The story behind Qiqi is that she was a child picking herbs and was fatally injured by the adepti fighting demons, this caused her to not want to die, which gave her a vision, and because of that the adepti noticed her and revived her as a zombie. She then was sealed until the events of the game because she handle the overflowing energy. She sounds monotone because she's a zombie.
