  1. This was originally a scripted video discussing the pros and cons of the Fontaine Story Quest, but about two minuets into the recording i realized I didn't even believe my own cons, and there was no way in hell i was going to be able to get across how i actually felt properly in a scripted format as a result the following turned into a twenty minute rant about Genshin Best Questline

  2. 1. As a person who appreciates not spoiling people immediately, you have my respect for waiting for a week to talk about the quest.

    2. I sincerely hope that the upward trend in story quality since the chasm update is gonna keep being an upward trend, cuz every time a new main story has come out since the chasm has just been getting better and better.

  3. A human given an impossible task to play a God for over 500 years a she didn't slip up once, Furina is such a great character. Focalors outsmarted those stinky hypocrites in the sky perfectly. Natlan has got an insane job to do now though, it was my most hyped region but i don't see how it's topping this.(I also like how Capitano is getting hyped up since he's one of the strongest people in Teyvat right now)

  4. Literally the only thing negative I can say was the jail arc dragged on a bit. Other than that the end result was well worth it. I used to shit talk Furina cause I was tired of the “archons are useless trope” but this one finally made sense and I liked how it was a big reveal.

  5. tbh I love everything about Furina's story (archon quest) and the big moments were perfect

but I felt bored a lot in the archon quest overall (4.0 -4.2) and I felt betrayed when I realized that the story line that I was the most excited about "Childe" and 'the whale" was in fact a tool to introduce Skirk which is lame

also 4.1 was a joke nothing interesting in two acts only the last half of act 4 was a bit interesting yet has almost no real effect to overall story

another complaint was "The Knave" I was so interested how she would play in all of this, in the end she did nothing except helping a little bit I wanted to see her interfere more in the story and has a big effect in it 🙁

  6. 9/10 story
I think however the cataclysm wasnt done good. We had to witness the raiseing levels and the ppl strugle and fear in order to have more emotional impact. The sheep of Wryo aslo apear in only 5 sec clips.
I aslo find kinda funny that nation of Hydro with a lots of ships cannot buils ark ships in case water really rise.

  7. I think it's for the better you tossed the script, it just sounds so much more authentic this way, I think.

Anyways, I will forever stand that 4.0 story was just alright, 4.1 was really bad, but it was all worth for 4.2, bah, it was worth going through all 5 regions just for this one archon quest. If I'm being honest I do not often cry when playing games, but in all my years of playing Furina is the third time I felt so sad because of a bunch of pixels.
I was almost devastated for a moment there, because I know I would never be able to bear so much pain all by myself, even with somebody to share my troubles it would be nigh impossible, and she didn't even want to open up before the traveler, so that her efforts are not futile. The only other characters I ever felt so much compassion towards were the Hollow Knight and Mio and Noah from Xenoblade Chronicles.

    Back to Furina
The scene where she just fell on her t"hrone" with tears in her eyes, that was the moment that broke me, and I think people the fact that this scene is pretty much the prophecy fulfilled for Furina alone. Nobody believed her, so she was alone, surrounded by people judging her, weeping on the "throne" by herself, and since she was found out, she was sure the people of Fontaine will die, because she did not keep them believing her to be the archon. It was just heartbreaking.

  8. My favorite part about this quest is how focalors appeared in one scene, was more interesting than like 90% of the cast, and then immediately DIED 💀💀💀
Edit: also another thing that i really like and you pointed out was just how deceptively important indemnitium was to this quest, cuz if you think about it im pretty sure it was talked about at least once in every chapter except chapter three (but we dont talk about that one lmao)

  9. would you look at that, one of the main elements that made this Archon Quest arguably better than others is that the game focus most of it’s experience telling the story instead of using Paimon as the mouthpiece for every single thing like being emotion announcer, the jokes repeater, plot recapper, solutions provider(still does alot though) etc.

  10. I think Furina herself was good. It's details in the quest outside of her arc that I think were kind of a letdown.

Arlecchino really felt like a wasted character given how much the marketing hyped her up.

  11. I'm so glad I'm not alone in loving this story. Both Furina and Focalors are heroes. And Furina in particular did something I don't remember any other Genshin character do. You know how everyone adores the Traveler for no apparent reason and gives them anything and everything they want.

She managed to deny the Traveler's request to tell them the truth when they were in the magic box. Then later, when the Traveler watches the scenes from her life, they get a replay of that conversation, and you can see how shocked they are to find out, that even if they had had the time and the box wasn't opened on stage, Furina would still have kept her secret. Because it was the secret safeguarding her people.

Her will is so strong and her heart so pure with intent, she can even resist the ridiculous godlike charm that the writers just gave to the MC. This has been an annoying characteristic of the MC they just informed us as players about, and I'm glad someone basically told the Traveler they're not the most important being to ever exist, and it fills me with joy.

  12. Fontaine Story Quest is so damn good and even through there is a happy ending it’s not all sunshine and rainbows cause there are people who dissolved into water before hand and they didn’t magically come back to life they are gone for good.

The prison arc does feel like filler majority of the time solving mysteries and interacting with various NPCs that could have been skip but I like how the prison is portrayed as a good thing. The people there majority of them are happy and rather stay when their sentence is done then go back up to the surface and be judged for having a criminal record. They can work for coupons (money), have free meals, have a nurse, and can take days off, etc.

  13. I like how the very first instance of Furina being “not what she seems” so to speak, is her very introduction. In Romaritime Harbor, she rolls in with a posse of guards, and in an attempt to showboat, she challenges the Traveler to a fight then and there. However, the Traveler doesn’t back down and accepts her challenge. Only then does she back off, which doesn’t go unnoticed by the Traveler. And like you said, Soul: Even Venti could wreck someone’s shit if he wanted to. In hindsight, that was the first clue.

  14. The one minor but big thing I’ve noticed hoyo doing is mastering the art of artistic timing. You never realize and appreciate the nuance of how many times they intentionally slow down moments in the story, during certain sequences and what not.

The most importantly and obvious example people may have experience is the fact that the auto play button simply doesn’t work in the story (the story progresses even when the option is off during certain segments), which to some may be a bit baffling, but imo that strange choice elevated the immersion of the story—I’ve watched some reactions to the 4.2 story and THEY DIDNT EVEN NOTICE AUTOPLAY WAS OFF

  15. After starting to pay even more attention to Genshin Impact's lore since Fontaine's release, Act 5 of Fontaine's story was thoroughly satisfying and foreshadowed.

It's sad that I cannot say the same for Star Rail, there's many consistency errors and things revealed in the story that don't naturally line up with the lore in comparison to Genshin, like Pela's age not fitting into the timeline of Belobog at all being a more known one. There's also the fact that I think latter half of the Xianzhou story just wasn't that good, It felt a bit like Inazuma all over again, put in a cool ending so people forget the issues of the overall story. Oh and don't even get me started on Belobog's story, but at least that story is known to have gone through a rewrite

But the saving grace is that the dialogue and characters are well written, It's ratio of characters I'd consider to have good writing is higher than Genshin's, the only characters I consider to be a miss in Star Rail are Blade and Guinaifen, but I only put Guinaifen there because she straight up doesn't have screentime

    Also godlike transition at 2:14

  16. The only thing I didn't like about the story (outside of fortress quests) is the fact that Hoyo crippled Traveler since Inazuma. They just stopped using elemental powers because… reasons. It was possible to save Nahida from being stabbed in the Sumeru by using electro to speed up, anemo to blow attackers away, or geo to protect her, but nah. Same happened in Fontaine. Traveler could've easily saved Navia from falling by using electro to dash towards her, or anemo/geo to take her to a safe space beforehand. But it never happened so that the story could progress.

  17. Yeah, the Inazuma Archon Quest is still vomit inducing trash to this very day. Ugh… The Monstaldt and Liyue Archon Quests are valuable gems in comparison, the Sumeru Archon Quest being higher than those two.

  18. My one and only con for the Archon Quest is it's still full of pointless dialogue options (if you can even call them that) for the Travelers. I wish they just give them fully voiced lines like that part near the end where they spoke one of the past dialogue options in sequence (since it was just a sentence broken up into two options anyway).

  19. I freaking loved the 4.2 story. Some of it was predictable but Furina's voice actress hits a grand slam. I felt things (I think they're called emotions) when she delivers her lines. Might have even shed a tear. If you haven't experienced it yet, go play through 4.2 for yourself.

I think most of the community figured out Furina was some kind of fake, but the way it was executed was so good!

  20. Furina has to be one of my favorite characters not even just in genshin, but of all time after the archon quest. And that's saying something when Wanderer and Childe exist

Speaking of, there aren't enough people talking about how Childe fought the Narwhale for over a MONTH without his vision in his foul legacy form, which has been shown to drain his energy.
the motherfucker went through hell and back to help save a nation that jailed him for a crime that EVERYONE knew he didn't commit while he was on his fucking vacation. man deserves some fuken respect

  21. I wonder if HoyoVerse might design the next story arc to be rather action-packed than storytelling to follow the war-torn region's theme. Don't get me wrong. I would love to see the developers continue delivering the high-quality and well-written story.

  22. What also like is N giving us crumbs of what going on at right time, not during the judgement of furina but few minutes before so that we can sit and think about it and try figure it out ourselves to, 4.x patch is my favorite so far I wonder if we going to learn more about furina past struggle in her second story or possibly about celestia

  23. Whilst I agree, for some reason a part of me likes Sumeru’s story more. I think the whole Wanderer situation just hit different for me. A character erasing their existence so that even their arch nemesis (Dottore) doesn’t even know he exists is so badass. Wanderer is literally free to plan for as long as he wants with significant knowledge of his enemy and Dottore can do NOTHING about it (unless he personally knows a Descender who has kept him up-to-date somehow, which would be disappointing, because I wanna see Dottore say “who are you!?” as Wanderer obliterates him).

  24. Another minor detail I noticed while reading act 5 Archon Quest from beginning to the end that's so lore important to the story.

Is that we know that people who disappeared in the primordial water reverts back into an oceanid and can still harm or save in the primordial water realm of its victims shown in Vascher's death scene.

That lore plotpoint was brought back in Navia's story in the act 5 Archon quest when she fell into the primordial water and got saved by Silver Meluse during the primordial water trial (her closest assistent who protectes her from Vascher who murdered her father) who died in the primordial water flood incident in Poisson and tells Navia to let go of her dead ones and move on as the Spina de rosula president as they quickly bring her back to the mortal realm.

Little minor details like that pays it off so well in the last act from the previous acts and I love it that Fontaine keeps doing this back to back, rather being sidelining these lore relevant events to the wayside unlike previous quest except Sumreu to some extent. Same goes for the prophecy.

Fontaine's story is really that good;)

  25. i NEVER go back to watch genshin's dialogue cutscenes on youtube. i already went through it once and barely cared to pay attention half the time anyways. this update and story quest is the first time i've actually gone back to watch these scenes again, sometimes multiple times, for pleasure. idk if it's just because it's so well written, or that i love furina that much, or most likely both.
