  1. I have loved your theory crafting vids esp bec they are so detailed and informative. I understand hoyoverse stand on this as I've dabbled in NDAs before so monetising leaked contents are a big 🙅. It's kinda like using stolen money to give to charity. No one really wins.

None the less I'm looking forward to more of your character reviews or team building theory crafting because I find those really interesting.

  2. This is EXACTLY why I don't pay miHiYo anything. I don't care how good genshin is as a game (or isn't). MiHoYo are fucking arse holes to content creators and players.

  3. Okay….pfft. This is gonna be a long one but here we go.

Just set the record straight, do thousands of YouTubers get striked for BS daily? Yes. Did Hoyo overreach in this situation? To an extent, yes. Are you justified in disputing any strike you are given and/or expressing your opinion about it? Yes. You very much are but let's get into some specifics of how Hoyo tackles leaks, much like any other company.

For starters, when a company creates a product, they ensure they have every single basis covered for it. Copyright, trademarks, the whole nine yards. They also go to extreme lengths to keep unreleased and secret details about any product from getting leaked out to the public. This is for PR reasons because they want to control the narrative but it's also to ensure nobody tries to steal their secrets. For people who have access to that knowledge, they always put under a NDA and usually a very harsh one at that, remember this for later. This is to make sure they don't go running their mouths for personal or financial gain. This is all very common practice inside any kind of business. What is also common practice is purposely leaking specific details about their new products in advance.

Companies will leak details in advance to build up hype and to gauge how popular their product might be once it comes out. This is also done to get rid of undesirable details the public doesn't like before releasing the product. What is so great about this system is every company can just say the leak isn't true or in the worst case scenario, they were hacked. This completely removes any risk from the company or any bad PR. It's actually a very smart move. The general public feels like they're getting the inside scoop while the company is getting to field test their new product without actually releasing it. Now how do game companies specifically do this? There are plenty of ways but using big content creators is one of them.

These big creators are partnered with Hoyo and therefore get premium access to content that is still in development. Now this is where the NDA's come in. These creators are only allowed to leak information in the exact way Hoyo tells them to. If they screw up at all, losing their channel is the least of their worries. This is why other creators can "get away with it" and you can't. Now let's talk about you.

You are a free agent or a variable they cannot control. They don't have you under a NDA so to them, you are a huge risk and you're not the only one. Hoyo wants to run Genshin as they see fit and you talking about leaks or information as you see fit completely flies into the face of that. See the issue?

If you were to convince your followers to not wish for a character based leaks, this would hurt their profits. Now remember when I said they own every little thing about this game? Legally they own everything and leaking what amounts to corporate secrets whether you're the source or not is a big no no, especially on YouTube. YouTube does not want to be viewed as a sponsor for leaking inside info as it would hurt their business and possibly put them in legal hell so yes. They will blanket strike content to cover themselves and Hoyo will do the same to halt leaks. This is just common business practice. Is it harsh? Yes. Could you beat it in court? Yes but you would probably get into a huge amount of debt and would also lose your Genshin account because you would be in direct violation of it. This is just life and how the business world works.

Now to your defense. Honestly, your defense is weak. Muting the video and randomly skipping through it really doesn't give any context to the video so anyone with a head won't take you at your word and will honestly see you already in a bad light because you seem to be withholding info to make your case seem better. If you think this is harsh, try doing that in actual court. The other side will tear you to shreds.

The best thing you can do is to either find other avenues of content or seek out a business deal with Hoyo so you can talk about leaks to an extent. However after this video….yeah you burned that bridge. The thing you copied and pasted is just a general copyright stuff. The second one seems to be the important one because merely discussing leaks is enough to get your video removed on YouTube. Now if it truly went up when Heizou came out then this strike came from a wave of them Hoyo put out to stop leakers and you were just caught up in it. This is why you seriously should avoid talking about any types of leaks from any game because you will be at risk unless you partner up with the company in question.

To conclude this, Hoyo isn't targeting you. They just don't want the control of their product to leave their hands and from a business perspective, I can get it.

  4. In light of the Corykenshin stuff going on and them ignoring other folks it sounds like typical companies being racist. The penalty for false claims should honestly be getting their account removed and permanently banned from yt. They would be a hell of a lot more cautious then.

  5. Perfectly understandable. I did start watching your videos for the TC. If people want theorycrafting and you're not giving it anymore, it's easy, just watch a different YouTuber who wants to risk it.

  6. I worked for a marketing agency previously, and we had a staff working full time just to communicate with YouTube and Google. Often we had to edit our content and appeal over and over again, (even with approval from copyright owners) to get them published on these platforms. I don't know the details of what you're experiencing. There could just be an embargo on let's say word "heizou" and your video title triggered the ban. Just out of curiosity did you appeal to YouTube or contact hoyoverse. Anyways sorry to hear about what happened.

  7. Meanwhile you have other popular theorycrafters, people know who I'm talking about, straight up showing leaked weapons, stats, and talking about characters that aren't out with no repercussions. They're definitely targeting you and showing favoritism to others

  8. I came to your channel very late but your yae miko video literally saved my primogems. Even though we both play yae miko different your videos om her still helped me. Even your ayato and yelan videos helped me out alot (even though I don't own those 2). I was hoping for a video about nilou since she's the character I'm going after before nahida but given the circumstances of hoyoverses actions I understand why you didn't make any. None the less I can't wait for your review of her if you end up getting her.

  9. I think you were already in Hoyoverse’s radar since your pre-release theorycrafting videos (the ones with infographics) were spot on. Youtube finally struck you out of nowhere even if the report Hoyoverse made had no grounds.

I am so sorry this happened for you. You are one of my favorite Genshin Youtubber because of how objective and no bs you are. I hope you can channel that with guide videos of officially released characters because your math is really good plus I love your infographics.

Sending love! You got this, brotah! We are with you.

  10. I wouldn't be surprised if Hoyoverse copyright struck one of their own damn videos on their channel and YT allows it to happen and doesn't undo it when Hoyoverse realized they accidentally struck themselves and asks for it to be reversed.

  11. it's definitely sad to see you go since your one of the only ppl who covers theory crafting as soon as leaks come out and I don't have the patience to wait for kqm to come out with their things 2 weeks after release but yeah I wouldn't want to continue after 2 strikes either

  12. Not gonna lie, im one of the many who came in for the theory crafting, but stayed for the entertainment this man provides. I'll continue to support and be a part of your fam regardless of changes and decisions you made through your entire content creation. I'm with you all the way, smack be it with Genshin, ToF, FF/retro games and other games I may have not played and know.

  13. It's a damn shame. Your theorycrafting skills and intelligent analysis are so helpful. You're one of the better genshin content creators out there. Don't let the man get you down. Thanks for all your insight. Good man!

  14. Thanks for the transparency Smack, seeing it laid out like this with the lawyer letter and everything really put it into perspective. Hoyoverse is just abusing their power but sometimes that’s just how it is.

Kinda how like when you’re a kid and you’re arguing with your mom or dad about something. Even if you’re technically right, if they say otherwise then you better shut up or else they’ll bring out the belt and you’ll catch the meanest spanking of your life lol.

But I’m glad to see you’ve made peace with the situation and have put it behind you, I enjoyed the theorycrafting vids but I am 100% sticking around because I enjoy you as a content creator and you definitely have way more to offer than Genshin content. Peace brother.

  15. Ohh Smack, I am sorry this happened to you, man. Thanks for showing the whole story, specially for us that don’t use Twitch. Finally I understood the process and whoa that lawyer is savage! You made the right decision and, as you said, it could have been worse. I love your content and will follow what you do, genshin or not, just keep it up and don’t get discouraged to produce content. Stay in the safe zone, kinda unfair but it is what it is. Peace!
