  1. I don't think it's them trying to push away those players. I think they are just trying to establish that genshin is a one of a kind gacha game where anyone can complete the content and it's just casual fun. There aren't many gacha out there that are like that. Especially with the ability to explore the world freely.

  2. The real conspiracy is that hoyo was observing as all the players, playing the game the easy and casual way and then decided we wanted the game to be easy and casual.

  3. Honestly I always thought Hoyo WANT Genshin to fail because it is more popular/ profitable then Honkai and they just like Honkai better. That is why they are actively trying to sabortage Genshin since it is doing better then their own favorite game xD
All of the good Endgame content, like Raids or Roguelikes etc are in Honkai, the Story is told better then in Genshin (althought I personally like Genshins lore and Characters better) and Honkai has all their personal Waifus… but it is still not doing as good as Genshin… "so let's crash land Genshin" – Hoyo Executive probably

  4. If they were actively trying to drive out hardcore players, they would gradually phase out spiral abyss, phase out elemental reactions, etc. Instead, with dendro, we got very complicated reactions with hydro and electro, but no reaction at all with cryo, or geo, or anemo. It just feels incomplete. This gives more credibility to the theory that they intentionally want us in a state of dissatisfaction. They make a great combat system, then refuse to develop endgame to use it. I believe they have data that tells them that if they give us too much, people have fun for a week, then quit. If they give us too little, we quit. And they optimized for somewhere in the middle, where most people just get strung along.

  5. There are some assumptions made in the video that need to be clarified:
    1. Even though there are whales who will C6R5 weak units, far more whales will C6R5 units that are stronger. The same is true for investment by low spenders. Consider Raiden C2 and Hu Tao C1, which are some.of the highest sales banners because these units are strong. They even have a rerun value. In fact, most of the top banner sales have been strong units (so as much as people keep saying waifu over meta, meta always points to higher banner sales).
    2. Because of the above, there is a higher percentage of players who want their units to be strong AND look good (basically waifus), than those who are just meta or.just aesthetics.
    3. Spending allocation is not something that Hoyoverse wants, they want to make money on every banner they can. They failed with Cyno and especially Nilou, because those 2 units are not the best in their niche.

  6. 6:30 then wtf are doing when they are logged in? just running around picking freaking flowers? is this really the best engine for flower picking? There's not even a pickling animation.. Ya know, ya don't want to believe that the IRL NPC is real, the implications are terrifying, but… i mean, what other explanation is there?

  7. The one I keep hearing is they more want the player base to play their other titles to better monetize players such that they don’t want players to burn out on one game and leave before getting into the other titles. Makes some sense, but seems like it would just as likely lead to players burning out altogether on hoyoverse…

  8. Hoyo did make a special server for certain content creators to give an early pre-release analysis though didn’t they? I feel like that was them using theory crafters as free promo for new characters

  9. What I believe is happening is that Hoyoverse doesn't want too many theorycrafters, not that they want to get rid of the current ones necessarily (although they likely don't care too much if they lose a few)

After all, whether you want it or not, theorycrafters and the discussions that arise from these theories is what drives the buzz around characters and, regardless of what's being said, it's marketing, the character is being promoted and will likely generate more sales than they would otherwise

Not to mention that it potentially forces the hand of supporters of said character to spend a bit more on them as a way to "show those dang theorycrafters who say my precious baby is trash!"

  10. Don't see why they would purposely turn away a money source, but they do want to keep casual players in what was designed as a relatively casual game. Meanwhile, they also have HI and ZZZ that cater more toward that audience. The notion that they are intentionally trying to get rid of these people is them making the game about themselves… like, "we're so important that this company is victimizing us and trying to get rid of us" rather than the game merely not being what they want, which we see is the most important thing in the world.

Theorycrafting also made me more invested in the game, even if I don't practice it.

  11. This is the first time I've heard of this "conspiracy theory". It just feels to me that these people are trying so hard to validate their own opinions by coming up with all sorts of random dook dook they can think so.

  12. This is not a conspiracy, this has been Mihoyo’s moto from the beggining, and we have been calling it out since then. Mihoyo wants the real players gone, so the game would be filled with children, casuals, normies, and all type of vulnerable people, because they are easy to scam, they pay for whatever, because they don’t understand the game, they lack experience, knowledge and criteria.

  13. I think the conspiracy theory comes from the fact that characters like Yoimiya, Kokomi, Nilou, and even Kazuha, where deemed either unfitting for the current meta or unnecessary if you already have x or y, or they where simply called mid characters by theory crafters and then when they were released, their sales ended up among the lowest despite the fact that Nilou,. Kokomi and Yoimiya are waifu characters and in theory because of the fact that most of the community is casual waifu>meta should have happened but it didn't.

But I think the flaw in that theory is that the placement of the banners also plays a role, but then you have Kazuha selling more than Yoimiya on his rerun, but even there you could argue that most casual players don't like Yoimiya or bow characters in general because they play on mobile. In the end, I think there's a low likelihood that the conspiracy theory is real but who knows.

  14. Dude, I love your approach to discussing Genshin. You always manage to criticize Hoyo while still not painting a monster out of them. You don't do hype driven content, yet you need to make videos about the new characters and play with slightly clickbait titles, because it's part of the youtube game. Keep going, I've been watching all of your videos for weeks now.

  15. with peace and love, this is how it dosnt make sense overall. 1- a lot of us are mostly pull for charcrters we love, not if they are strong or meta. waifu's husbandos. ones we just love
2- theory crafters can craft all day long but they a lot of time, mistaken. kazuha was one of the least selling charcter on his first run and though he's mid. now he's sss tier . kokomi as well everyone said she's the worst 5 star , look at her now, one of the most used in abyss. so no, it dosnt metter what everyone will say, we will pull for who we want

  16. It's funny that you think mihoyo wants to get rid of TC because TC had a much better opinion in nilou then most youtubers. At this point I think mihoyo is trying to get rid of everyone who isn't bought by them. Content creator who don't talk positiv about genshin, they want to see them gone

  17. Combat is already a big part of the game. What if there was an optional way to increase world level past level 8 without an increase in rewards. Then bosses, bounties, etc. could be a challenging fight for the people who want it.

  18. I believe that Hoyoverse is simply following what they intended their game to be and hardcore players leaving isn’t intentional but a side effect.

Like Walruss said theory crafter enjoy calculating numbers and minmaxing characters. Without endgame content, so will leave some will stay. It’s just a matter of motivations.

Hoyoverse not wanting to invest in more combat endgame doesn’t mean they want hardcore players to quit. Ideally they don’t want anyone to quit, it’s just that in the same way a player can’t level up and build every character because of the lack of ressources, Hoyoverse cannot cater to every players as they are also limited in ressources, so they focus on what’s more profitable at the moment.

  19. Off topic. Genshin Impact has turned into a MEDIOCRE game with all of these mini games and story events everyweek. At this point they are just trying to please everyone and do a little bit of everything.

  20. Normally things labeled as conspiracy are labeled this way because its a truth that scares folks.
You can answer this theory for yourself based on what they are actually doing rather then saying.

Crafters have value for both casuals and mets lovers. Someone who values waifus over meta can go to these crafters in hopes of making their favorite waifu the best she can be.

The problem seems to stem on viewers who like to use this type of content to cast stones at players for using characters they dont like.

From personal experience stones have been cast at myself for maining eula/yae. Being told such things like..they are trash, other characters can do more dmg with less work etc. I ultimately ignored them and did what i wanted but i cant deny the doubt i got and if i listened i would of missed out on my two favorite characters. How many others gave into doubt and ended up missing their favorite character for one they dont care about?

It may not seem like crafters get a ton of views but word travels fast and those who dont follow people at all are probably talking to people who do watch crafter content. It takes 1 person to tell 1 person and then the chain starts.

As valuable as said content is; it also tends to shrink the character roster. Devs need to be held accountable aswell because what is the point of pulling new characters if previous characters can do the same and better. There isnt one unless you just like a character, then at that point just release them as skins like tof seems to be doing.

  21. Some people seem to forget that a company doesn’t press a button to reach a certain goal they set but has to allocate resources towards it and monitor its progress. It doesn’t make any sense for a profit oriented company to work against content creators that barely influence a fraction of the playerbase

  22. From a corporate perspective, it’s just about risk and benefit ratio.
I partially agree with you, I wouldn’t be so drastic. But on the other hand, sounds more like a business plan than a conspiracy to me.
Meta will be less and less relevant, because probably you’re right when you say “we are the 5%” (overestimating); but that 5% speaks louder.

Theorycrafters and content creators are also influencers. I can be a recently acquired casual player, not into meta, not spending money, but Genshin visibility goes through content creators, so it’s pretty realistic that Hoyoverse wants to control or limit this influence somehow. I see thumbnails on YouTube, suggested videos with leaks.
A way to control this flow of information is to make it less valuable.

  23. At first I thought that the controversy will be about the TCG is just another merch promotion. But after watching the video, in my opinion the theory is far fetched but at the same time it will not surprise me if it actually happened because the devs consist of multiple people and they have their personal way to think about the game and as for the other reason well this is kind of rude but well I'll say it, the dumber the costumer gets more money they gain and they can put less effort in putting something worthwhile since the game will live for several years. Ways to improve the way has been thought for so long by the devs, in order not to give basic QOL the players wanted right away just put it in anniversary so that way it can be seen as marketing strategy, it is genius while it serves as practical way to improve the game it can also appease the player. Just take a look at the anime announcement if it were not announced on the 2nd anniversary the review on the playstore would have been 2-3 * back then 😂 it is genius

  24. I didn't watch the whole video so maybe I'm missing something, But I can't imagine thats the case. If you look at the CN community for this game, a large amount of them are alot more "sweaty" than other communities and they also tend to spend more. Basically, their core audience has alot of TC influence.

I also think that any "bad" TC's could do for hoyo's sales, wouldn't outweigh the good because it's only thanks to TC's that we know the strength of Raiden and her C2 or why Hu Tao is so strong thus encouraging more people to pull. Furthermore, I think that even if one banner sales are low, that will just bump up the sales on the next valuable banner

  25. This is a great talk my man.

As a 6-year mihoyo fanboy, I've seen the dirty "endgame" that players are yearning for.

If you wish to see what happened, just go to their previous game: Honkai Impact. Its literally ENDGAME imact where Mihoyo plucks their brains out to literally keep their players in because of literal anxiety.

We have tons of optimizations and tons of items being killed, free characters that were once meta just because they are powercrept, and high budget animations just like what people want. There are already at least 4 endgames like the abyss (Superstring Dimension, Memorial Arena, Elysian Realm, Blockade, etc.) and its so much that I literally just go to my Serenitea pot to relax. Its a really stressful arena that you HAVE to get the best characters to get a 1 millisecond faster run.

But I really love the theorycrafting community. I WISH we had more of those in Honkai and I am sure Genshin HAD the space to have these interesting theorycrafters BECAUSE of Genshin's interesting reaction-based combat. I am not worrying about them getting rid of KeqingMains anytime soon.

Love these videos btw. Keep it up.

  27. I don't think the trying to drive away anyone much. If anything could be just a game with china anti-addiction laws, so they won't be in the hot seat. If they think the TC and leaks are hurting them then they need to think again. If they think it went overboard they can have ways to control it. Without them the community and hype is dead. Who want to see and watch things that they already know. What I think they try to do is build a more fan base type of game, with arts, ads, and collab events. I see things on the players side one end being fan and copium ( casual) and the other end hardcore ( logical). I see more of the copium type of people in today's world than those who is logical and can think for themselves, as many political and world issue arise we can see the division, amongst the very people around us. For me, I fall more on the logical side and hoping and thinking people or more on that side, but I know is not. They would not pull for anything more than they need if any. There is nothing you can do with all the characters and build, basically just a waste of time and money. F2p/casual/ low spender would probably only pull one or two copies of the thing they want, especially when they don't care to be strong and knowing, there no content for them to be strong for. So, in the logical sense the whole game don't make sense. I get it I, it is a game don't need to get too serious or logical, but still I don't think there is a reason to spend more, then necessary. I stop spending my monthly passes and buy primos gems. Now, I just killing time with the game. If they think leaks are hurting them, they could do many to counter. Proof them wrong on release, making close beta more strict. But, if they think majority is not the hardcore than leaks should matter much. The more logical wise spender would watch leaks with a grain of salt and just wait for the release to see it for themselves or others feedback. I think the real thing they should do is make the characters more balanced then the powercreep and leaks would render useless. Anyways, here we are again talking about anything but the real game content as there isn't much to talk about. I think not so much end game, but some meaningful coop and reason for people to build character would go a long way for all players and the company.

  28. I've realised that Hoyoverse has made more updates of the Serenity Tea Pot (or any other casual content) compared to the changes Abyss have experienced so far.
My theory is that the company may have seen the limits of Honkai Impact 3rd business model : a gacha game based on a hardcore end game content requires constant updates that caters players that uses stronger characters.
There's a reason why I've seen guides that demonstrated how expensive it can be to keep up with Honkai's content, especially for low spenders and free to plays. This con of Honkai puts a barrier of entry, which makes it very difficult for new players to get into (unless you are aware of what you're doing with your account).

On the other hand, Genshin's barrier of entry is so low that a wider audience can get into it and appreciate at least 1 aspect of it's game (ex : characters, music, environment, combat, etc).
I might be biased but I haven't seen franchises that could get so much promotion in malls, on social media or on conventions since Pokemon.
I wouldn't be surprised if Hoyoverse publishes a "Genshin 2" to push the success further (if the franchise manages to keep it's impact in the history of video games/gacha games).

  29. You raise a good point. Think about how many more people would’ve got Shenhe if it wasn’t for everyone saying she’s too niche. They lose out on sales. I think it’s possible that they are.

  30. Literally 2 minutes in and this theory is already nonsense. Why? Hoyoverse can very easily go after leaks if they wanted to. It's not like any of this stuff is hidden. Same websites, same subreddit, same people on Twitter, same discord, etc etc. It would be extremely easy for Hoyo to take down all of these sources of leaks but they don't. They allow leaks to flow freely for the most part and only intervene when the leaks go too far. It's also likely a lot of these people have dealings with Hoyo directly because leaking a new product is a very safe way of gauging how well it will do before it's even out all while leaving the company the ability to deny the leaks were ever true. Use your heads, people.

  31. Well, in a sense that is a good thing. The 'hardcore' gamers try to dictate what other people should do to the point that they literally harass/cyberbully anyone who does otherwise. In most gacha games, American and CN/JP tier lists are often drastically different but American streamers get more reach primarily due to the accessible language so more people believe their opinions as gospel. The problem with a lot of 'hardcore' gamers is they're speaking in absolutes. Like the case with yoimiya, the genshin community would go out of their way to make us feel bad for enjoying her. Weak or broken, let people enjoy things. Let's not forget that a lot of big genshin youtubers truly believe "subscribers" = "i'm right".
