  1. This is furina preforming a play, the play isn't "her story" but it closely resembles it, kinda of like a new version fairy tale VS how it was originally, while the story may not be 1 for 1 the same it's meaning and struggles are, so it's used as a coming to terms moment for her.

The play is about an oceanid (basically a water spirit) that left home and disguised herself as human despite her parents wishes, the oceanid lived a peaceful life and even fell in love with a man, but one day a drought took place, and she revealed her secret to her lover to explain that she might know how to fix it, but villagers over heard the conversation and blamed her for the drought. They took the lover hostage and threatened to kill him if she didn't show up and she chose to sacrifice herself Infront of the villagers to restore the waters to normal, so that everyone including her lover could be saved. in the end the gods looked upon her with favor and granted her a vision, and it rested along side her in her final moments.

  2. One of my favorite "stage play" details of this video is that the birds are clearly hanging on strings. It's a silly little thing that reminds you that this is a stage play.

The video is really beautifully done all around. I haven't done the quest yet so I don't know the context, but wow.

  3. fair warning, furina's story is probably the most tragic story of the game. Her cutscenes are beautiful but would probably need a bit more context to fully understand if you do want to look more into her story

  4. Furina is performing a part in a play. The story of sacrifice parallel's her own. Genshin beautifully and delicately touches upon the human condition and martyrdom.

  5. The entire teaser is a part of a performance. It's very deceptive into making you think it is a part of how she came to be, but it's also quite similar to how she got to where she is now.

  6. This cutscene is just acting btw, she is a great actress, she acted in the opera house to help the original actress because the original actress is sick, and she helped by filling the role of the previous actress and then this cutscene happened! everything that happened in this cutscene is a story made by a victim of dissolving, the story did not get finished. With the help of furina the story got finished and they even managed to perform in the opera house because of furina, the act was going well until the main actress got sick and asked help from furina, furina accepted and this cutscene shows.

  7. Everything about Furina is an act, including this musical. It's just her performing a play within the game.

The bit you missed in this story was this character's wish was to become fully human and be with her lover, rather than a water spirit imitating a human.
But when the other villagers found out her identiy they blamed her for the land going baron so held her lover randsom to force her to fix it,
she then chose to give up that wish and sacrifice herself in order to clense the land because she cared so deeply for everything, knowing it would still be the best outcome for her lover.

  8. Spoiler…

This scene is of a play or opera performed within the game of Furina's story quest where she directs performs in a play. The play is about the guy meeting an Oceanid (played by Furina), an entity in the game that is made of pure water. The oceanid want to become human. The MC in the play tells her not to reveal her true identity or she would suffer. As times goes on, there was a drought of some kind. The people finds out Furina's character's true identity and blames her for the disaster. The crowd kidnaps her lover to bait her out. She arrives and uses her powers to fix the calamity but she can no longer remain so she leaves.

  9. The context of the opera is that the water are "running away" because of pollution cause by humans and it leaves the city in droughts to impending doom. She was a water spirit so that's how she knows this. She was then accused to be the cause and her lover is captured to lure her.

The water hates humans but she loves one of em so much and that loves extends to all of humanity. So she becomes one with the water again and brings that emotion and her good impression of humans back to the water. It's beautiful and bittersweet really.

The context of the whole story is that all of these sacrifices are parallel to her own past story.
