This is a continuation of my video from yesterday. I hope this can clear up the air amongst the Genshin Impact community. I know players are bored and some are just looking to start things for “content”. Others are frustrated because they love this game and see its potential. Genshin Impact community drama and concerns part 2.

This will be the last I talk about this issue, I hope these 2 videos covered most of the viewpoints from both side. I know things are rough right now but let's keep our chins up and stay hopeful. I'm here grinding it out both on YouTube and in Genshin Impact. So come hang out either in my discord or during my streams where I can talk more on this. Let me know down below what kind of videos you would all like to watch.

Mihoeyo just needs to step up, and be less greedy, way to many things to point out.
People have to understand that ranting on the weak points isn't the same as hating the game, I love the game, but mihoeyo is sorry to say it, lazy, we had minor game bugs, for 7 months, with the money earned, it's not hard to hire a team to fill out the void.
Dayum does this guy never sleep😂😂
As someone who has several friends who took a break from Genshin and were still motivated to continue playing after since they had friends that suggested they take breaks if they are feeling burntout/bored, yes, it is very possible to put the game down for a little bit and still come back to it; it's just a matter of do you want to or not. What is there is feel left behind on ? It's PvE 🙂 those friends of mine are AR45ish and im 55 and they never say they feel behind since there is nothing to be "behind" on aside from missing out on event weapons like Festering. just play at your own pace. There is no being left behind when there is no race / finish line, right? The game does absolutely need help, but just felt like putting it out there that it is possible to put the game down for a little bit and come back to it later. You're doing a wonderful thing by making videos that are much mpre neutral and looking at it from both sides.
I got bored of DBL (DragonBall Legends) so my freind reccomended me Genshin Impact and boom I got hooked
Great video you really did a good job at covering all the perspectives in the community
I really love when people talk about Mihoyo being a small company. They've been doing this for nine years. They've got 2400 employees according to wikipedia. Yeah, they aren't Facebook, Google, etc– they have about 1/50th the employees of Google. But if you compare to game developers like Firaxis, Larian, or the trainwreck of a company that is Bethesda, they are *massive*. They don't get the wiggle room afforded to small devs just trying to make things work. Not when they're this huge, and this greedy.
So… false advertisement through omission?
don't worry about quitting for a few weeks though, everyone will be AR55~56 for a long time 😀
I was gonna play this till BOTW2 came out cuz it reminded me of BOTW not knowing it was a gacha game lol
I legit thought it was an MMORPG at first
In response to 2:20 – competitors are closing in. Just to name a few upcoming ones: Tower of Fantasy, Punishing: Gray Raven, NieR Re[in]carnation, X2: Eclipse, Binary Gods, Blue Protocol.
In response to 2:47 – Mihoyo in NOT a small company. 500+ inhouse developers (just developers, not counting the PR, lawyer & support teams) and roughly 300 contractors – that's NOT small. They are as large as EA or Activision, and probably even worse as far as predatory tactics are concerned. I have no idea where this notion comes from that they are small. Maybe from 9 years ago when they started out? Maybe because selling cute anime waifus makes them look pleasant and friendlier, like a buddy or something, so people scale their size down in their heads?
edit:
Let me correct myself, because apparently even I am guilty of scaling their size down. I just looked up their wiki page and – "miHoYo currently employs 2400 people". Rotfl. Small company my ass. So, no – they don't get a pass.
That is the problem, I never played gatcha games, I disliked them because they are money hungry games without any real goal for me. Then when I saw genshin impact adds there was only the open world and the story in the focus, there wasn´t 1 add that talked about pulling charcters in a Gatcha system. Every add talks about the story and shows cinematic of charcters or story. How can people be blamed for expecting an open world RPG when this is what mihoyo was advertising all the time? I think Genshin would have been much better if it wasn´t a gatcha, but it is how it is, what I hope is that they change the pulls to be more f2p and start to make money with skins like other f2p games that become big, league of legends for example, because over time they will lose a big part of the playerbase if character are too difficult to get for f2p and low spender and this would be the beginning of the end, because when a community loses it´s f2p and low spender all the community stuff shatters, less artworks, less talking and soon it will be forgotten.
Nice video as always man!
The thing with 'leave if you don't enjoy it' is that it fixes precisely nothing.
The discontent players aren't speaking up because they hate the game, they're speaking up because they love the game, but hate where it's going. Mihoyo has been consistently ignoring us and our feedback, sometimes in the most insulting and mocking way possible (Resin? We fixed Resin, here, have some extra Resin on the Battlepass and the ability to not-play for longer!). Content creators aren't affiliated directly with Mihoyo (though at some point, I wonder about some people's luck…) and you shouldn't have to hear it but… we're trying to get our voices to be heard. This means that, in youtube or twitch or the forums, we're trying to band ourselves together in the off-chance that Mihoyo actually reads the criticism that comes from the west and realizes we want the game to get bigger and better.
At this point in time, especially with the latest update, I'm basically done with Genshin. I don't find waiting for 5 hours until my next boss fight to be enjoyable. I don't find ANY of the new events to be enjoyable. I don't find running the same circuit once a day for artifacts and ores to be enjoyable. Log in, do the primogem grind, log off. Maybe the event if there's something to get. But that's it. And hey, I pay Honkai Impact, LOVE the game. But Honkai isn't better than Genshin because "it is older", it's better than Genshin because they actually listen and are FAR more open with their communication.
I'd HATE to see Genshin go the way of other games that exploded onto the scene and died out a year later because the devs refused to listen -does Warhammer: Age of Reckoning ring a bell?
Great video! I haven't been too impressed with the last few patches but I am not going to bitch and complain. The game overall is still great and I expect great content from upcoming patches. You are right they have to appeal to a variety of demographic and gamers. I do appreciate that they offer surveys but hope they honestly take them to heart and use them to make the game even better. Thanks for keeping real..as always!
Honestly I understand why a lot of the players would want to leave. The resin, the grind, and just general dissatisfaction with gacha. They're all valid reasons.
When I first was curious about Genshin Impact, I was skeptical. I had a friend who warned me about the resin system and gacha rates. And yes I thought after playing the game: "Wow, this game is not that generous"
But honestly the reason I loved the game so much is because of the open-world experience. Even though the gacha and the grind was a bit frustrating at times, the open world aspect kept me in, and I hope despite all this that the game can continue on.
you make a very good points and i think some of us should do a better job of making more constructive criticism of the game
You adressed this issue perfectly. I already gave up commenting game issues and how feedback is important to mihoyo solve this situation, people get really mad. I mean, what's the point of getting characters and weapons If you can't play with them any content? But when I say this, people take it really personal.
Low-key happy people are "quitting". When Genshin inevitably becomes amazing again, people will flock back in and be hella behind the loyal and patient players.
What I dont understand is why they can't just implement systems they already have. They have a ton of non inatance domains they could just scale the difficulty on, tower defense (which was incredible) just needs to have more layers, dragon spine is an entire zone thata under utilized. I mean ok the festivals give good rewards, but the content itself isn't rewarding.
maybe blue protocol that game seems cool
This game tends to get a lot of unconditional love, but also needs tough love
It’s a company, and they can choose when to start dropping the ball or become lazier.
What happened to the switch launch? Responding to increased security?
Or responding to resin issues?
I like this game, but any company can turn into Activision and what’s going on with Call of duty.
EroWalrus: *states very constructive and intellectual points
HuTao in the background: 💃
You are so right, when this game was advertised I was so confused how is it possible it's free, it's just seemed like an open world RPG with anime characters and beautiful views, what's not to like? When I started playing there was so much to do, all the quests were like Chapter 1 Act 1 – I was like wow, I will be playing this game forever if it's just a beginning. After you are fully addicted to the game you realize what it actually is and that all you get is a vague promise of more to come.
Also spending money on this game at this point is not justified anymore at least for me lol
Me who will not leave waiting for dainsleif.💪
The problem is no one highlights good input. In fact there are very few videos that give constructive criticism. They only give criticism. And saying they need to add content is not constructive criticism. This is easier said than done as they internally have a road map. And deviation from this road map means parts of it get delayed. Most of the player base does not understand what it takes to produce this game. Hell I don’t understand what it takes.
By the way these two videos are a perfect example of videos that really say nothing. You’re basically saying there is a problem and that’s it. Saying they need to listen to the player base is useless because if you believe they don’t listen to them wells that’s a bit of an intelligence issue. As you’ve stated they have beta testing. They send out surveys after every event. Are they immediately fixing everything as it comes up? Of course not. What game out there does this?
I also want to know what game out there could possibly keep up with its content creators playing 8 hours a day every day? Do you know of a game save for maybe games like DOTA and Smite? Even WOW has its limits on what you can do. Same with Black Desert Online, etc. I believe people are putting unreasonable expectations on this game. Sure the two factor authorization is reasonable but to expect a game to pump out hundreds of hours of gameplay a month is ridiculous. Hell even if the content creators were only spending 3 or 4 hours a day on the game you are talking about a 100 hours a month. How is any game suppose to create this much content or even a quarter of this amount every month. Even creating 10 hours every month is crazy.
Look it would be awesome to have more permanent content. There is no denying that, but the fact that we have so many users that have completed everything they can do in the game is not some Mihoyo could have seen or even anticipated happening 6 months into the game. And I wouldn’t expect them to push out areas that are not ready to be released so what are they to do? It’s not like they have this drawer they can just pull content out of and throw into the game. I understand this creates frustration in a part of the user base but this is more of a function of this portion spending so much time on the game and not a function of Mihoyo releasing content too fast.
Genshin impact is a side game where people just want to collect characters, run around Teyvat, and play mini events. Thats why it’s successful because most players are not hardcore gamers. As long as they release new characters, regions, and mini events then people will still comeback even for just a few minutes or an hour per day.
The real gambling is not the gacha but the artefacts, they are the real pain
I feel sorry for all the ones that spend so much money on this game only to get items and characters they can't use for their full potential and everyone tell them "Don't like the game, quit or take a break".
Furthermore, F2P players have spent tremendous amount of time of this game to keep up with P2P to simply "Take a break".
We complain because we care, if we won't raise our voices, how will Mihoyo know to improve?
Mihoyo has around 2400 workers that's not a small company
My first time hearing about GI was my non-gaming friend saying, "I want to play this game." I was floored! Which game is that powerful?
My first impression was the ad and Genshin is also My first Gacha Game
Meanwhile on Mtashed… cringe
this IS my first gacha game, but I didn’t know it was when I first played it. I was just pumped knowing it’s open-world type available in both mobile AND pc. my only laments about the game are the lack of content for late-game players, and for this reason some would feel like it’s a chore to log in and farm materials. granted, they are still a growing company; and considering the details they add in every story, it would take time to develop.
however, with both the player base and the concerns building up, I wish they took time to listen and handle it accordingly.
ur input and commentary is always so helpful walrus!!
I don't care about resin anymore (not because I don't need it) but because it is just too grindy with terrible rng that I gave up
5:20 My first exposure to Genshin Impact was from the podcast on the WoolieVersus YouTube channel. Pat talked about how it was pretty much the first AAA gacha game. He went on for awhile about how he didn't like the gacha system. He described the combat system as somewhere between BOTW and DMC because of the elemental combos. I distinctly remember him saying "this may be one of the best games that also has the literal devil inside of it." What got me interested is that he said that the starting characters were enough to complete all the content in the game. What kept me from playing the game for a few weeks is that he also mentioned that there was pretty intrusive anti-cheat software installed with the game that never turned itself off even after the game closed. At some point I heard that that wasn't a thing anymore and installed the game.
I love how this dude milks content …bt none of it really matters …cause its a freaking single-player focused experience
I don't mind the gatcha aspect
But the kind of bullshit they make you go through for 10-30 primos is disgusting
Especially since one spin costs 160
And 10 costs 1600
That's awful. Theres no excuse. Once you finish most of the game, primos are hard to get. If you're lucky, you can get 1 10x spin every couple weeks. And then, you get 10 3* items. Its laughable, disrespectful and appalling. Content creators and whales keep making excuses for the company's greed.
If there's a chance I get 10 3* items, for 1600 fucking primos, then I should be able to amass 1600 primos weekly, at the very least. They give you these pitiful gifts of 10- 60 primogems yay not even one spin.
Nur weil sie den Youtubern alles nachmachen und keine Meinung mehr haben
I just leave the game after I realize that I most likely would never get what I want from the gacha
I’m going to be forced to quit when my phone starts to run out of storage 💀
I tell you how much effort it takes to quit Genshin…
While you are on high because of the game but frustrated with its system, why to stop?
When Mihoyo fails to provide value for the money we pay… you automatically have no difficulty to leave. I just left.
