  1. The problem with Sara and Gorou is that they are not healer. (Gorou locked behind cons).

But just wait until mihoyo releases an enemy/mechanic that can remove field buff like Bennett's Q.
    and everybody loses their mind.

  2. I’ve only ever used Bennett with my full geo team which is probably his least value. I’ve not grown tired of him because I don’t abuse his kit or try to force him into every one of my team comps

  3. To me Bennett(and Zhongli and Ganyu)are the main reasons why i don't like the meta in this game, that and making characters stronger in dps depends on artifact rng. And this is coming from somebody who also enjoys playing Bennett and even for me, i still find him to be a problem because of his capabilities.

The main problem is that Genshin Impact direction is more dps focused and anything that doesn't benefit that dps including characters understandable doesn't interest a lot of players. Thats why healers are so devalued like Qiqi, Kokomi, Jean and Barbara, because healing isn't as much of a necessary thing for the direction of this game sense it doesn't benefit dps. Even support characters that me certain team builds like Kujou Sara and Gorou are not as versatile anyway.

Compare all that with Bennetts low energy cost and the fact that he can not only heal but also boost up your attack damage based on his base attack, its no surprise he's the best support in the game. Which to me makes the meta worse when I only see the same few characters at the top and it makes it so that the teams people make are pretty much the same, not to mention dps showcases essentially being Bennett showcases.

In other words, I don't want Bennett or Zhongli and Ganyu to be nerfed sense that would be less fun and it wouldn't fix other characters flaws. I just wish Mihoyo would do something in order to change the design of characters in this game, specifically Healers and Sheilders, sense need to benefit something when it comes to dps and not just healing and shielding sense that doesn't benefit the direction of this game. I know there not going to sense but all its going to do is is to make the Genshin impact undervalue characters in the game right now and future characters as well. Even if the future characters are balanced it doesn't matter sense they didn't balance the op characters, sense most people aren't going to waste primogems on characters that are balanced but op instead. It sucks because I like characters like Xinyan, Thoma, Kokomi and a lot of other characters in this game regardless of tier lists, not just because of character design but gameplay well, and I'm also intrigued by future characters like Arataki Itto, Gorou, Shenhe, Yun jin but sadly i know most of the characters in the game and in the future are going to be undervalued by the Genshin community because characters like Bennett, Zhongli, and Ganyu exist and there not wrong in there reasons, and i want mihoyo to change that but most likely there not, and thats disappointing.

  4. In my opinion, Bennett being too good is not a unique case in game design. In Magic the Gathering, there are early sets of cards that are universally too good such that every new set of cards or new mechanics have to be always worse then those. Another example is Pot of Greed in Yugioh where the effect seems benign but it is still universally banned for being too good. What we can learn from these examples is that early cards and characters aren't broken because the developers intended for it, they are broken because the developers cannot know every possible way how the community can maximize the characters. If you told mihoyo before 1.0 that snapshotting is a thing, that internal cool downs or lack of ICD for reactions are a thing (this is why elegy amber is super scary), and that 4 4 star characters on release dubbed the national team will be the standard team that everything is compared too, the people at mihoyo wouldn't believe you. It is through extensive community testing, experimenting and playing the game that the community was able to figure these things out and make characters like bennett and xingqiu worth even more. However Mihoyo is also watching these things and how the community actually plays their game instead of relying on how they think the community will play their game. So Mihoyo also adjusts accordingly. They release side grade characters that won't break the game but at the same time provide different and interesting game play. They release new artifact sets that improve certain archetypes. They push harder for character lore and personality to sell their character rather than pure gameplay value. More importantly they don't just release new broken characters and mechanics because you can only break the game so many times before it gets boring and becomes an expectation. Especially a casual PvE game like genshin.

  5. I do think that because of Bennett there is more diversity when it comes to team comps, after all he is pretty much all you want in a support (excluding the ability to make shields). The problem with Bennett is also that, he's so good, literally any meta melt or vaporize comps can't be the best without him there. I'm not saying they shouldn't use Bennett because of his OPness, they just can.

I'm glad that MHY is starting to come up with some really out of the box comps, and I think there are gonna be more mono-comps in the future. Hopefully they won't go overboard with the whole mono-comps, because that'll make the game more restricting.

  6. I only use Bennett in my Ganyu melt party. Since getting Mona spooked I can finally compose a freeze party. Bennett will forever be benched when new party is made and effective.
Now I have to figure out how to get rid of Xingqui from my Hu Tao party. He's also a favorite and we'll never see another character like him.

  7. Eh. It's whatever. I just pretend he doesn't exist. I only use him for expeditions and 2 Acquaint Fates. Other than that, he is as good as non-existent in my world of Genshin. I still clear Abyss faster than 90% of the people who use him. It helps that he is inconsequential to the world's lore.

  8. I love your made up skits the most, you should also just do full videos of them, they’re amazing. Genshin doesn’t have any fake story content creators as well so you’d claim the entire niche.

  9. With characters like Bennett, Xingqiu, Xiangling and Diona being too good of four-stars I can't help but appreciate Mihoyo's effort in designing more niche characters with the Inazuma character release. Sure, they are a struggle to put in teams that can become meta, but it also prevents from creating characters that are way too redundant in the future.

  10. I cleared the most recent floor 12 without Bennett in my teams

Xiao with Sucrose, Diona, and Albedo

Ayaka with Mona, Rosaria, and Jean

But then again these teams have plenty of 5 Stars in them… Benny can really help clear abyss without the needs of 5 stars. Shows how powerful Bennett is lol

  11. I actually think he was intentionally made to be super strong. His entire personality and backstory revolves around people not wanting to join his teams, and some developer at Mihoyo thought the idea of that becoming a reality for the character by making him a niche support for an early-game five star would just be too sad. So rather than make him a pyro Chongyun, they made him the Pyro Archon.

  12. Tbh i played bennet because i feel sorry for him , used to build him for meta purpose and never really touch him in overworld. But, after reading his character story and hangout quest, i do feel sorry for the pain he suffered, so i still take him out on strolls with my klee 😅

But looking from a ‘meta’/game design perspective, i don’t really like bennet since i don’t like OP characters. It’s a bit more justified if he’s more mechanically complex, but he’s just a e&q spam. He also enabled xiangling to be a burst dps which is one of the ‘broken’ comps.

Though i won’t deny that he helped me in early days of abyss when i don’t have that many character. Although he’s not a ‘must’ for abyss actually, I tried abyss without zhongli and bennet and it is still very possible, since (thankfully) taser and freeze comps are still good in abyss.

  13. I would not say his overloaded kit is a lack of hindsight from MHY though. The game started with few character back then if he was as niche as the current 4* running a team would have been painful, Xingqiu and him needed to have a bit of anything to make team building at the time easier. Same holds true for Ningguang, Sucrose, Xiangling, Fischl and the likes.
Even after the launch 4* other units like Diona and Xinyan (get pass the split scaling and look how overloaded her kit also is) were released who could do a lot too. Rosaria and Yanfei also have hidden potential in their kits but in comparison to the previous char they feel more limited. Sayu then came in and become mostly an alternative to Jean, much like Sara and Gorou to Bennett. MHY released universal char to facilitate teambuilding and introducing more would overlap with others at some point forcing one unit to just be better than the other which would shorten the games lifespan.

But I will say that there was a lack of foresight, they most likely didn't expect Bennett to be the conerstone of majority of the teams in the game, they just wanted a character that would ease building team in the early days of the game without suspecting the game to be based entirely on him.
Which wouldn't have happened if he wasn't universal.
They're more cautious now about it and use 80 cost energy as a control device to make sure the unit goes where they want and nowhere else (which I suspected is probably also due to Rosaria which they didn't plan on making good in melt).

The game probably needed more time before it's release date (lots of early voice over mistake, bugs and possible story direction shows it needed it) but due to lack of time and foresight, he was released as universal as he is.
Good news is they can use him as a powerlevel delimiter if they ever want to make a character that synergize with him (how strong that characters need to be to feel good while not broken).

  14. All it took me was one look at his constellations to know he was possibly the most broken character in the game, I remember saying this a lot to my Brother and my circle of friends, telling them that the Tier lists were all wrong, but to no avail. Like usual, it's easier to trust the words of a stranger who makes public tier lists.
I'm honestly 100% against ignoring his c6, it doesn't matter how good of a support he is, the moment you ignore one of his features for pathetic meta reasons you are going against the game design itself.
It's already enough that people completely underrate the value of ATK buffs through weapons and artifacts in favor of running franknstein setups "because Bennett exists", while forgetting that EM buffs and elemental shred exists, using them only on teams with Bennett. Mihoyo's greatest failure was making his c6 into a constelation and not an in built feature of his elemental burst.
To be Honest I only like using him when he is an active character, his complete lack of good pyro application makes me think of him as a bad support even though he has enormous value in atk buffs.
Although I play this game to cause reactions so that's the problem

  16. That time, game was in its initial stages, none knew how to properly play n find loopholes, META was non-existent back then, even bennet was regarded as trash initially.
Even Mihoyo didn't know they created a monster support.

  17. I just run C4 Raiden with Kujou Sara and my Ayaka already has a Bennet Buff. With Kokomi in the team I have effectively replaced the entire utility of that character. Mind you, ALL THE UTILITY. That is, if you want to build a healer Bennet, I have it covered. Buffer? Already covered with Raiden C4 and E. Damage dealer Bennet? Pfff, my single Kokomi can do better solo whilst healing and tanking and applying off-field hydro without sacrificing on any aspect.

Bennet is usless on my account. And if you play with enough intelligence, on yours too (even at C0).

  18. Yo where's my early five star Albedo is almost gone and I have no primos 🙁
It's funny because Bennett was on the lower tiers back in the day, even if he was a Diluc support everyone called him "a four star Diluc", goes to show just how unlucky he really is.
They might release a few dendro supports in the future that will have to be universal, until we get good dendro dpses. Though being honest I quite like the niche supports now (waiting for Pyro Xingqiu for Kokomi).
