Why Sumeru Could Have the Most Compelling Story Yet (Genshin Impact Theory)

In this video I explain a bit of a theory suggesting that Lessor Lord Kusanali is not the Dendro Archon, and exploring what story implications that might have!

  1. Asuming that kusanali isn't the real Dendro Archon what if the real Dendro Archon is actually using her as a standin for him
What if we're looking at someone like Baizhu for profile of the Dendro Archon who is even tho from Sumeru hardly goes there what if the actual Dendro Archon is just running around the world possible doing his own thing and that's why doesn't make any argument against injustice in Sumeru ( not to be rude) coz he doesn't give damn about it
It is possible since he's the youngest and this inexperienced in the ways of anllthe Archon

  2. I hope they take inspiration from only one countrie's culture from the middle east and not murge more than 8 countries and cultures together…i believe they know what they're doing

  3. I also kinda want this quest to further make us question our unwavering trust of the archons. So far, the only one who has done so is Ei, but in the end we're still friends with her.

Perhaps they'll even reveal some lore about Venti that makes him seem menacing. So far we've heard stories about Morax's countess murders, we've witnessed Ei's tyranny, I want Venti to have some archon lore too.

  4. I'm honestly looking forward to what they'll do with Sumeru, both with the environment for exploration and the hints to myth and history within the story/characters
I'm from the middle east myself and lived here all my life, and I'm curious to see how it'll all turn out, when I saw that the dendro archon is the archon of wisdom of all things
And seeing references to deserts and ancient Egypt
Seems like sumeru will be alot larger and will have multiple climates since it will contain both a desert and a jungle which sounds exciting
Also the archon being a lord that values wisdom immediately reminded me of the history of the Arabian nation Andalusia which was the capital of knowledge, arts and education of the time due to its vast libraries and great discoveries

  5. Here is my slime theory.
Anemo slimes can create wind – like Venti
Geo slimes have geo shield – like Zhongli
Electro slimes have two forms (yellow and violet forms) – like Baal and Ei
Dendro slimes hide themselves under their flowers – maybe the real dendro archon hides himself under flower aka Lessor Lord Kusanali

  6. Who knows, i may be alone in this. But since sumeru is a region based on the middle east i hope we will get more dark skinned characters, even if it's just NPCs. Right now we only have kaeya (husband supreme), and xinyan (best girl that mihoyo forgot existed)

  7. Here was what I got out of my own speculations and before I watched the video:

    1. Kusanali is who the common people WANT to be their ruler/archon, so is regarded much higher than the actual Dendro Archon. The true Dendro Archon is disliked by their citizens and there is an internal struggle with power between the Archon and Kusanali. They DID say something about knowledge being their downfall and [Dainsleif said] something about how foolish the Dendro Archon was. The Archon is also the youngest, Kusanali is said to be diety so she may have been politically involved with Sumeru for much much longer, having much more support from the people. Kusanali could also be directly related to the former archon

    2. Kusanali is known as a "lesser lord" which is a vassal of some sort. She could possibly be a stand-in for the true archon who could have probably gone MIA (doubtful though, because this probably would've been known as public knowledge). Edit: Did some more research and decided to borrow off of someone's theory about the slimes representing the archons. The Dendro Archon may not be MIA, but instead hiding (Similar to how the dendro slime hides under the ground unless forced out with pyro).

2a. (I didn't know where to put this as) The Sabzeruz Festival celebrates the "Flower God"'s birthday, but the Archon is referred to as the "Grass God". This means that they are 70% chance two different people. It seems like this festival was a long-standing tradition…

Extra: Regarding Archon's gender, I still think that it is up for interpretation (which is why I'm using they/them pronouns to refer to them). Yes, Ganyu's voice line translation went from he to her, but if memory serves me correctly, they are referred to as neutral in JP and CN (the original language). Their gender is not set in stone. I really hope it is a male archon to even out the ratio of male to female archons, but if not I hope they are well written and are lore-packed like Zhongli. I don't want a date with the god of KNOWLEDGE, but more info about the lore…

  8. In the dendro elemental stone (idk what to call them) it says something about being a spokesperson for plants, which is something the god of woods would say rather than the god of wisdom, maybe Kusanali IS covering up the god of wood's death, because the elemental stones contain quotes from the current archons, and it wouldnt make sense if Kusanali, the god of wisdom, would want to be a spokesperson for plants instead of spreading wisdom.

  9. something that catched my attention was that they used 'the god of wisdom' to refer to the dendro archon two times instead of he or she in the travail trailer. the only other archon they didnt use gendered pronouns to was venti (referring to him as 'god') who afaik we already knew at the time.

  10. Kusanali is a chapter in Jakata Tales that has cultural significance to Indian culture and buddhism and in that chapter the kusha grass fairy was helped by a more powerful being by transformation. Since Sumeru is based on India and bits of Persia i think its very interesting
