Inside this mc war, I just have a question : why is canon even important ?
I get why you'd think Aether's the traveler and Lumine the lost twin, and I'm not even going to start over Hoyo's confirmation cause they change their minds everytime and yaddi yadda, it's just that I don't see why we should care even if there were a canon traveler and abyss twin. Like, it's not as if the story changes drastically whether the mc has boobs or a d.

Aether makes more sense as the main character since mihoyo uses him as the poster guy but honestly I regret not taking Lumine because she's way stronger than Aether I terms combat 😅

Guys, please just stop arguing about this whole thing. Both of the twins are acceptable as the main protagonist, based on which one the player chooses to add to their character roster. It's just that Aether is the twin MiHoYo chooses to advertise Genshin with. It's nothing more than that. Both twins are equally good in their own ways. Stop arguing about "who's canon" or "who's better" because they both are treated the same way in the game itself, advertisements set aside.
Not all protagonists are the center of the story like The Great Gatsby, the protagonist allows the reader (or viewer if u just saw the movie) to look through the protagonists shoes and experience it just as they did – often new things at that. Furthermore, this is also often used when the character at the center of the story and/or the world around them is hiding a dark secret that if they acted as the protagonist would be hard to hide. Therefore I can see why Aether is the true protagonist and why Genshin would give Lumine the flower to not only show the backstory wholesomeness but also that SHE is the center of the story, not aether even though we are going on the journey as him. Just as other protagonists in his case who weren’t the center of the story their actions attempted to stop the center character but often to no avail, and most likely this will happen with Lumine too. She’ll be too far gone when we finally meet her in the end and with one final scene it’ll be over with the center character disappearance. Leaving Aether like many of protagonists in his situation alone pondering the ways of life that they learned from the story.

As someone else pointed out already, Aether is a poster child. It doesn't automatically make him the better protagonist. Same thing for Lumine with the flower on her head (although it does make her feel more of an in depth character.)
Another thing someone else pointed out, Lumine and Aether are both canon and just have their own timeline.
Personally I do like Lumine more for multiple reasons, and I wish she appeared more in official content. . .

Everything makes more sense with Lumine as main character. Albedo is a clone of Aether created to be as close to Aether as possible, can't be in Lumines image because she didn't come to Teyvat till later. Dainslief is connected as a time traveler variant of Aether teaming with Lumine to prevent the Archon war repeating. Dain constantly talks in the past tense about remembering areas or things differently. So if you want to get super technically then Aether is the main character of the story, while Lumine is meant to play out the story.
If u ask me it's aether because if you play on Playstation the loading screen will show you aether ,not lumine,and mondstadt characters.

I love Lumine too don’t take this the wrong way, but it’s never stated that Aether put it in her hair. In fact she already had it in the fight with the Heavenly Principals. I find it to make more sense that Lumine picked it for herself as a keepsake for the fallen Khaenri’ah which they witnessed (hence them trying to leave in the first place) is the drive behind her actions.
Then again I’m an all around Aether main and like to see the silly sister being a cool sympathetic antagonist :’D
