  1. Otto did not imprison Kallen.
At that point he's not the Overseer of Schicksal, in fact he's not even on the inheritance list.
He experimented on people yes, but his sin is mostly being callous and apathetic. It was indeed necessary in the "Greater Good" sense, as the Black Death plague in HI3 was actually Honkai-powered. That make him gray rather than outright evil.
500 years later he's indeed evil though, and even Otto himself at that point called himself a villain.
It's worth noting that if there is anything Otto hate the most, it's himself.

  2. If you will actually play Honkai, the part where you "play" as Otto right before Thus Spoke Apocalypse cinematic plays will hit you hard, especially if you have context on what happened in the mangas

  3. Let me just point out that. Out of all the bad things he did. The experiment one with the children at the beginning was not one of them. He was curing the black plague which killed 200 million lives and counting. Even in the real world back then all we can do was experiment on infected person and see what cures it. The story already mentioned that they were dying children. Even if kallen rescued them. They are gonna die either ways because there is no cure. Also children have stronger bodies than the elderly which makes cure more effective.
After kallen died he was called a fool because he was playing both sides. He was pretending to be the villain while secretly helping and becoming a wall for humanity to surpassed. Honkai already wiped out the world twice. Otto be like what if herscher are on our side. Basically kiana. A body he perfected, a herscher core and power of friendship he orchestrated. One he knew that current time line was fine. He retired himself and the madlad did it. He decieved the tree by pretending to be a villain so he can rewrite the rules of the world and make the other timeline belong to kallen.

  4. Small thing about otto not spoilers. every otto you see are just clones made of soulium that he transfers his sentince to. he also used soulium to heal durandal so that's probably why she turned blonde. also bubble universes are dying universes so obviously now that means genshin is not a bubble

  5. Without Otto's experimentation… the cure for the Plague would never have been found…

    Without Otto's experimentation… K423 aka Kiana wouldn't have received her powers…

Without Otto's plotting… even Herrscher of Sentience & Fu Hua wouldn't have had their current relationship…

Without Otto's actions… Schicksal would have still been corrupt… and not properly advancing humanity against Honkai…

Without Otto's decisions… the REAL Kiana would have died. You should be able to look up who the REAL Kiana is, but she will be keeping her new name & Krishna (*hint hint* Blond Kiana hint hint)

Without Otto's villainy & all the above & more… he couldn't have created another timeline (without him) for Kallen to live. Meaning… in that new timeline that he does NOT exist… so yeah… Kallen lived in another timeline so our current characters would never have met Kallen. Mindblowing… so no need to think too much about this… maybe one day there may be a side short story about Kallen's life in that new timeline.

Also… the 13 Flame Chasers… 😢 this is how HoYoVerse makes us feel such deep emotions for people who died over 50000 years ago!

  6. @georgieegames Please look up Azure Waters. It's based on the manga about Seele & Bronya. You won't regret watching it.

Also, you will want to watch videos of APHO1 & 2 (A Post-Honkai Odyssey) which shows what happens 7 or 8 years after the events of Honkai Impact 3rd. Yesssss Adult Bronya & Mature Mei <3 the theme song for APHO2 is electric too! You should also view both the concerts for Honkai Impact 3rd!

  7. so, a brief crash course on the multiverse lore of the mihoyo universe:

the 2 big constructs to understand are called "The Imaginary Tree" and "The Sea of Quanta"
in short, the imaginary tree is where information is born, the sea of quanta is where it goes to die.

many universes (no exact number, could be hundreds, could be millions) exist concurrently on the imaginary tree, and they each sit on a "branch" of the tree, so to speak. the honkai universe and genshin universe are both existences on the tree, but they sit on different branches.

meanwhile, the sea of quanta wants to kill the imaginary tree (and is allegedly where honkai comes from, but that part is a bit vague) and so occasionally, a universe will fall off the tree and into the sea of quanta, where it will slowly be corroded into a nothingness slurry of dead information (Durandals bubble universe was in the process of dying in this way)

there are a number of "extraordinary" existences on the imaginary tree/ sea of quanta level, but the 2 main ones to focus on are "God" (a being that seems to be aligned with the tree, and is encountered by Su after he… dies? ascends? after he stops being Aliven't…) and "The Will of Honkai" which is a trickier entity to wrap our heads around, as it may not have existed until Elysia made a fundemental change to the laws of the universe, but they decided to be hella vague about that, so we're not entirely sure what's up with the will of honkai, but TL;DR, it might not be inherently evil, but it also doesn't act in our interests. that's a very long rabbit hole though, so you're probably not ready for it.

  8. Don’t know if anyone else has explained ER. All the dialogue that Elysia is saying in the second half of Because of You is addressed to Mei who was within the program to learn about the previous era.

  9. Otto did a lot of heinous acts but it was all to save a single person. The only one who ever gave a shit about him. Someone he initially tried to save but his method unfortunately caused her to die because of her inherited nature to fight. His entire story is trying to undo his biggest mistake no matter the cost while acknowledging himself as the villain, seeking no pity or redemption. Ironically his own master plan is also the core piece that has helped all the characters grow to the point they're at in the story. Through tragedies as a result of his own plan he made the characters willingly into what would be his own demise for a single opportunity to essentially defy fate itself and create infinite possibilities for Kallen to live.

  10. Otto was the kind of villain who believed in a Hero's capabilities to make miracles. But even he himself does not believe he could ever becomes one. So he devised a vicious plan to create one in the form if Kiana aka K423 so he could use the miracle to momentarily break free from the bonds of the imaginary tree and create worlds where Kallen lived at the cost of his own sentience. And sentience meaning his soul, which means in every universe he created where Kallen lived he was never born.

  11. pov: otto where kallen is still alive and he still experimenting, he is experimenting on how to make a cure on the plague and the other is for the oath of juda maybe im wrong in the aoth of juda one so don't take it seriously.

  12. 59:11 just to explain. No, she isn't a robot. She's a data simulation(basically a hologram) her name is elysia, and the real elysia died, but before she died, her and the other valkyrie warriors created a data space ( called the elysian realm)with a bunch of alternate versions of themselves. That tv thing she's fighting is the herrscher of corruption, which basically attached itself onto to mei( aka mei raiden, the herrscher of thunder) and snuck into the elysian realm, and basically started uploading viruses into the data space and corrupted all their files.

  13. also, just to make matters worse for otto, he's effectively the reason she died rather than execution. He was the one who released the honkai beast which killed her.
in the animatic, he literally gave back the time that should've belonged to her

  14. Very nice reaction from these animated shorts. Though these videos are just summary of what really happened in the game.

The Elysian Realm "Because of You" animated short is quite hard to understand their context not only by their summary video without playing the game.

Yes, Mihoyo games are in a multiverse, that's why they changed to Hoyoverse and you'll see similar characters across other Mihoyo games.

Yes, the last video is a concept trailer for Honkai: Star Rail. The train they used is the Cosmic Juggernaut.

  15. To clarify Otto regarding the Sentience incident: It is very, very, VERY hard to kill Otto. He has an incredible number of clones created from a Previous Era nanite super-alloy called Soulium, hidden in different locations across the world, and should he "die", his sentience is uploaded and transferred to another Soulium Clone. Killing Otto in a permanent sense is nearly impossible without the man doing it himself.

As for the reason of Bianka being blonde, it was a result of her treatment. The Soulium used to repair her body after surviving a fall from a plane after an explosion (durable kid) caused her hair to curl and turn blonde.

  16. The christianity church is all evil and greedy in every world it seems. those saints that sacrificed themselves became nothing more than a tool for their propaganda for power to serve their greed.

  17. Ragna is probably THE most important character you will NOT see in-game. Let me break this down:
    1. She inspired Bianka at the orphanage
    2. She saved Rita during a Honkai attack and inspired her to become a Valkyrie as well
    3. She was Himeko's commanding officer and shaped a lot of her worldview. "Fight for all that is beautiful in this world" is a philosophy/core ideal she instilled in both Bianka and Himeko
    4. Through Himeko, she has also had that ideal passed down to Kiana, Mei and Bronya.
There is probably more that I just don't know about. The woman is a hidden legend. Out of all the characters that are important to the story and still don't have battlesuits I would put her on top of my personal Wishlist purely for the things she is directly or not responsible for. Yes ahead of even Cecilia. To be honest if they both got playable forms I think Cecilia is a shoe in for an S-Rank suit while Ragna doesn't appear to have been personally powerful so she's more than likely a good fit at and A-Rank( I'd say B-Rank but combat experience and leadership skills do play a role in the ranking). And I am very fine with that.

  18. No, what is said in the Fu Hua Chronicle is that Sentience killed one of his clones. Not that it matters – the way Otto has lived for 500+ years is by creation clones and transferring his mind from one to the next. It is implied (if not outright stated) that he always keeps a backup of his conscience that is as up to date as possible for exactly the kind of situation he found himself in with Senti. At least that was my reading of the information. I might be wrong but it does seem like the most sensible idea given the circumstances.

  19. Actually the blond hair was a complete accident. The way Bianka found herself in Otto's care was by falling out of a transport shuttle something like a thousand feet in the air during the mission she went on with Siegfried to get K423 out of Schiksal. She survived, which alone is really impressive, but she was injured. Otto used soluim, a material exclusive to Honkai-verse that he grows his clones out of, to help heal her. He used a very small amount but for reasons unknown even to him (or so he claimed, we will never know) it changed her hair color. Which was very fortuitous for Otto. White hair and blue eyes is a very Kaslana look and would have made hiding who Bianka truly is much harder if not impossible in the long run. Fun fact : Palatinus Equinox the battlesuit that represents Bianka after she completes the trials in the Stigmata space and learns her true identity has white streaks in her hair.

  20. "Because of You" hits WAY harder if you know what exactly this battle is. If you follow the Elysia's story from the start until the end, the most painful part of this cinematic is that you're in fact watching the last dying moments of these characters. It's like a rekt video. "Final lesson" x13. When the glass shatters and then burns like a film you just sit there speechless and heartbroken. I did.

  21. otto did love her but by the end it wasn't even about love just wanted to bring back a hero he admired back a hero who was wronged by the world and him he was upset that the world turned their back on such a person

  22. On Thus Spoke Apocalypse, it made me do something rare, feel for a villain and Otto is one of the most despicable of them all and he didn't revive Kallen, he created another timeline for her on the Imaginary Tree. The stuff with Durandal blew the minds of a lot of Captains and if you want to experience more, they have online manga and my best recommendation is Second Eruption. And the Elysian Realm is a great side story, I really got attached to Elysia and the other Flamechasers, I haven't seen it yet in game as I'm on chapter 30 but I know that when I do, I'll be crying again
