wow the chat was PAINFUL 😀
Dish's little dance at 1:08:00 just made my whole day better somehow
For the sanctifying elixirs people seem to miss the fact they say you can get them from sacrificing upgraded artifacts as well 😀 so not entirely pay to win!
Shark girl and minecraft boy
I feel like people don’t consider the possibility that Hoyo employees don’t have anything against more color, but that doesn’t change the fact they live in a country that does and are surrounded by a community that has called their government to try and ruin the company for far less controversial issues.
Like I wouldn’t be surprised if maybe there’s a few bad eggs in the company, but this is also the same company that dances lightly with lgbt stuff in their games while maintaining plausible deniability. I just think it’s 10 times harder to do that with skin tone for obvious reasons. They aren’t a western company with the exact same consequences and freedom to make certain things as they please. I would love more people that look like me but I get that it’s probably not as simple or as safe to do so.
I haven't seen anyone say it but I like how my initial impression seeing mavuika's hair turn yellow she looks like she went super saiyan
HELOOOO DEAR VIEWERS quick note on the ~chat~ during this stream: a lot of non-regular twitch viewers join twitch streams on livestream days and that can sometimes lead to a chaotic environment, and it definitely did in this controversial livestream day where I also had a mix of opinions. So while many of the topics were worth discussing, the tone / manner of speech of many chatters is not the type that I am proud of. My apologies for not setting more restrictive settings on my chat earlier!
I'm also aware that a lot of you will not agree with my perspective on a lot of points, and I am fine with that! i've responded to a few important ones but probably won't be past this point. Feel free to discuss in comments but KEEP IT RESPECTFUL. TY.
I was in the livestream and my prayers has been answered. Dish was in the livestream and said “Guys lets try to summon dish”
Thank you for this ☺️☺️☺️
Dish i had to say this, i watched the whole thing before checking any other streamers, so i had my own justification on how awesome the stream is, then i go around and check others reaction about it. But your review in the end is what throw me off. Why can't that we show some respect and love and appreciation towards the dev that being work hard for? We always complain this and that about the dev not listen, look back at all the changes and QoL being implemented, it always there, it just took time, did they listen? YES THEY DID! It just took time. And when the dev and Da Wei showing expression how they been through the time where words was spoken harshly especially you CC who always took things into controversy and drama. It suppose to be an awesome conversation, yet you had to putting assumption and change the narrative into something controversy. "Double meaning? They hinting something? They were silenced at some line they not suppose to crossed?" Please, stop these nonsense speculation, it does more harm than help to the community. They dev and Da Wei already show enough frustration and you had to put pressure on them by spreading another controversy idea. The dev listen, they are hurt, they try their best to fixed it, it takes time, the community don't have patience, blames them, DEVNOTLISTEN, is that simple. You're a content creator with bunch of community with you, your words have power and influence, be responsible with your action and consequences of your speech.
FREE 5 STAR? IS THIS REALITY?
I think Kachina will be my one only Natlan character for the entire Natlan saga (Im broke) :/
i'm so excited for natlan! i was feeling very meh at first, but after this stream i can feel my hyperfixation coming back lol. those baby saurians look so cuuute, music is PEAK, and looks like we might be getting quite a bit of abyss lore
as for the more controversial stuff, i have lots of thoughts so sorry for the long ramble and this is just /my/ opinion obviously everyone will feel differently
i'm Mexican and when i heard Natlan had Aztec and Mayan inspo i was so excited. but also a lil concerned on how they would mesh the two together plus whatever other culture they were grabbing. after the trailer and concert, i cant wait for patch to drop, i can already tell ill have such a blast exploring
my biggest concern was that they would go the stereotype route of apply sepia filter, less developed /everything/, lazy, and dangerous representation we so often get in movies. i'm so tired of telling people im visiting my parents in Mexico and them asking if im not scared to live there, or 'jokingly' telling me not to drink the water
seeing the more modern twist and color splashes all over made me so happy. the feathers and bright colors remind me of the very bright colorful older neighborhoods in central Mexico (ive also seen them in coastal Chile so probs not just a Mexican thing but i hate speaking for other latino countries when idk for sure).
as far as characters go, i like most of them, but mostly waiting until we see their backstories and personalities. i think im mostly looking forward to the pink haired girl and kinich (and capitano lmao)
tbh, i never thought we would get characters with darker tan (moreno+) skin tones. cant be disappointed if you dont hope and all that… maybe because of the pretty bad colorism issue in Mexico and other latino countries.
i'm used to not seeing lots of diverse skintones in my own local media, so didn't expect it from a foreign country either. 'growing up, any 90s-00s telenovelas and local programming would have actors with pale skin, maaaaybe light tan, dark hair and hazel/green/blue eyes. all mostly Mexican or maybe latino actors/actresses, but still ones with obviously more Spanish than indigenous traits. from what I've heard, south east Asia is just as bad if not worse with their beauty standards/colorism so i just couldn't see it, especially in a 'pretty anime game'.
obviously, i would still love it if they did end up adding more obviously POC playable characters because i really do think representation is important and we can all benefit from seeing more diverse casts in media. but i most admit i also dont have lots of energy by keeping myself angry over it. hoyoverse would need to do something affecting the real world for me to put energy towards a boycott (like funding warcrimes or 'hiring' foreign workers and not paying them fairly)
i can see why some people do care, but i just personally dont have leftover energy after getting home from work to care too deeply over the game i use to destress with. for the people that do care tho, all the more power to you and i truly seriously hope that hoyoverse takes more steps towards a better, more diverse game <3
its just such a bittersweet moment because different departments like the music one, definitely tried to be more culturally aware to the different cultures being represent, etc and then you see the environment that its in and its just really beautiful, they even added a variety of npcs of different skin color no matter how bare minimum it is but they just can't do playable ones
The live symphony was definitely the highlight of this stream for me, and even that I have a mixed bag of emotions.
On one side I am overjoyed to see the diversity and representation being featured in it and that their performance was absolutely breathtaking! 💖
On the other I'm sad because said representation can't also be said in-game. I can see the diversity yes, but why is it only limited to the NPCs (and at worse on enemies we have to fight for materials) but not the playable characters? 💔
It just further amplifies the issue that they are capable of giving people representation with grace but can't do the same when it comes to being concerned about what's marketable or not.
I mean every instrument is native to somewhere.
I think the way you have spoken up for what you want Genshin, the game, and the community to be is great. How you have spoken about the colorism issue has always struck me as sincere. I have such a great respect for people who love something but want it to be better. Not only have you voiced your criticisms, but you have also enjoyed what has been done well with this new patch. As comments pour in, I just wanted to say my piece: you have my respect, and the content you put out has always put a smile on my face or a valuable thought in my head.
Apart from the ofc blatant skin tones I think this is probably the best .0 version livestream yet. The changes are minor and major and having a free 5 star helps and a 5% over rider and extra everything is just way better. They even stated there will be more characters added to the standard banner which may be a win or loss depending but all in all definitely a big win
My take is
The moment you view thing in a negative and narrow light its always going to be wrong. No matter how many good won't right the wrong. That is your baseline.
So no matter what after all this boycott and drama expose all this CC we can see that who really cares and who really just in for the hype and its their job. Yeah they are not many doing it for liking it but its just life.
So every CC going in negative sure will not come out happy as and nitpick every single thing. You would think people read book knows more about life but they don't and get involve in all the twitter crap. These people are more scare bsc they are knowledgeable and common sense don't work but never do anything to make a better change rather make thing more worst.
People being lowkey racist during the orchestra was so sad to experience, not just Dish's chat but every cc, the disrespect calling them wakanda and stuff, people showing their real colors isn't that ironc?, also, I don't believe a singular person actually cares about representation when they act like buffoons irl, only want to instigate hate, and revolt just for the sake of it, yes the game could include more dark skinned playable characters, but who cares is just a game and making something so irrelevant as a skin color in a fictional character makes me think people are so stranded from reality and the real world problems, we should separate fiction from real world, believe me makes things more enjoyable
Dish laugh at tuonto, zyox also make fun of him. Truly siblings moments 😂😂😂
Respectfully speaking, i couldnt care about anything else (the qol, increased rewards etc) except the music performance. Absolute peak
Extremely hilarious that they decided to implement "parkour-like" movement in Natlan instead of Fontaine.
15:20 they had one content creator for all the voices languages. Chinese, Japanese, English speaker, and Korean.
Thanks for your review of the livestream. Truth be told, I was disappointed to see bigger hoyo creators acknowledge the cultural issues less and less. Especially after the reward announcements.
I thought you had gone down that route. I apologize for making assumptions in that regard.
I appreciate you being so informative and giving your honest opinion on how things were handled.
very excited for the update! i hope they fully adress the skin.tone issue (if i understand corect its.more complicated than simply editing.skin texture) in later versions, but even jusr seeing npcs with my hairtype (dreadlocs, with multiple styles.too! very good reference for my original characters) already make.me very happy, it seem theyre doing what they can and im glad but i agreethar they can do better ❤
p.s. sorry for.bad typing, phone keyboard not so nice to me..
are we really use the word representation for the game that make raiden a hot female god (and no one complaint about it i guess) and sexualize miko clothing. why is it different know?
So good to see the music culture being fully fitting and appropriate. That's where I wanna see the real representation in culture.
I still can’t believe we haven’t gotten a singular Alice reveal yet 🫠
Genshin could 🗿🤝
Dodged a bullet with this channel
I cried while listening to the music… It's so good
Edit: I teared up while listening to it again here lol … It makes me so emotional idk why 🥹
I was looking forward to your reaction on natlan livestream because you're one of the ccs i watch but your chat made it so unbearable to watch the twitch vod that i decided to just wait for you to upload here instead so thank you for the upload!
Does she not know that dreadlocks are not black thing. Crybabies are everywhere in the chat 🤡
I’m literally graduating with genshin impact what 💀
Its not acknowledgement that they wanna add dark characters because they don't have to. Nobody other than some sad souls cry about it.
None of these people talked about Disney's blackwashing and now these idots cry about a game lmao
this may be the best combat music in genshin. but enkanomiya is not far behind
Let's go Natlan 🔥
Ew the chat is insufferable.
I'm sorry but not even melanin could save Chasca's design lol her outfit is an eyesore, this is the first character design in Genshin that makes me want to look away.
that « I hear my people but I don’t see my people » when the music was playing is crazy. surely some of y’all are not gonna start to ostracise black people who took part in that concert
Honestly can't wait for the behind the music in Natlan video, I'm really excited to see the process they went through to make this, it was so good.
i always loved dish's genshin content and her channel was the first one that i checked for a reaction. but holy shit that stream was annoying as hell. the chat acts like we point a gun to their head to play this game. everything felt so forced and everyone was soooo negative despite many good news. this is a FREE game and you don't have to play it if you don't like it. and the company does not owe you shit. yes we're all pissed at the lack of dark skin characters but this is a chinese company and u know their culture and how obsessed they are with being white. i get it but they represent everything else so well. that symphony was incredible but people who complain the most about inclusivity were the most disrespectful ones while REAL people were on screen performing cultural content. if u don't enjoy the game just don't play and don't watch the livestream. it seems like dish's community is now just looking for something to hate on.
Genshin is not a cultural showcase, it's a cultural gateway, and they are doing an amazing job with cultural exposure for a free game. Don't be DISHingenuous.
