Ayato = Average?
Dude literally the most flexible main DPS currently now and can be meta ready in most
teams and can clear everything effortlessly
Also Nahida average?? Didn't she just released last month?
I'm playing other gacha game than Genshin and I think Genshin is doing really good job about avoiding unnecessary power creep bc there're a lot of gacha games that heavily rely on it and I see their downfall when people start quitting. It makes big damage feel stale and not hype as it was and there're new playstyle to keep people interested to play. I think Genshin's style of releasing new playstyle is good and can help maintain their healthy power level. Also, introducing niche characters to elevate specific teams comp is really good to give a bit of feeling of power creep without the actual power creep. Just power creep for support from universal support to strong niche support.
I think hoyo limiting heroes too much. Not talking about raw power numbers, but as walruss said the possibilities and cellings of a hero. Hoyo went out of their way to make sure Raiden will not work with Beidou (why? Money to sell Sara) or really bad split scalling like Albedo, or Xinyan. Speaking of Albedo, his flower is more annoying, than helpful in a fight (much better, of it was working like air vent to boost your jump) and since any attack from big enemy will destroy it, it became useless vs any boss.
For me, Diluc is Genshin DPS Baseline/ Standard. If a character perform better than Diluc they're Broken. If they're lower than Diluc they're bad. And if they're just as good as Diluc they're Average/ Mid.
Ikr ayato is so perfect at being average. He almost has no clunkiness or big issues and has a lot of quality of life and flexibility

1-2 times per year, whale out on the characters you really love, and everyone wins. The only downside is spending money.
Liyue for the most part has the best characters. The only exception being Maiden and Kazuha
Hyper Investing in characters is never fun unless you like said character. Your not gonna level 90 a character high level 9 talents for someone you don't like.
They realized they can make more money making niche characters since you need to pull more to make them work.
Reminds me when Genshin players say “there’s no such thing as a bad character“. I hate this “argument” so much.
ppl who say every character work/can clear abyss expect you to have perfect artifact rolls or something which is just a bad metric.
At the end of the day, the majority of Jenshin players are casual players. They don't care about the damage as long as they are flashy and simpy. Because there is no point making a lot of huge damage especially if there is no hard content to deal with. Hoyo has low standards in terms of game mechanics, and so as the players.
metawise yes they are, gameplay & fun wise, new chars powercreep old.
Worthless numbers pale in comparison to uniqueness
Alot of people do say the characters are terrible. ALOT of people have said Cyno and Wanderer are trash. And of course they compare characters to the ridiculously OP constellations like C2 Raiden, or C6 Hu Tao. Both of those diminish the need for proper amount of crit rate or crit damage (C2 Raiden with R1 EL does more damage than other C2 hypercarries with 70/140 and 300% ER). So you dont even need 100% proper artifact builds for a hypercarry. Paying to "win more" is one thing. Paying to ignore the RNG of artifact builds is another.
The intelligent people who actually play the game instead of snorting napkin math like its copium 2.0, realize that EVERY character released to date can either be a carry or at least be a viable support for a team in Abyss. This includes Sucrose, and Heizou. There are ZERO bad characters. But there are ALOT of bad players.
I love when new characters are horrible. Makes the unbending in the old ones feel better.
Seeing Alhaitham's kit suspiciously resemble Keqing's in a lot of ways really weakens the argument that hoyo doesn't want any overlap lol Maybe they really have run out of ideas already which seems weird.
Its hilarious how those 3 characters on the thumbnail is the chars I pulled because they have the drip and the fun factor.
Ngl, they are really underwhelming as f2p. Ayato without a 5 star weapon is absolute copium. Cyno's damage can be improved by a good team buffs and comp. With tf, he can produce more damage. For Wanderer, he can still be improved because of his a1 passive, there will still be more characters in the future that will fit on his kit but right now, without c6 faruzan he is also an absolute copium.
Dont get me wrong, these 3 units are my favorite so far especially Cyni and Wanderer. I just use Hu Tao and Nilou for clearing abyss so its not a problem for me.
honestly, what does it matter if a character powercreeps when there's no competition? y'all dont complain that whales gets to rekt the game? The damage ceiling in this game isn't high enough to the point you cant run older characters bruh, even diluc can still clear the abyss and thats saying something. Point is, so what if a character is broken or powercreeping, if ur that bothered by damage then why advocate fun > meta in the first place. I'd rather new units be awesome than sub par, but ig the majority is just fine with sub par lol
Ive given up on the new characters actually…just playing for the archon quests…but the latest one wasnt impressive either
Idk character just feel worse from ayato except yelan even yoimiya is decent when everything is floating mobs wolf Lord thunder manifestation and the dps difference between hutao and yoimiya is not to big at c0 while being with less gimmicks.
They can't all be winners
IMO, hoyo designed themselves into a corner with their "2 skills per characters" gameplay. That's even less than a MOBA. I think, they should have given all characters at least 2-3 elemental skills (maybe make them share cooldown, if particle generation would be excessive) and 1 burst, to allow themselves to make more unique characters. As of now, characters do feel rather repetitive in terms of gameplay.
I think yae could do with some extra scaling on turrets
Genshin forte its not the gameplay, its not the open World game its not even the waifus/husbandos, its their World, the story might be not very well told but the World of tevyat its super well done and very interesting, you want to know that World and the characters that live in it, with the announcement that brought the dead of meta more and more people are moving from that notion and even then hoyo did right cause the meta characters were all released at the beginning and outside límited 5* like raiden, nahida, Zhongli they are very easy to get

im f2p playing 2 months….i have nahida and getting raiden …..imma try to get ayato cause he is broken with nahida kuki hyperbloom….its insane…im getting raiden first for rational comp so spiral abyss be a bit easier for me

i don't want any powercreep
it is funny that yoimiya burst is bad in genshin open world but suddenly broken in tcg card game. Now every character they make also has to make sense and be balanced in the card game.
i have enough dmg to 36 abyss everys time for like a year, now i want only fun gameplay. make mediocre characters reach their full potential, its more fun than making broken characters even more broken for nothing.
