When You Realize Yun Jin's New Voice Actor is kinda… – Genshin Impact

Yun Jin gets another VA making her the only character with 2 voice actors on all 4 dubs, the Chinese VA is actually an opera singer that’s not involved with the Chinese dub and plays some part in Yun Jin’s voice overs especially in upcoming Lantern Rite event. This is a nice addition MiHoYo’s team have thought out to share more about her culture and the overall quality of the character

  1. Hiii I'm Chinese and I'm so glad they added the VA Yang Yang's opera singing in all dubs because Chinese opera is one of our proud tradition ! It cannot be dubbed by other languages because it's literally a Chinese based opera so that is why it's in Chinese for all dubs , I was really happy to see that Mihoyo hired a professional chinese opera singer for this! I already loved her moves that were based on the traditional 中国京剧, like the kicking of spear amagawd so delicate and GRACEFULLL MY QUEEN TwT I'm definitely getting her and I'm gonna stare at her idle animations all day! It would be so cool if her burst changes her outfit into the chinese opera stage outfit aaaaaa CRIES
To those who were rude towards this, you guys are literally ignorant towards other cultures except your own one.. and literally Mihoyo is a China based game, why u mad at a Chinese company for adding Chinese elements? I'm a Chinese player and I loved all different elements in Genshin.. Some people joke on her singing and that's just so upsetting .. oke I typed too much, sorry if I made any grammar mistakes huehue

  3. There is nothing wrong with the actual opera singing. It’s just that how yunjin looks does not match chinese opera. She looks like a kid but this opera singing sounds way older than how you would expect her to sound.

  4. Did I think it sounded weird when I first heard it? Yes.
Did I ever in my life hear Chinese opera before? No.
So ofc I think is weird/different. But like others said, I appreciate the fact that they didn’t try to dub her opera singing.

There are three easy fixes for people that don’t want to accept they left it like this:
    1. Play without sound.
    2. Don’t make her go idle
    3. Switch to another character if you plan on leaving the game running without being present.
    Problem solved.

  5. I'm literally in love with the opera singing, like it gives the opportunity for players to explore Chinese tradition and culture. So I am so happy Mihoyo has gave this role to a character

  6. Never heard anything before from Chinese opera so it did sound weird to me specifically, but I do appreciate Mihoyo's effort to be really authentic. It does take a lot of effort to pull something like that off.

Also, I'm just gonna point out that her English and Japanese VAs sound really good too. Seems like quality all around.

  7. Coming from someone who's chinese grandma listens and sings to chinese opera, yunjin's singing is one of the few that don't make me cringe, man yunjin's tame compared to the actors with red face paint and eyeliner that goes to your forehead, and I'm glad more people are learning about chinese opera, even if they don't like it

  9. loving how mondstadt is a vague soup of nordic and germanic cultures and liyue+inazuma are respectively china and japan down to every detail. im super tired of eurocentric fantasy, especially as an european, props to them for focusing on the more fun aspects of the world

  10. I personally think people don’t have to like it, even if it’s beyond the shock of first time hearing it and without music. I’m sure Genshin doesn’t have a huge community of opera fans and even slimmer with a traditional Chinese opera so it might just not be for everyone. The issue extends from how people react from there. It’s nice to see influence of culture being added in and how characters some audiences wouldn’t ever be exposed to being utilized and of people are choosing to interact with a Chinese game there is no right to be rude and insensitive in your expression of distaste. There are ways to say you aren’t a fan or like something without being shitty.

  11. With all due respect, as someone who has never heard of Chinese opera, it sounds super weird. Thought it was a sound effect of an enemy unit dying or sth.

    Sorry China. Gotta be honest.
Western opera doesn’t appeal to me either so maybe its the genre in general lol

  12. Take a listen to traditional Chinese operas! This is exactly what you would hear the singers sound like when you watch them, plus they are quite entertaining, though some may find it boring.
