[5.1] Phlogiston and the Abyss – A Genshin Impact Theory

It’s amazing how one off-handed comment from a dying seelie can tell us SO MUCH about the true nature of elemental energy and what lurks within the abyss itself.

Spoilers: The truth is a bit stranger than fiction. Probably.

  1. *NOTES & CORRECTIONS*

    – It's been brought to my attention that at about 11:30 I said something in a confusing way. The line was "[…]the creator of the seelies – at least the lord of the night and her friends -[…]". Some people understood this as me saying the lord of the night WAS the creator of the seelies which is not correct. I was specifically referring to the creator OF the seelies SUCH AS the lord of the night and her friends. My apologies for the confusing wording there.

    – I COMPLETELY FORGOT there's a stigmata for Yog-Sothoth in Houkai Gakuen 2. And not only does it support like, half of this theory, but it also talks about the world being made of words (last video I made) and that could have saved me so much time if I just remembered it existed. (Aru Hiseki literally released a video on this like TEN MINUTES after this finished premiering. I put a link in the description which you should check out for more on the outer gods.)

  2. @Ashikai, why are you saying the Primordial Sea is from the Abyss when a being from the Light Realm is its Heart and Egeria was a substitute Heart too?

In the first case, the Light Realm is the opposite of the Abyss, and in the second, why would the Heavenly Principles allow a power from the Abyss in Teyvat just like that?

Also, since the Abyss is opposite to the Light Realm and the elements originate from the latter, I am not sure why the Void Realm would have Electro-like Energy.

  3. Why is nobody discussing that the hole in the sky has the same red glitchy energy and appearance that Arlecchino has? That was the first thng I noticed, and I haven't seen anyone else point that out.

  4. Also to mention! The “Parametric Transformer” actually confirms that memories and elements flow in the leylines together! “Memories and elements surge within the leylines…” is in its description..

  5. Wait if the primordial one and seelies are also draconian, then why would they kill dragon sovereigns, so it’s a civil war now? If everyone was a dragon to begin with, why were they killing each other?

  6. The primordial sea being a sea of consciousness reminded me that when using ele sight during everything with Vacher, the primordial seawater you come across is pitch black. That helps explain what was going on with it

  7. Something that has perplexed me is that Natlan had “condessence crystal” as its main ore type. But after this video I’m like could it be that the reddish light in it is phlogiston, and the blue is primordial sea water? It already bordered me before Natlan that it has orange in it too. Afther some research It’s in game archive description also talks about it “giving humanity the authority to forge wondrous objects” and being “bestowed by envoys of the heavens”. which makes it more suspicious is that it talks about moons too. Just wanted to share by brain rot 🙂

  8. I think the only thing I dont understand in this theory is why pyro or phlogiston or elemental energy does not need the geo 'projector' while electro or abyss or thought needs hydro. We dont see any blantent ties to geo within the imaginary tree, or a major area related to geo, unless you count the chasm. I feel like that part of the explaination left me wanting more to chew on.

Cryo is also unspoken of in this theory, which is confusing.

Now, Im more of a casual lore nerd and maybe its just my lack of in game book and text comprehension failing me.

  9. Random theory: Perhaps Teyvat is stuck in the present. Now throughout Teyvat, civilisations have strived for progress and the future ( Khaneriah, the original civilisation, Remuria). But every-time they get to certain points in their progress the civilisation is destroyed. We know this is caused by the heavenly principles.

Perhaps this also relates to the moons. Notice the 3 moon sisters being related to the Moirai. What if the moon we have left is the Moirai of the present? ( using the Hecate as a reference due to its order of moon cycles and real world example). Perhaps the reason this is because the HP ( heaven principles) is broken. It’s like how a computer with corrupted programming stops working properly. So maybe the moon sisters acted as a manager for the HP and now that past and future are gone, they can only consider the now.

Also, Raiden Ei said eternity is closest to the HP maybe this is what she meant. Teyvat is stuck in a static state due to the removal of two of its key components.
