  1. Imagine being so racist that anything other than the darkest color of black for a characters skintone means they're white. This is how " Progressives" work and how they justified attacking Asians in 2020 because " Well they're basically white adjacent"

  2. Ah yes this reeks of people that would call me Latinx and try to say that they love my people and think that they're helping me with their open border stance because "how would you get work" and "we need you for our harvests."

  3. Sad to say I get the giggles over this, I imagine them desperately clutching paint colour charts trying to work out is that character 'Beach Beige' or closer to 'Summer Dream Creme'?

  4. You kept saying that devs don't care about DEI anymore but what you don't know about this game is that these devs don't care about ANY complaints lol. They've treated their customers like crap for a long time in general and only started adding some basic quality of life features people have been asking for since the start of the game when they finally got some direct competition recently. This is also the second time this exact same controversy happened with Genshin Impact because they did the exact same thing in the region inspired by India. They didn't care then and they don't care at all now so I think it's funny that people are even trying to boycott this again lol.

  5. Man, so much for supporting you guys. I'm not even that upset about this, since nothing ever goes in favor of the Genshin audience since the 2nd year of existence. I expect them to do this type of stupid shit. But the way you go about it is just disrespectful, not even on commenting that whatever comes out of China is known to do this. They are basing this on cultures where a MAJORITY of people are of color, and the company has no excuse on "discrepancies".

But I guess Disney nuances matter more than people waiting on Natlan just to be disappointed, just as much.

  6. Mentally ill people. And completely moronic. I have played Genshin Impact for 4 years, really enjoy the story and the soundtrack is one of the best i ve ever heard in a videogame (mix of orchestra, rythmn,EDM and a bit of rock). But one thing that's really amazing is the amount of research the devs did to weave a story around mythology, theology, folk tales, even some operas and theater( like Ring of the Nibelung's and Italy's Comédia Della Arte), from various regions and cultures around the world, in a very respectful way. Lore crafting and theory channels then compile the information in fun videos to watch. Natlan will explore the ancient south American tribes, like Mayans, Incas and all that stuff. Can't wait to see how they go with it.

  7. Oh, the same folks that accused asians of blackface because some happened to live in a countryside working under the sun all day.

    * they were probably rebuttal with "we're sunbathing all day and our skin ain't turn black so you are clearly wrong" *

  9. The good old buns. For some reason, when the talk is about the buns, the 1st thing that comes to my mind is a Chinese girl in traditional clothing with her hair in buns. Maybe the internet has ruined me. 😀

  10. Ironically, regardless of the shade being used – they both look cute which is already going to be a problem. They hate cute and/or sexy characters but really… this kind of just goes to show that the medium doesn't matter. Some diverse team or studio could easily make cute drawings like this and launch a game like Genshin Impact but i guess it's too much work to make your own thing. Everyone has to damage their brand to include you.

  11. one of my friends that I play Genshin alot with told me about this happening and I was like "ok? I don't understand the problem." she said "diversity is important! and Natlan is based off Africa! so where are all the black indigenous people!" I was like "well the game is fake with fake characters. sure the regions might be based off real life locations and some characters might even be influenced by real life people in religions and such, however the game isn't a complete rip off such countries and it's also….get this…a GAME! It's not real! MiHoYo is based in China which is, guess what, a very high majority of Asian people. So Western beliefs and demands don't really matter as much over there. They can make whatever character look like what they want them to look like, and you don't have to play it or give money for them if you don't want to. If you want some DEI shit then go play something like Overwatch or something. Plenty of games that give into that demand that you can play, and it's not the end of the world if this one game/company doesn't give into the Twitter mob who complains if there aren't people that "look or identify like they do" and Western companies then focus so much of that in their games and the games come out like shit." She really didn't like that and refused to talk to me for a whole day.

  12. why Chinese make fair skin characters because in their history the fair skin one where rich. Black people have admit that most people in Africa are poor. So countries which black people are tiny minorities are not going to be shown.

  13. You can't whitewash an original character of your own creation from an original nation of your own creation. The creator is the one who determines what their skin colour is.

  14. Do I remember correctly, that light skin is part of a wide spread asian beauty ideal? Did they also color sample her face under different lighting conditions? First in the shadows, recognizable by the lighter nose, and then under direct lighting?

  15. Imagine calling it whitewashing when they weren't black to begin with, you can't whitewash something that was never anything but white, but hey let's talk about all the blackwashing going on of historical white figures.

  16. Fairer skin have always been an indication of beauty for women of the East for millennias… The darker, the less desirable the woman was. It's still is for most of Asia and hating fairness of skin is simply viewed as weird…

  17. Why color matter ? is it the one who mention the color are the racist one ? I mean, if you aren't racist, color doesn't matter. We saw everyone as a people, not a color. and how about blind people ? did we didn't count them in as people because they can't see a color ?
