Who is Jiangxue? Genshin Impact Theory

What do we know of the fishy fisherman, Jiangxue? And is it enough to hint at what his past might have been? We’re tackling the mystery behind the Wangshu Inn’s favorite freeloader, and seeing if we can conjure up some theories on how his life may have landed where it currently is.

This dude’s my favorite NPC in the game, and I really hope miHoYo keeps giving us small glimpses into his past, before finally tying him into the main story.

  1. I know this is unrelated, but I found an out of bounds to the right of the Yanshang Teahouse(to the right of the crafting bench) in Liyue. Use Klee or any short character and position yourself in between the rocks and the railing so that you start climbing and try to get as low as possible and then let go to clip into the rocks(make sure your character is climbing the railing side and not the rock side). You can then head left(facing the Teahouse) a bit to some gaps in the geometry to clip into the foundation(this part I recommend dropping down a and climb the rock a bit to position yourself to walk into the foundation), then you'll reach an invisible wall. IDK how I did it, but on the first time that I successfully clipped into the rocks I managed to also clip through the invisible wall and on the other side is the underside of the Liyue streets. I haven't managed to recreate clipping through the invisible wall, but I managed to somewhat consistently clip through the rock though.

Also great video BTW, I really like the creative use of B-roll you got.

  2. jiangxue is clearly childe in disguise, there’s so much evidence.
1: childe defeats 6 ruin hunters in 10 seconds during his hangout
2: jiangxue is only allowed at the inn so he probably has a bad reputation, like the fatui, and childe.
3: he’s a fisherman. childe summons freaking whales during his battle and childe’s younger brother also states childe caught a very big fish, which is probably a whale.

btw this is a joke but holy the coincidences

  3. "Got some thoughts of your own on the matter?'
Yeah I fuckin' hate this dude. I went tit for tat with a giant water god, a big ass dragon, a giant rock frog that was supposedly Zhongli's equal, casually do 700k damage with my burst attacks… And you mean to tell me I'm "in a bit over my head" with a single shitty ruin hunter this guy casually OHKOs? Yeah I'm salty about it. Screw this dude.

  4. a good question, i also have my own answer but i havent done any deep research yet and there some important missing evidence as well
my guess is Jiangxue might be Amber missing grandfather
    why:
    – Amber missing grandfather is from Liyue, his name was never mention
    – He stayed at Mondstadts to repay his debt after a fail mission from Liyue
    – He is powerful enough to create and become a leader of a team in Favonius knight order
    – From Amber and Eula description of him before he went missing, he is still very healthy and strong for a man of his age
    – the message board in Quince village also mention a long time missing person return recently which is very likely is him
    – Quince village is relatively close to the inn
    – when he gone missing from mondstadts he left behind a sword

  5. When you start talk about the yaksha there is one more unknown yaksha based from the millelith artifact involve during the war between the millelith and the abyss at the chasm. So expect interesting story about the yaksha in far future.

  6. Jiangxue was Timme's dad. He murdered countless of Timme's birds with his Q, and then run away after knowing his son was a stand user. And he also threw away his vision to get rid of the evidence

  7. If he truly was the dirty hand of the Qixing, then why would they keep him alive at Wangshu Inn? Surely they won't risk a former employee that might leak the secret, possibly horrendous acts of the Qixing (if true) done many years ago to the public right?

  8. Looking at that lvl 22 ruin hunter a thought passed my brain. If I had a low level friend who got this commission but I joined and did it for them would it be possible to one shot the hunter?

  9. I doubt that hes a yaksha, in xiao's teaser, the narrator mentions how xiao is the last yaksha in the "living realm", meaning that either they're dead or not in this realm. So him being a yaksha is pretty much impossible

  10. honestly genshin impact's stories are so full of frauds and fakers, i wouldn't be surprised if he just claims to have some tragic back story to do nothing all day and get food for free xD
