As much i hate farming for artifacts I'm a bit lucky with good pieces compare to star rail. Star rail confuses me with Speed stats.
Just thinking about having to level my newly acquired Miko makes me tired. Artifact grinding is too damn tedious, I just use what I got and move on. I want to retain my sanity.
My artifact tip, you don't need good artifacts even for 36 star abyss. Focus on guaranteed improvements and roll with the punches. I've spent over 10,000 resin in the Denouncement of Sin domain and I still don't have a top 50% character while equipping artifacts from there.

If only they give the same probability for every stat and substat it would be nice. But I am sure def and hp have a higher probability than all the other stats.

Don't forget that there's the hidden luck mechanic of Genshin Impact. Your domain farming luck changes everyday. Just like how your luck in those Narukami Shrine Bamboo Slips changes each day.
This is coming at the perfect time for me. I'm at AR 43 and already feeling the artifact and resource pressure. I knew I was in it for the long haul though, so I don't mind the game loop. I have a feeling that I will eventually want there to be a little more to do in endgame, but for now when I'm out of resin I still have a lot of story to go through.
How about Mihoyo stops trolling us and being anti consumer? There is VERY little if any benefit to them to make artifacts this random and hard to get. If anything it makes us NOT want to pull for a new character because of it. They know what stats we want. Make those stats easier and make things like defense harder to accidentally get. Obviously a defense oriented artifact set you can make an exception, but overall they make our lives miserable. They could also fix it by letting us reroll the main stat on an artifact a few times at least in more hopes of getting lucky.
SUBSTATS ARE MORE IMPORTANT THAN ARTIFACT BONUSES
ONLY use fragile resin on character/weapon ascension. ONLY use daily resin on artifacts. Remember, 1200 resin is merely a week of daily resin. 1200 fragile resin is MONTHS of saving.
i play this game since 3 years. what i learn: 1. charakter, 2. the weaopon, 3. talents and at last artefacts. 🎉
tipp: befor c3/c5 look that ur talent are on lvl. 7. with that u can skip two lvl up. less mora , less books. u must be ar45 for that.
18:14 literally me, I have so many pieces that don't have more than 20CV but they have other substats that allow me to clear Spiral Abyss easily xD
Unfortunately I'm always capped on +1800 artifacts because I can't use them as exp material xD
star rail relics are much worse
Honestly Star Rail is pretty overwhelming too for beginners 😅
Personal advice: Just enjoy the game. Don't waste your time chasing after perfect artifacts because hyperbloom team with trash artifacts will still clear most content.
Well said Sevy. as a Day 1 player, my personal advice is based on experience. (1) 2pc combos are okay – stat quality, over set bonus. (2) for so-so quality artifacts, level up breakpoints 4/8/12/16 to save resources and create quality fodders. number and quality of Crit/ER/EM rolls determines when i full send or stop rolling (3) expect nothing from artifact farming, take what you receive. (4) you might want to burn 50 from time to time. good luck traveler, you cannot beat or brute force rng, it will come in time. 😂😂

This is a great guide, and I strongly agree with @sevyplays when it comes to overvaluing CV. That, and leveraging stats over sets (most of the time) and 2pc +2pc.
My Navia has 80/200 crit ratio without any 2pc bonus and she is already strong enough to clear abyss. 4pc bonus + good crit ratio is just for show how much you love those charactors everthough they are already strong enough. 😂
I do believe those artifact-run artifacts are just for the mora. They don't give that much artifact exp for the time you spend on them.

I used to max crit ratios but recently learned that I got more damage by dropping 20-30 crit damage in exchange for 36%atk substats. My ayaka is perfectly balanced now 4pc blizzard 39 cr, 262 cd, 126 er and 2200atk.
I've gotten almost all my Viridescent pieces in the Strongbox. Never touching that domain again 😂

I've been trying to get artifacts for all my characters for a while and these tips are super useful. Rly, don't get obsessed with numbers. If you get a comfy ER and 1:2 crit with a salad of artifacts that's ok! Sure, gilded Alhaitham with 70-200 crit looks sexy, but mine's 69-198 2pc-2pc clears the abyss the same and let me have a bunch of others characters ready to play c:
Edit: ok, Haitham numbers are pretty haha but xiangling with 45-98 and 270er is also cute and good enough for any event/abyss
I get the desired main stats, the right set, put it on the character, and move on to the next character.
Advice for new players: don’t worry abt ur character being not built and delay AR 45. Use coop.
The 2+2 example at 10:59 is exactly my Alhaitham (that I used to 3-star that silly Wenut in the Abyss).
I have a full Guilded Dreams set but after dumping my account into the Genshin Optimizer it reminded me that two of my Wanderer’s Troupe pieces have much better EM and Crit. Therefore I have 2 Wanderer, 2 Guilded.
My advice is to keep your expectations low, it's better to be pleasantly surprised than constantly be disappointed 😂😂😂😂
So one tip that I think does need to be mentioned on the topic of Crit Value. While yes you do want additional good substats to compliment crits there is point where getting too much of it isn't more valuable than Crit. I always have considered things like Atk% and ER/EM to be like seasoning on food. You certainly want these stats on the piece but they are lower priority to Crit. You don't want the seasoning overpowering the dish. For example if a piece is a 4 liner with double Crit, ER and Atk% thats but rolls only into ER and Atk% its still a bad piece in my eyes. It has all the right stats but they are distributed in a way that isn't good. It might seem like I am overvaluing Crit stats but here the extra boatload of Atk and ER isn't going to make it better than a piece with the same substats that rolled more evenly into each stat or rolled more heavily into Crits.

It's even worse in Star Rail because there are 6 relics per person and farming 2 of them requires the simulated universe which is a borefest and takes longer.

7 – which substat line 2
8 – how much of the sub stat line 2, min roll to max roll

11 – which substat line 4
12 – how much of the sub stat line 4, min roll to max roll
13 – lvl4 which stat goes up
14 – lvl4 how much does it go up
15 – lvl8 which stat goes up

17 – lvl12 which stat goes up

Thats not even taking into account that drop rates for the stats you want are skewed so heavily towards the bad stats we avoid. Flat Atk/HP/Def are the most likely to show up, then % stats, then the stuff we really want way below being Crit, ER and EM. Not just substats either, of course Elemental Dmg, Crit, EM, and ER mainstats are the hardest to get on their relevant artifacts. AND THEN your only allowed to farm artifacts a few times a day because it cost a limited resource to get them, the same limited resource you have to use for character and weapon enhancement materials and the Exp and money needed to do everything in the game so if your farming artifacts you cant be getting your other materials and vice versa. The artifact system is atrocious and aggressively anti-player.

As for my tip for newer players; when you use the strongbox early on make sure to prioritize your support sets! It's very important to have a few 4 piece sets of Viridescent Venerer, Noblesse Oblige and Emblem of Severed fate. Don't be afraid to use some of the offensive pieces on your DPS characters as 2 piece set. Most can make good use of burst damage % and energy recharge! Secondly if you can afford to always prioritize putting unwanted 4 star artifacts into the strongbox instead of using them to level your keeper artifacts! It's much better value as long as you can find other ways to level them. I spent my first year doing daily artifact runs in the overworld. It gives you enough artifact XP to level 3-4 gold artifacts to level 4 per day. If those didn't turn out well you now have a great source of fodder for other artifacts.
I wish somebody would've told me how horrible artifact farming is.
