The only manipulative tactic being used is giving away free stuff. Companies use this tactic to lure in braindead people. And of every single gaming community out their its being used in the gacha community. Because there you will find the most braindead gamers of all.
I have 1101 active days in genshin and i still dont have keqing whom i adore since every start so yeah even standard selector would help me alot

Nah, guys, I don't think this is it. Hoyo wants you to shift to their other games, like HSR and ZZZ. These are newer, better for mobile players, and much, much cheaper to maintain. HSR already showing numbers on par with Genshin, while being a magnitude easier in development. So naturally, they want to pump as much people as possible from Genshin to HSR and their future projects, especially those who are okay with this type of mobile gaming and overall less gameplay as compared to Genshin. People who are mainly looking for gacha rather than a game.
For players like me, who does not give a damm about the gacha, and only want open-world gameplay, we don't even understand what you guys are saying.
This tactics works better when there's a good or at least neutral "relationship" with the company. It got out of control because they were dumb enough put a big load of gas on embers. Let me explain : people accumulated frustration over time and kept it inside (greed, no QoL, no endgame, trolls, etc). So when people got trolled again by genshin, they vent out 3 years of frustration.
Where you're right is : they might still get away with it because people love this game and are so used to genshin greediness that they'll be satisfied with 20-30 pulls. But this tactics won't work eternally. Other studios start to notice that genshin has Achilles heel and start to implement things that should have been done for years by genshin

Lets be honest, second and third year anniversary rewards (or compensation to put it in its correct term) of Genshin are the same if not worst than the first anniversary, yet players ignored how audacious those rewards due to the promise of "Genshin Anime is coming." If not because of that anime announcement, players will review bomb Genshin earlier.

I used to think that Genshin was a flawless game, where nothing was wrong with it. But after seeing all the crap that's going on, it's making me think twice. Because of this man, Cai Houyu (*can't pronounce his last name), Genshin became less fun for me. Due to this, I would be going on a hiatus from Genshin until this drama is resolved.
It's honestly terrible considering that, Genshin isn't even a bad game, it has many great qualities already, and LOADS of potential if devs tried to explore them. All it takes is some bad apples that are placed too high…
