I think the sages already knew that Nahida is Rukkhadevata herself, but were disappointed that their god was reduced to a mere child that did not know anything about the world. Like those scholar said from Eremites, the sages hit a dead end when it comes to knowledge and wisdom, because their God of Wisdom that was supposed to guide them was no longer her former self.
If only the sages had guided Nahida at her path to becoming a god once again, just like how she guided all these sages to wisdom and knowledge when she was still Rukkhadevata….

What I love about the whole community is that we are really great at solving Theories and Lores. Hoyoverse giving us puzzles of what will happen in the next quest and we, the whole community, would solve the puzzle. Then the next thing, is that the puzzle we solved turns out to be correct.
