I think fake Furina is still better than every other archon.
In case you want to know, she went forward in time and left her sister behind. So she missed her whole life
Always look forward to your breakdowns, great video!
Updated.
To explain her journey, you need to explain world structure. And Genshin is notorious for its unreliable narration, so correct me please.
In the simplest terms;
The Abyss is essentially an alien invader from outside the world. (Or some type of proto-plasma the world was born out of?).
Mavuika, while being recognized as an Archon (God), is still only human with a human lifespan. (Who knows why).
In order to fight the Abyss, the nation of Natlan needed to rely on its own magic system. Ley Lines (or the Night Kingdom).
Everyone's memories are stored in the Ley Lines, converted into elemental energy once they die.
By fighting and sacrificing themselves, the warriors are putting their energy, their memories, into the system, enabling a world-level defense of the nation.
During the relative peace this brings, the Ley Line systems will recharge and stockpile power.
Mavuika uses this Ley Line process while isolating (so she doesn't become one with the Ley Lines) and storing her memories for 500 years. The time needed to accumulate enough power in the Ley Lines. After which she will be resurrected (extracted from the Ley Lines) in order to win the war.
This Ley Line memory-power process is also utilized to create "Ancient Names" for the people. Essentially miniature Ley Lines that act as power conduits that are charged by the memories of all previous bearers. This is the main means of attack to win the war.
During this 500 year process, Mavuika is essentially dead, or wandering the realm of the dead, illustrated by the endless desert road.
Mavuika unlike other archons is not inmortal, she is a regular human.
In natlan there is some kind of rule/ritual where even if you fall in battle if the battle is won your soul goes into the sacred flame and you are resurrect (sadly they lose that battle so no one of her companions could resurrect) (edit: aparently they won but chose to not resurrect for the sake of the plan)
This nation is on a constant war against the abyss, so mavuika started a plan to win the war but it needed 500 years to be completed, so she choose to put her soul on the sacred flame and wait for 500 years to resurrect.
The part of her chasing the sunset is like a metaphor of the years passing while she is inside the sacred flame waiting to resurect, and the sign with numbers that apears some times are exactly the years that have passed
Roughly 3 hours from the time I post this comment, her character demo will be released, please consider reacting to Mavuika's short story teaser video alongside the demo
At 11:45 of your video, you can see the number 499 on the bus stop sign, indicating her last stop on her 500 year journey to the future. The whole scene is a visual representation of her jump through time 500 years in the future.
The scene with the motorcycle in the desert is implyed that she is INSIDE the "sacred flame", where she was for 500 until she cames back in the role as archon. And yes, the girl is indeed her blood sister.
You should take a look at her character teaser too! "Character Teaser – "Mavuika: A Light Through Time" "
Definitely worth watching her teaser too from a directing standpoint you get to see more of her and her sister too
Please react to the new Genshin Character Mavuika. Do Japanese if you oblige
Wonderful and amazing reaction as always!
I would love to see your reaction to Stairway to Heaven from hoyofair. Its a fanmade genshin animation that incorperates an analog horror style vibe + backrooms and is by far one of the best animations ive seen from hoyofair. Its 13 minutes long and by Kieru. I really hope youll give your take on it because im very curious to what youd say ❤
Tupac literally died standing, his last resort is just bring back mavuika to the throne
In order to defeat the Abyss in Natlan, that Archon made a deal with the God of death to make that "Sacred Flame" by collecting the fighting sprit as fuel that start whit the those warriors death in the beginning of this video and she Sacrifice herself to the flame to travel 500 years to the future so the flame will be have enough energy collected to defeat the Abyss, but she has to leave her family behind, including her sister. that desert may be some kind of dimenction where her consciousness is placed those 500 years. May be the god of death place her sister's soul to guide and remind her about her goal.
15:40 for some reason when she is riding in her "inside" world the eerie music reminded me a lot of Philip Glass – Koyaanisqatsi. Especially some of the opening notes. And I say that as a praise for Hoyoverse's animation team and music composers.
This short animation made me appreciate Mavuika even more, especially the scene where she rides across the desert for so long, capturing the emptiness and loneliness she feels. I love when Genshin explores such depth in its characters. ❤
About the sunset: Mavuika is one of the Archons of Natlan, a nation embroiled in war for centuries against an enemy they refer to as the Abyss. She has devised a plan to finally bring an end to it but it requires that her friends and warriors sacrifice themselves so that after 500 years their names and heroic deeds can empower new warriors that will stand with her. Since she is human she can't live for that long so she herself sacrifices her life to the flame and starts down the metaphorical road we see her travelling in the animation.
The sunset is simply her goal: the end of the war. She is travelling down a road that leads to that goal with it in sight for years on end but she starts faltering near the end, as the sun never seems to set and the war appears neverending, at which point her sister, long dead by that time in reality, giver her a little push and reminds her that the sun will set "when the time comes" and that what follows is the "peaceful night" and a reprieve from all the sacrifices.
So yep, the sunset is the end of her duties but more so in the sense that it is a goal she wants to achieve rather than simple rest. The sun will not set on its own, she has to make it set for everyone who is "watching the sky" to get to enjoy the peaceful night.
Mavuika, unlike other Archons, is a human rather than a god, as are the other Archons of Natlan, so in this short we're shown the depths of her dedication and sacrifice, as well as her mortal failings as she does falter to some extent in her journey. Even Furina, the only other human "Archon" never once faltered in her resolve despite the heavy burden that was on her for the same 500 years. Mavuika does, but she ultimately recovers and gets herself back up. Her failings humanize her without actually taking away from the strength that she has to posses to be the Archon of a nation embroiled in war.
"fun" fact, there was i belive a korean general in the past who died sanding and was also called tupac, i belive he stabbed his leg into the ground so he can show that he is standing for his comrades(i mkight be wrong about details, i just heard it somewhere)
To give some context, Mavuika isn’t like other Archons. She’s human and not immortal. So she didn’t live through those 500 years but used a method to travel to the future instead and had to leave her family behind. That little girl was her baby sister.
Mavuika might be an Archon but she's human, she's not immortal. And on the univers of Genshin there's no True immortal by time. Even Zhongli who is the oldest Archon and a God said so, that even him already has started feeling the "Erosion" which is what happen to immortal beings, their power decrease over time and at some point they are no more stronger than your ordinary human. The only difference is when they start "Eroding" they grow weaker and cease to exist.
As for Mavuika, well Pyro Archons are different, a new Pyro archon is named by trial and basically the strongest warrior of every generation becomes the new Pyro archon, for Mavuika to travel 500 years, it's actually not a real travel, she killed herself and since she has a ancient name and is the pyro archon, she then made sure to keep her spirit within the sacred flame of Natlan, waiting 500 years to then resurrect. What we see her riding her flamestrider to show her waiting over the time passing, you can even spot sometimes a panel showing the years passing and since she's only human at some point her mind started to fade away, she didn't remember who she was what she was doing or where were she going. The only thing that made her go back to track her her little sister Hine last memories
Her 500 year travel, when she sits on that throne she dies and her soul goes into the flame, that's where she travels the road for 500 years till she is "reborn" from the flame. It is believed that her sister, Hine found a way to enter the flame to at some point in her life, she appears first at the 90ish year of mavuika's travel, meaning Hine died at around 100ish years old, than Mavuika takes her break around 490th year, meaning Hine watched her sister for around 400 years until she rekindles Mavuika's inner flame and than passes on (we see Mavuika starts riding again at 499th year).
