Azhdaha and Morax History | The Will of Azhdaha | Genshin Impact

#Zhongli #Morax #Azhdaha

Spoiler Alert: Why are there two Azhdahas? This cutscene is very important because it tells the story of Azhdaha and their relationship with Morax (Zhongli). Is the Girl Jiu really just a personified Azhdaha?

  1. In China, there is a folk tale about a young man have magic brush that can make the drawing into real thing. One day, the man draw a dragon. To finish the masterpiece, all he has to do is draw the eyes of the dragon. When the brush 'd done it final touch, the dragon becomes a life, flies to the sky and disappeares in to the could. Have to said, mihoyo dev have done a great job – both of gameplay and the plot.

  3. This scene will always fascinate me and hold me in awe because of the amount of symbolism in it.

There's the whole theme of "erosion [of memories]", which is always interesting. Azhdaha, despite being essentially brought to life by Morax and given the "gift of sight", eventually "eroded" and forgot about the truth, especially upon being sealed away – he forgot about Morax and how he regarded him, and he forgot about who he himself was. There was some part of him that held on to those memories – the part that we see represented as Kun Jun here – but in the end, his anger and the erosion took over and overshadowed it all.

The fact that Azhdaha was also depicted as two people, a child and an adult, creates another interesting thing about maturity. Azhdaha was sealed away because he broke the contract with Morax and brought chaos to the world. Part of him was enraged, completely angered by Morax's actions, and thus grew to "hate" him – this was the child side of him, represented by Jiu. Meanwhile, part of Azhdaha knew that Morax is not to blame, only he himself is, since Azhdaha did break the contract – this was the adult side of him, represented by Kun Jun. These two sides, the immature child as well as the mature adult, really shows Azhdaha's inner conflict with himself as well as his eventual resolution to own up to the error of his ways.

TLDR; Azhdaha really told his other, childish side of him to grow the hell up.
