RPG aspect not mini game or puzzle.
and thats reason why some people quiting genshin because its confirm no "Action RPG" end game rather than CARD GAME that no one asked atleast in Global Server.
comabt never gets old for me. gorou elemental burst, albedo elemental burst, zhongli burst, then itto burst. spamming them interchangeably never gets old. everyone same element, fast energy recharge
Wonder when's the "endgame" for these endgame wanters. It's about time. lol
I obviously can't speak for everyone but as a low spender in genshin it's beyond annoying saving primos for characters I want. Mini games and sub quest rewards don't give much especially when have to sometimes reach 75+ pity to get the character you really want (and that's assuming you even won the 50/50.) spending money in the game doesn't even feel worth it because spending cash on primos doesn't promise you anything.
I could deal with the lack of end game content, repetitive commissions and lack of voiced dialogs for the longer quests but miHoYo's greed is just a whole other level of ridiculousness
And yes I know I don't need a specific character to go through genshin's story but getting characters, weapons and wishing in general is one of the main reasons why genshin WAS fun. Especially when a new character comes out and brings something new to the game like dendro did wanderer.
The reason why "players" are quitting is because they are sweaty MMO people and want to see this game turned into that for more toxicity, it is clearly obvious that this game is aimmed at casuals and you numb heads cannot even thought of that idea in the first place…By nagging and nagging like that one grandma that won't come to terms that technology is evolving around her while she is watching TV with one of those dinosaur box televisions.
Hmmm I’m sorry I didn’t watch this vid completely or the vid that was recommended but from the title I can’t help but disagree.
The “veteran player” who are quitting whom walrus is referring to are people who are veteran whales and/or veteran whale content creators. I don’t think as much f2p or low spender veterans feel as burnt out or feel that they are forced to quit. I started genshin around oct 2020. Since a while I felt burned out and had nothing fun to do in genshin. I remember this past summer they even made spiral abyss way to easy. So I switched to another game ToF. At the start tof filled in places that genshin couldn’t satisfy. But it’s only since august since I played tof and I already feel more bored and burnt out then playing genshin. ToF is truly a gacha game for whales you need to pull black nucleus, gold nuc, and eventually the red nuc you saved to get as many copies of a character/weapon to increase your combat score. If you get only one copy of a weapon/character, your combat score drops by a lot. Combat and exploration are so brainless and boring in tof. You don’t need brains to fight just whale in weapons and you don’t need brains to explore there are barely any puzzles. To be honest I feel like genshin at least have me brainstorming on puzzles during exploration, team comps for spiral abyss, and better rotations etc. I actually see major improvements and satisfaction when it does happen in genshin. Tof doesn’t bring that kind of satisfaction. I eventually turned back to genshin since I’m still building characters like scara and cyno. I’m not a whale so I don’t have all the resources to lvl them up and I don’t have the best artifacts on them. Whales could get bored of them in three days but I find it hard to imagine diligent f2p/low spenders getting bored of them in 3 days. What really got me enjoying genshin all over again is the much harder spiral abyss (with double bosses and shadowy husks etc) and TCG. Honestly I was mad and dubious when they released TCG but I gave it a shot when I had nothing to do and I came to really enjoy it. It still has an element of randomness with the drawing of the dices and cards but you still need to think of a way to win with what you got and that requires thought and strategy. And the harder spiral abyss didn’t make me frustrated to the point of burnt out again instead the frustration drove me to figure out what was wrong with the teams I composed. Eventually I went to YouTube and found new but small content creators who dedicated different vids for each team comp for the spiral abyss. And watching all these vids and seeing the different possibilities to fight the abyss really got me pumped and excited to try such team comps myself. Somehow (maybe it’s just me I don’t know) but the new genshin content has breath new life into the game.
I think it’s been complained over and over again about burnt out and no content and I agreed at one point probably even up to 2 weeks ago. But I don’t know I’m starting to feel content creators ranting about their frustrations and as a viewer I started avoiding certain content creators who does that. Some content creators used to be very informative and fun to watch but has turned very sour and as a viewer I understand, I felt the same way, and it makes me upset. But I’m not interesting watching vids that makes me feel frustrated and upset…. I’m sorry I might come of a little harsh but it’s what I honestly think…
I LOVE that Genshin is a game for "busy people". Stops it from being a chore for me. Rather, I look forward to the time I spend on it daily. It's a break from daily grind. I have almost a whole island on Inazuma and parts of Sumeru content I haven't finished. I'll get to it when I feel like it. Started and completed Windtrace on the last day and had a blast with it. If it was more time consuming, I'd probably burn out of it like I did with ToF (which, to me, was ALL chore). I have enough characters of each element, so I don't feel the FOMO of new pulls and I have decent enough artifacts for me. I don't waste my time minmaxing. Might be fun for some people, but I don't have the time
This sounds more like a problem for streamers and content creators. If you don't have new stuff to make videos, do something else.
Stop spreading the problem of you guys to the average player. Content creators are the ruin of every game
Genshin Impact feels like a job after a while. Logging in every day doing the same mundane tasks in exchange for currency or to build characters with excruiatingly slow artifact system. It's just not fun.
i think its fine this way, and the way you're phrasing it is definitely one way to look at it. But also like you said, they've beaten the game, and the game is a free to play game even if it has a gacha system that encourages you to spend. It's like if Nier Automata was a free game on steam, nobody would complain about how there's nothing to do after they completed it. Just because you've spent money on the game does not give you any right to make demands. Mihoyo can listen to their fanbase, but it's clear they already have a set direction they are planning on going with this game. I also think Genshin Impact isn't a game that's really made for people to just play hours on end everyday, and I think being a content creator for it is adding onto the burnout these people experience. That said, it is a live service game at the moment so players are free to come and go as they please, they don't really miss much especially if they have indeed beaten the game like Soul.
from someone that played since 1.1 and have like 10+ unit with 50%+ crit and 180-220%+crit damage EACH.. and still alot of that kind of gear but the set didnt matched.
im strunggling, where should i use these unit. spiral clear, enemy ez kill,
genshin have good story.. but too much filler, and some even dont really stick in my memory.
the game is too boring for me, better play Epic Seven, 4 year playing and im still enjoying that game.
People have some wild expectations for this game. I’d say most of these hardcore players need to get into proper mmo raiding or something. I play genshin because I’m old and tired of the hardcore grind.
the content creator need to find a life, for someone playing genshin since 1.0 , this game is a casual game, it does not force to play 48 hrs. which is stupid, this Soul needs to find a life
Haha, I only play this game for one hour max each day, reaching minor destinations which i set for myself and then only really doin it if I'm in the mood for it, like mining routine or grinding for artifacts. Tbh I haven't even unlocked Inazuma yet despite having Yae, Raiden and C6 Sara all only level 40 with talents level 1 xD
When Yoshi P told players bored with FFXIV, or if they have completed all PVE content, they should take a break, play other games, come back in the next patch. This is viewed positively because games are not meant to suck up all free time from a player.
And when veteran players got bored with Genshin, somehow it’s MHY trying to cycle them out to get rid of their negativity?? Just take a break damn it.
After hearing Soul said he finished exploring whole of Sumeru, collected all Aranara and Dendroculus in two days, I stopped caring. These kind of ultra hardcore players are a neglectable part of overall player base, and I’m glad the game doesn’t cater to them.
I would tell you to stop playing the game if it makes you so negative, but you do you.
Good.
Let's rephrase your argument: Mihoyo's statement is basically, "have fun playing our game, see what we have to offer, if you don't like it, go play other games, go improve your life."
Which is almost the best attitude a gaming company can have.
God forbid if these "veteran players" want a "I hate you and you hate me but I still want you to pay me" relationship. roll eyes
As a college student Genshin works perfectly for me, everyday I do dailies, some domains and a bit of story/archon/character quests or events.
I find that new content comes faster than I can clean it
