[3.5] Losing my mind over the Primordial One – Genshin Impact Lore/Theory

Something’s never really sat quite right with me in regards to the Primordial One… “MAY” have been Phanes? Why is there room for doubt?!

Well, in this video let’s dig a little deeper and maybe we can answer that infamous question – Who exactly IS the Primordial One? Is it Phanes? Or someone else?

  1. This theory makes a lot of sense, but one thing that doesn't make sense to my pint-sized brain is that if the heavens' power, ie, Celestia's power is blue, then why the heck are Dain and the Abyss twin wielding it?! Dain's from Khaenri'ah, the land destroyed by the heavens (unless it was given to him as a 'gift' or the equivalent of a vision by Celestia), and the Abyss sibling is literally the leader of an organization trying to destroy the heavens!

  2. I know there are many comments but did anyone else see the symbol of Murana and the one seen in the Triler for version 3.6 in the story teaser for Echoes of the Heart in the time 1:30 ?

  3. I think I got the name for the primordial one.
The name is Adam Kadmon/ Gabra Ḳadmaya (primordial man)
Thank you for giving nyx acknowledgement.
I don't know but I think nyx and barbelo may link.

  4. Hi Ashikai,
Just a small addition. Regarding the primordial deity, it is said that the first to appear and who was born from chaos itself is Erebus, and Nyx appeared after.
Compared to Genshin, we can conclude that Erebus is the first primordial god, and the other four can also be compared to those of our mythology, who are: Nyx, Gaia, Eros and Tartarus.

  5. Look at this one taking this "may" and turning it into an entire video and in the meanwhile i'm more concerned about the realization that in Caribert's quest, the young boy removed his mask and saw himself while in the hut, but no big explosions or anything dramatic happened (other than a broken mirror). Then outside he removes his mask under the rain and Kleeboom!
What does this imply? That hilichurls hate washing themselves O_O

  6. Hi Ashikai, I was wondering if you have looked at one of Honkai Impact's characters Griseo's paintings. One of them fits very suspiciously if not perfectly of the Phanes description of Wings, Horned mask (not Crown) but still and is holding a cracked egg (the figure also has a halo). So I was wondering what you make of it

  7. we don’t hear anything abt the primordial one when in teyvat. makes me think it was deleted from irmunsul. i mean enkanomiya is not teyvat so irminsul couldn’t reach it, right?

  8. Abyss herald and lectors are from the Abyss and predate khaenriha. They are not human but like skirk they are from the Abyss. That is why child's foul legacy looks like a herald and not a lector who wield a catalyst weapon as suppose to herald who wield a melee weapon. I think the herald and lector are from a race in Abyss that are like the dragon race who lived a light realm and I think before sun and moon those two realms coexistence was a battle over power and balance like jing and jang. Then came the decend3r or second who came or primordial one and forced the human realm in between them. Something like that.

  9. 0:57 I think we've been given a hint about original god (or the god of time) when we go on the mission at mondstad where there are ruins and we transferred to a isle? (1.1? 1.2?)

  10. you know the items we get after each archon quest? dvalin's poisoned thingy from mondstadt, the rock from liyue, signoras funeral mask from inazuma, and the silver twig from sumeru. i have a feeling we will get one of these items for every region, 7 (or possibly 8?) in total, and they will be the keys to the final archon quest.

  11. Crack theory: could the twins jointly be the Primordial One? He/they're described as androgynous, so perhaps he was split into masculine and feminine halves, perhaps during the fight with the Second Who Came? We know the goal of the game is to be reunited with our sibling – what if it's to LITERALLY be reunited? The twins certainly seem more connected than typical twins are, given that they've experienced each other's memories twice now. Besides, the Primordial One has been shown to be capable of dividing/copying himself with the creation of the shades.

As for how this would work with the timeline, if the split did indeed occur as a cost of the Primordial One's victory over the Second Who Came, perhaps the twins were sent careening into space with a loss of memory and power. They'd then revert to what the Primordial One was presumably doing prior to arrive to Teyvat – flitting from world to world. The fact that the twins are eventually summoned back to Teyvat by Khaenri'ah, among other things, indicates that they were originally from there.

As for why the Abyss Twin is considered to be a part of Teyvat while our twin isn't – could the Abyss Twin have recovered part of their memories, but have that knowledge distorted by the Abyss so as to make them think they were always native to Teyvat (specifically to Khaenri'ah)? This could be what is shown in the Battle Pass cutscene. If the Abyss Twin truly "remembers" this, then perhaps they would show up in Irminsul as a Teyvat native, while our twin does not.

Also – Genshin literally means "Primordial God". So there's that too!

  12. nyx/night then could be abyss pertaining to black goo (the disease, the cursed knowledge deshret civilization has tapped into) and abyss is actually the "tevyat" because the original dragon inhabitants are persecuted by light., the current tevyat we know might have been a creation of phanes/primordial shade with celestia in accordance to theory, and abyss (staircase prompt) is the actual tevyat, in which the sibling knows after a while and join their side., and thats why the irminsul recognized him as a citizen of tevyat rather than being an alien.

khaenriah was axed in from learning the truth., and hence the citizens know., The travelers body put into asleep only to be awakened in tevyat celestia created like a simulation tevyat.

  14. In the Age of Ancients, the world was unformed, shrouded by fog. A land of gray crags, Archtrees and Everlasting Dragons.
But then there was fire, and with fire came disparity. Heat and cold, life and death, and of course, light and dark.
Then from the dark, they came, and found the Souls of Lords within the flame.
Nito, the first of the dead,
the Witch of Izalith, and her Daughters of Chaos,
Gwyn, the Lord of Sunlight, and his faithful knights,
and the furtive pygmy, so easily forgotten.

"With the Strength of Lords, they challenged the Dragons.
Gwyn's mighty bolts peeled apart their stone scales.
    The Witches weaved great firestorms.
Nito unleashed a miasma of death and disease.
And Seath the Scaleless betrayed his own, and the Dragons were no more.

Thus began the Age of Fire. But soon, the flames will fade, and only Dark will remain.
Even now, there are only embers, and man sees not light, but only endless nights.

  15. In the gnostic hymn cut scene the snake appears white and as it’s forming it rapidly takes on the black color with the purplish glow and red eyes. Maybe it was king irmin/deshret who was pure (hence the initial white color) then corrupted by forbidden knowledge which seems to be the only real representation of the color black. And the purple color does happen to be the same color of the crystal and deshret when he was sealed

  16. 9:51 wait i thought the primordial one was born, then fought the dragons and then made 4 shades of itself to create human life? do you mean to say that they did all that before hatching from the egg? 😭 im so confused

  17. I find something very interesting. In Nahida's second story quest Apep (the dendro dragon and one of the seven dragon kings) says something like "the life that is so precious to the Heavenly Principles". This exact words made me think the Primordial One and the Heavenly Principles are the same. The Heavenly Principles are in my opinion a reference to Ananke – the mother of Phanes and the Goddess of fate / the inevitability.

  18. I KNOOOOW everyone kinda gets mad at honkai related theories but I just love that game and
UGH I GOTTA tell you about Griseo and my theory about her (it’s a bit coocoo but hear me out).

In Honkai Impact the story takes place in the “Current Era” which is basically an AU of our society on earth.
But 50.000 years before this era, a “previous era” of humanity (way more technologically advanced) was fighting a losing war against the Honkai.
They had a small group of immortal genetically modified super-soldiers who were responsible for carrying out different plans to save the human race. One of them was Griseo, a small child who liked to draw. She had undergone the immortality operation to save her life and had stopped aging since (also mentally). When it was clear that Humanity stood no chance against the Honkai she volunteered to be the enforcer of “project ember”. This meant that she would leave earth in a spaceship with tons of frozen embryos on board to venture out into space and find a new planet for humanity to live.

Now. Her “superpower” was being able to soak up emotions and personalities like a sponge and manifesting them into a drawing. These drawings were able to completely emotionally manipulate anyone who looked at them. It is heavily implied in her story that her powers would only grow over time. Maybe even get a point where she would be able to bring these paintings to life.
(Her 50.000 year old digital avatar managed to develop that skill too).

Speaking of her avatar. In the program that she runs in, she is represented by a personalized signet. The signet of stars. She is often seen painting starry night skies and her design has stars all over it. There’s also Kosma who treats her like a brother and basically raises her, who has the Signet of DAYBREAK.

I KNOW ITS CRAZY but what if Griseo is the primordial one.
After thousands of years little Griseo’s powers have developed. She is lonely. She was an orphan before but for all she knows, everyone she once knew and loved is dead. So our little Star-Griseo paints herself a friend. Someone like her big brother Daybreak-Kosma maybe? When they find teyvat (or the bubble universe it’s in) they decide to stop. They get out of their spaceship (break out of their egg) and that’s where Before Sun and Moon begins.

If you’re still reading: i know it’s crazy but I love Griseo and I love this theory 😅😂

  19. Can teyvat be hell?

You probably know that the things related to the abyss are always upside down like the sinner, the venti statue and so on.
Heck even the clock you use every day for some quest is upside down as 00:00 is upside down.
But if the abyss is deep in the underground isn't the ermansoul (sorry) tree also deep in the underground but in a different space time. Even the sky looks identical.

The wanderer also said the skies of teyvat were fake.
The gods of teyvat are also named as devils.

In the Bible God removed the garden of Edin from the face of the earth because of man kind making a deal with the devil.
And we (travelers)are always friends with the archons.

So what if the abyss here is heaven trying to set things right in"hell".

    Teyvat being the overworld.

And things governing tayvat are the demons.

Weird theory but it kinda makes sense.😅

  21. If Phanes is not primordial one but sun shade that would make him perfect candidate for The Sinner from Caribert quest. It wrote somewhere that sun chariot fell into chasm, also with King Deshret visual story there is crystal (that looks like the sinner) that looks like it fell into Teyvat and made chasm-like shape. And in Gnosticism Phanes didn't obey (didn't break the egg – so sinner?)

  22. I've come to a realization well I sadly lost my decade old minecraft world, I swear i have my reasons but I decided to check an old back up and it was similar to the one I was using but it's world generation, was different to the one I was using, then I wanted to see if I input the same seed would it look different in a current version of minecraft, and it was vastly different.

Well that's when I thought what happens if Teyvat is making new saves every time irmunsul is updated so it can generate a new world but some of the old data stays and wants to say, overlap with current data, but irmunsul takes that as a threat so it tries a deletion of that data well making a backup to replace the current one but it technically doesn't work as it's already overlap thus changing the whole world generation?

Yes it's weird and yes I'm doing this as a coping mechanism cause the one time I don't backup my world it's gone

  23. I think it’s really interesting that the unified civilisation is based off Ancient Greece (a place that was only unified for a really short amount of time due to Alex the not so cool) and they (the Greeks that is) had the belief that the gods were the children of other entities that essentially worked in very similar ways. Since in genshin there’s a few points of saying that it’s before gods walked teyvat, I wonder if the shades and any other entities like that could be seen as titans instead. Maybe that’s why the seelies weren’t really seen as gods but the goddess of flowers was treated as one.

Bit jumbled, sorry about that. I also have a theory that celestia is based off Rome due to etymology and the dragons are potentially also Nordic origin and may have been some sort of inspiration for Khaenri’ah (the last parts due to Nahidas story quest)
