why Geo is the STRANGEST element in Genshin Impact

Geo is a pretty cool albeit weird element in Genshin Impact, and as of 2.7, there have been lots of relatively largescale changes over time to Geo that have elevated it from a very awkward and out of place element to a… well still kind of awkward, but stable element that is capable of doing lots of things whether for its own characters or characters of other elements. So let’s talk about why Geo is the STRANGEST element in Genshin Impact.

Disclaimer: This is a video analyzing and discussing Geo as an element for its overall power level and how that correlates to Geo characters. This is not a comparison video or a sort of power ‘tier’ or ‘gauge’ video.

  1. You lost me on the explanation of Crystalize. First of all, Crystalize doesn't take into account the DEF of the character but their ELEMENTAL MASTERY + LEVEL (that's way it's so lackluster) and it doesn't stack nor take into account the EM of the character that took the crystal, only the stats of whom generated it. The classical case of CCs that doesn't know shit about the mechanics of this game. Have a good day.

  2. It's would be cool and lore accurate if Geo behave abit more like Anemo. Like how Az able to absorb the others 4 element in his boss fight.

Whenever you pick up a crystalize shield you infuse your geo attack with that element the high your character EM are the higher the damage gain and tougher the crystallize shield.

  3. Geo is really a strange element. Besides from what dragonfly mentioned, Geo is somehow unintentionally disregarded by Hoyoverse. Yeah, they released Itto, Gorou and Yun Jin currently and Husk set, but the thing is Geo still isn't as valuable than other element. Geo teams are strong, but compared to mix element team they felt lacking. And now Hoyoverse will release Dendro and so far, there are no Geo reaction with Dendro. Seriously, the two things that work hand-in-hand in real life doesn't have any interaction? Meanwhile, Electro+Dendro have a reaction? Dendro might be the best buff to Geo for reaction department, yet they disregarded the possibility. For what? To buff Pyro, Hydro and Electro more? The three elements that already have overpowered reactions needs more, meanwhile the lacking one will be forgotten once again.

  4. i love geo but i do wish crystalise was more impressive than what it is :’) crystalise is quite useless especially if you have zhongli. maybe if they make it so crystalise deals some damage when it shatters so it has some offensive use.

  5. Unless you're a whale, it's by far the safest team comp. Geo comp is near unkillable you literally become a Juggernaut. Damage you say? You can't deal damage when your team is dead.

  6. Love love love Geo! Crystallize for no-flinching which brings a bit of QoL as I suck at dodging. XD

Only letdown is no damage to Geo Slimes (welp rip just use Black Tassel and whack them with Daddy Zhongli).

  7. The biggest problem is crystallize. Whoever thought tiny paper thin shields should be the only reaction with the entire element of Earth in a game whose entire CRUTCH is elemental reactions should be fired and maybe sent to the guillotine idk im flexible on that

  8. geo is my favourite element but crystallize is a subpar reaction imo. however, i gotta say that crystallize carried my squishy ningguang through early game lol

  9. Cristalize reaction would be better if the shields created could pulse with the element that created it or cause a blast of its element if it got broken or its time expires.

  10. Eh I'd still argue Pyro or cryo are better mono options because their roster have a whole lot of units that buff their elements like Bennett xiangling c6 shenhe, their respective resonances and kazuha has a free pass to these mono teams

  11. Yun Jin being for multi-element teams is a common misconception. She is solely a NA buffer, but her small increases with other element types in the team is merely icing on the cake not the main course. Don’t worry about focusing on putting in 4 different elements with Yun Jin. Surprisingly though Yun Jin works best in physical dps comps with low alpha dmg dps characters like Fischl, Rosaria, or Qiqi.

  12. I’ve always been a Geo main. First mained Ningguang, now Noelle. I regularly clear abyss with my Noelle team. My Ningguang can burst for 250k+ with c6. My Noelle fully buffed can hit 60-70k crits, sometimes more in abyss with the right floor buffs.

  13. It would be a much better Element, if it would be based on Crystallize only, but would use Crystallie just as defense mechanic as part of Geo Resonance Effect, so that Geo could n should receive reactions like all other elements, except Anemo, meaning
Anemo + Geo = Swirl, so that we have Aoe Geo DMG too
Hydro + Geo = Mud, so that Geo has a reaction that slows movement and becomes Petrification over time.
Electro + Geo = Magnetism, so that Geo gains CC options, pulling n pushing targets around
Cryo + Geo = Fragility, so that theres a reaction that works as Defense Debuff and makes shields alot easier to break.
Pyro + Geo = Smokescreen, granting Allies for a while Stealth, that in return grants guaranteed Crit Hits with 25% more Crit DMG
Dendro + Geo = Overgrowth, basically what Dendro Hilis cread, rapid growing thorn vines, which cause on touch dendro dmg to targets, which are in return imflammable to create burning areas.

Thats how Geo should have been from begin on Day 1

  14. Geo has the must satisfying redemption arch in genshin impact. From the weakerst element in the game to a powerfull lone wolf that comes to the rescue in the moments of need. Plus is super good to farm becouse most of the units want def or HP (Zhongli) in their build, and you can do with any number of 2 and 4 piece artifacts convinations from four piece hust, four piece noblesse, to any convination of those with the multilple two piece attack opcions the archaic petra, etc, etc, etc. You don't need a full 4 piece set to have insane levels of damage and if you have them you just get even higher numbers.

  15. Just think of geo this way, it's just like physical dmg but with extra privileges. Think about it, Physical doesn't react to elements in a way it will affect your dmg output, that's the same for geo, but you can deal geo dmg when using skills, and you get a shield when you react with elements. Sure it is two different things but you can see a similarity.

  16. If only geo elemental reaction is a amplifier that scale with characters attributes, deal dmg (also scales with characters attributes) and shred elemental resistances.
