i like your setting the tone of the video from the first few seconds, good
Revisiting this song once we get the context sounds like a fun idea.
I'm not really a music expert or anything but all I know is that this is probably one of the greatest pieces of music I've ever heard that's associated with a game, infact I got extremely close to tearing up the first time I listened to it just from pure adrenaline
Been waiting for this
That's an interesting opinion about how game music needs no definite interpretation. If everyone can be right about how they interpret the music, then the value of the question "what is your interpretation of the music" doesn't exist in the first place. The thing is, every piece of art created for games are always restricted by some sort of narrative. If you are a character designer, you can't simply create a character that is beyond the scope of the narrative that was provided to you. This is the same with video game composers, especially for the storytelling heavy ones. The hardest part about creating art for video games is that there is always a set narrative, and that's where skill and professionality becomes an integral aspect of what makes a game able to express the correct story to the players. If players interpret a design of a character who is supposedly a doctor, as a chef, wouldn't that be a problem?
I think that everyone's interpretation on a piece of video game art is valuable, but not everyone can be right.
ufff soy latino y realmente me agrada tu contenido, no sabes como esperaba para que reacciones al tema sinfónico de Natlan
I would say that the best in-game use of photon of fluctuation is the card game. It fits the vibe there so well. You're right there's no sense of danger. Honestly, I think it fits the 3-5 hilichurl fights from Mondstat, but you are right that it doesn't feel like it fits the danger of each new region. I think I like this one so much primarily because it downplays the photon of fluctuation influence.
Sir, I agree with you. "What matters if the feelings". I might not someone from musical industry but, music still an art. As visual art, what matters is feeling. What we feel when we interected with the art in question, that's what make an art.. an art
I've been checking on your channel and X account daily in case I missed anything 😂 Thank you always for giving your insight on Genshin music!
Completely agree with how you describe the motif, i sense a feel of hardship but also a connection with nature and a simple/humble life, is a call to accept that life is hard but worth to fight for, and in a more bigger scale, to defend our humble home against something big, but strength is not on numbers but on the determination and love for the homeland.
Is like the concept of war in the most noble way possible.
3:30 Reforged is the word
the beginning reminds me of the Mexican National Anthem:
Mexicans, at the cry of war, assemble the steel and the bridle, and the Earth trembles to its core to the resounding roar of the cannon.
Encircle Oh Fatherland!, your temples with olives the divine archangel of Peace, for in heaven your eternal destiny was written by the finger of God. If, however, a foreign enemy would dare to profane Your ground with their sole, think, Oh beloved Fatherland!, that Heaven has given a soldier in every son….. O, Fatherland, if however your children, defenseless With their necks bent beneath the yoke, May your fields be watered with blood….
GREAT. Ever since I first heard this, I was dying to see you cover it.
I've always felt that when Hoyo-mix make music that their primarily Asian and secondary Western European and adjacent audiences aren't familiar with, that's when they pop off so hard.
Sumeru and Natlan are currently my absolute favourites, not just because they're 100% amazing gorgeous melodic motific and beautiful, but also because prior to them I had never been acquainted with Arabic themed music or tribal Swahili songs at all. And I gotta say – I'm liking what I'm hearing. And that's an added layer of excitement to me.
Without getting to into leaks and spoilers and what-not – the other battle tracks are absolute bops too and I love them all! We already heard the didgeridoo part of one of them in a previous teaser, I really like what they do with the rest of that track.
i was dying to see your reactions!
Hey, will you do the sea of bygones era?
aw I was really looking foward to the reaction, oh well
I loved the Cuatro, haven't heard that instrument in a while ❤
After hearing it almost every day for the last 4 years, the photon of fluctuation motif, no matter what it’s in, without fail puts a smile on my face. To me, it feels like our own/traveler’s theme, something that has grown with us every region over the past few years. Hearing the vocals behind it in this performance was so unimaginably good. Fontaine is my second favorite nation musically so I’m looking really forward to what the new Hoyo-Mix team has in store for us in Natlan!
when you stop in @2:16 in the Natlan Symphony video (around 8:58 of this breakdown video), to me that last motif actually sounds a little sad or melancholic (and I love it). I guess we'll find out eventually but with how moving the last two Archon Quests were, I'm a little scared how emotional this one is going to be considering how powerful the music already is with no context other than "part of the pyro region ost"
Let's pretend I haven't been refreshing your YouTube profile every now and then to see if you'd upload a reaction video to this wonder. I haven't been moved to tears by a soundtrack since Sumeru… it was truly amazing…❤❤❤
Might be my over-interpretation but I found it fascinating how the same <repeating same melodies with different instruments> thing was handled differently here vs back in Sumeru.
In Sumeru we start a relatively exotic (sorry for the wording) melody performed with traditional western instrumentation first, and once familiarity with the melody is established, the same repeated with folk instrumentation, and once that becomes familiar, the "real" performance bursts open with that full, intense Sumeru flavour. It's like a guide gently leading the guest, taking small steps at a time to avoid any sudden shock, eventually reaching a completely new place but the unfamiliarity provokes intrigue not wariness.
Here in Natlan 19:10, the folk instrumentation goes first, western instrumentation then follows. It feels like a demonstration. When the flute performs, all else becomes quiet, like the world is observing. Once you're shown how it's done, you try to do it while maintaining your own identity. The folk instrumentation this time feels much more confident. Unlike in Sumeru, Natlan is bold, and you are humble. And ofc, once the trumpet/French horn showed they've learnt what was taught, the chanting begins, as if you've just been accepted.
As a South American: esto es demasiado El Rey León, demasiado Africano y llevo años viviendo en Centroamérica así que la música realmente no calza ni se le siente lo latino, lo América.
Too Afritlan, barely Natlan.
Edit: don't get me wrong, the music sounds epic but them mixing two and a half continents together isn't really adding up. Pretty sure most people in latam expected more America and Mavuika looking like out of Onyx Equinox instead of Britney Spears from her Toxic song.
I was waiting for this
I was waiting for this ever since they dropped the Livestream 😅 I kept checking your yt channel for your take on this
wait, like 3 minutes in and Marco is already spoiling the story of a patch that hasn't even dropped just by analyzing the music, damn smart people lol (also keep up the great work, I really enjoy learning from this, you teach a lot of things in this video, including what it takes to enjoy and appreciate more the music… although I cannot sleep listening to music anymore because now I pay to much attention to it…)
The Hoyo-mix team creates some of the best music i've ever heard in a video game! The music in this game is so diverse, and it connects perfectly with the region it's related to! I love watching your analysis videos for Genshin music. Have a nice day 😃
