There is lore behind giant skull, Snake-Dragon-God-whatever (Orobashi) came from enkanomiya/watatsumi and invaded yashiori island (to get more fertile ground for his people to grow food on cuz watatsumi sucks for that). Raiden Ei didn't like the fact Orobashi yoinked her land so waged war against him and sliced him (and the island) in half.
