  1. The way I know it works, it may only take one activist group to sit on it to get this game banned once it becomes a law. And sadly enough, there are plenty of people who hate Genshin just for it being chinese, gacha, and so successful.

  2. I follow politics pretty closely and I'm telling you right now it starts with TikTok If this bill passes nothing will stop the US government from basically cutting off any potential China Russia foreign adversary as they put it from having their products in America they could literally cut genshin Impact or any other China app Russia app anything they can just remove it from the app store without even a question or blink of an eye everyone seriously should contact your local congressperson and let them know you oppose this bill because if this becomes law it could easily get rid of the genshin e impact us thinking we are safe is where we are wrong

  3. There was a bill that said (paraphrasing) "block Tik Tok in the US". That's not the bill talked about here.

This bill depends upon a person to make the decision to ban something. If every politician were honest, this would not be a problem. The current guy that needs to make a decision is not opposed to Tik Tok and is not bound by any language in the bill to act against then. I'm afraid that this will become a political weapon so I don't support putting this much power to make arbitrary decisions in one person's hands.

  4. War Thunder is a Russian game that is in a similar situation to Genshin. Because the US is weirdly hostile to Russia even though China is their greater rival i would be surprised if Genshin was banned before War Thunder. Given War Thunder is currently fine, there's little to worry about with Genshin.

  5. You should be more afraid of the CCP catching on to the subversive stuff genshin is sneaking into their stories (akasha Chinese internet history policing, forcing the censorship changes and Hoyo putting in Yunjin to make genshin pass the Chinese culture requirements) and banning it on the China side. As scary as the US government looks like from your side the Chinese government is a lot worse.

  6. IIRC, back when Hoyoverse used to be Mihoyo, they were based in China. Now they have moved their base to Singapore where the registered under the name Cognosphere, but later changed to HoYoverse. It was to avoid criticism for creating Inazuma which is based on Japan, which the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) was not very fond of, and also to avoid CCP from taking action against HoYo for creating a non-binary character Venti, coz apparently its illegal to have a non-binary gender and/or homosexuality in China.
Anyways, the point is that, technically, Genshin Impact no longer has ties to China (apparently) and in the odd chance that it might get banned in the U.S., I'm pretty sure that HoYoverse shall have a strong case to get the ban lifted soon.
(I mean I'm in India and the government here does an audit on each and every app that has built-in payments system. And while ALL of the Chinese apps and games are banned here, I have never had any problem either accessing/playing Genshin or paying for Welkin Moon in Genshin.)

  7. I am starting to worry about whether I will still have Genshin but on the other hand, it seems less likely that Genshin will get banned. Hopefully, it doesn’t get banned.

  8. The bill won't pass. But it's important to recognize why this is happening… what the US sorely needs is a data privacy law. That's what we actually need.

  10. i like how you guys ignore the economical side of this bill, cause chinese apps are meta on US app markets rn and our fav lisard guy can't really compete against them. same story with huawei ban that was directly sponsored by apple cause huawei was becoming too strong too fast

  11. The saddest thing about this is if it does get banned, if you live in America you will not even be able to look it up on the internet. It will be completely wiped out of your life. The bill also allows the US government to control what you see and dont see anywhere on the web. So if they ban Genshin they will eliminated the ability to look it up as well. The US government wants to be able to control what you are seeing and doing on the internet entirely. If Genshin gets banned, you will not be able to access any websites pertaining to it, all videos about it will be taken down, it will be BANNED. I hope this sheds light on the gravity of the affects of this bill a bit more.

  12. Now I've done a deep dive into this Restrict Act and it seems that it primarily applies to foreign investors, regardless of whether they are investing in foreign or domestic applications. Considering a lot of the U.S. government is manipulated by corporate money though there is a good chance this won't make it too far. A number of signers have already reconsidered since putting it forth. Definitely something to keep an eye on though in the future especially if things heat up towards China due to Taiwan or Russia.

  13. Ah shucks. If this ends up going through I guess we'll have to say goodbye to the EN dub. I really don't wanna switch to a different language but guess I'll have to at this rate :c

  14. Congress: Today we're reviewing the videogame called "Genshin Impact"
Random 80 year old senator: It's from China and it's developer has connections to the CCP.
Congress: Banned, citizens will no longer be allowed to play this on any device, else be arrested for 5-10 years.
