  1. The kind of powercreep I find more annoying is the one where new content in the game is designed in a way to be challenging to people who have played every day since the game's launch and who have the perfect team for every abyss floor with fully built characters. It's kind of insane that I as someone who has played for a bit over a year now still am not at the point where I can expect to fully clear floor 12 of the abyss, or defeat some of the new local legends

  2. powercreep in genshin for me is more based on their animation, trailer, gameplay style (more fun, stylish, etc.). Well, the stronger unit will always appear in later patch but tbh as someone who doesnt care about meta or damage, I think having characters who are fun/easy to use is more important

  3. people are too defensive about powercreep. yes genshin has powercreep, you don't need to do mental gymnastics to deny it. But it's fine, it's very slow and usually comes with unique playstyles that make em less of a 1:1 upgrade.

expecting not just a gacha, but any kind of long term game to have no powercreep is delusional. such a game would likely loose interest fast.

  4. Genshin hardly suffers from powercreep, yet people call it the most PTW hoyo game. Like WHAT? Both honkai IP’s under hoyo suffer SO MUCH MORE POWERCREEP
I don’t play Star rail, but my friends who do tell me all about it. I myself play Honkai impact and in like ver 7.4 their part 2 dropped which made clearing content with the new characters MUCH easier
As of now, they’re hardly useful, it’s been like 3-4 patches only. If that seems “oh, 3-4 patches is quite long” then look at Genshin, my Raiden can wipe abyss(albeit, she’s C3) and she’s like 2 years old or something. A 2 year old character in Honkai impact is almost useless
This is powercreep, not Genshin. Genshin is the baby game, it’s a game I open to lay back and enjoy. Not a game I play while sweating about demotion

  5. I was just talking with a friend about this yesterday. He compared Robin in HSR to Xilonen. Robin has 100% action advance, over 22% attack to the whole team, deals a ton of off field damage, 50% damage to the whole team, 20% crit damage to the whole team, and another 25% to follow-up attacks. Xilonen has a little damage, res shred, healing, and 40% damage bonus. HSR makes “everything and the kitchen sink” characters and suffers badly from power creep while Genshin doesn’t overload kits and does much better with it.

  6. Really good take and I agree more or less. I don't necessarily hate powercreep. Like I don't want to play Xiangling. I haven't leveled her. I am waiting for a good/"better" version of her (doesn't have to be no ICD shenanigans but just someone that is slightly better than Dehya). I do think it's sad that early on they wanted to limit the brokenness of exploration and now they have no qualms making new units break that aspect of the game. Glitch enjoyers are also thriving with them! Challenge accounts get a fresh feel because weapons aren't all homogenous etc. Genshin in particular is really good about keeping characters unique, even when they're similar (like Yelan vs Childe hydro bow or Yelan vs Xingqiu for burst abilities).
I say it's sad they limited exploration abilities early on because Venti should have been the king of gliding and flying, but alas. The troubles of being an early unit

  7. I get your point and true you want improvement i personally dont think that is in the form of a character hitting 10x 50k dmg + just by holding a the left click ….No matter what you say Neuvilette absolutely brakes the game and is disgusting

  8. And now I think Dehya found a place in the game if the Burning set and burning characters mecanics. She can apply Pyro and offering protection. And Emillie's Burning Resistence Passive can easy help stack Dehya's Set effect. In the last patchs I user Dehya a lot int Abyss and Imaginariun. She even save my theater last time cuse a needed protection and Pyro at same time (Thoma's Shield get destroyed easyll and me team died so many time if him)

  9. It's not a multiple pvp game. Like lol, apex, Overwatch. In those games if X if meta and you are not on X you're actively throwing because you are picking the "wrong character" and affecting others rank.

There no one to let down but yourself, there are no(official) leaderboards. Even if there were it would be totally optional. If you can clear the content or don't care about a extra 6-8 wishes every 2-3 weeks ignore it.
The quest and the majority of over world is easy.

  10. Powercreep in this game is very odd cause it’s not that older characters get worse, heck some day one 4*s are still some of the best in the game. There is practically nothing in the game that you couldn’t do with any character. The real “power creep” is just that many newer characters have a higher damage ceiling and/or have some quality of life changes that make them preferable.

Take base Hu Tao and alrecchino for example, both are pyro polearms with fairly similar kits. However Arlecchino would be preferable on most cases cause she has a higher damage ceiling and is honestly a bit more versatile with team building. Plus she also happens to have that unique sprint with her charge attack. That isn’t to say Hu Tao isn’t good, she is still a fantastic dps and only a little lower than Arlecchino.

I’d argue the true power creep in genshin is ease of use and how good a character is for exploration.

  11. Or maybe start to develop deeper characters not copy paste for 4 years? Drakanoinds in natlan yokai in inazuma or melusines in fountaine we have so many diffrent races why always human or i idk exuvia zhongli

  12. I do agree with with point but you would not have an equally hard time with both the best and the worst characters in the game because the quicker you kill something the less chances it has to hit you

  13. Genshin powercreep is mostly about accessibility to damage. A lot of the early characters cons don't improve their damage much (Keqing and Diluc exceptions of course) while the newer character's get an almost flat 30% dmg increase at c1 and another 30-40% dmg bonus at c2.

However, the real power creep isn't because of the dps that come out. Arleccino and hu tao do theoretically the same damage at the same investment level (until c2, then arle takes off like a rocket comparatively) it's mostly because of how supports interact with the dps that breaks the metas, often. For example, Xilonen didn't powercreep Kazuha out – they work good together and benefit different teams relatively equally (Kazuha on dendro based teams is still goated for the 200 em buff, xilonen on vape, melt, overload), but xilonen enables the natlan dps MORE than any other dps. This makes playing natlan characters without xilonen feel bad.

  14. I have been clearing the Abyss since 2.3 on every run with my Noelle. This game isn't that hard. Even the Local Legends can die to any character because they are overworld enemies so you have access to things like food and near infinite healing.

  15. I get this and partially agree. However, I've been genuinely baffled by the shit Chasca can do. I have her at C0 with ok-ish artifacts and she's just deleting whatever I point her ridiculous gun at.

  16. Powercreep does exist but what is the point? It's a single player game. If your argument is you have a harder time in the abyss with older characters then get something new and braindead like Neuvilette. If you don't want to do that because you want to use your favorite character that's even better cuz you're actually playing the game now.

Powercreep doesn't matter in Genshin until it's impossible for older characters to clear content anymore. What matters is how you have fun on your own.
