I'm glad you covered this because I do see it asked a lot, including myself not too long ago. I decided to launch it & I'm a big fan, truly enjoy the game. I have invested $$$ & I have been rewarded & it's worth it (to me). But! I haven't yet invested $60 in total. You made a good point… if a company makes a good product that you enjoy, then why not support that IF you can? And if you can't or rather not, then it's still a win/win by just playing & enjoying for free.
This has easily become my unwind for day game. This and Dead Cells, which I just recently got into & crazy about it. I love the world in Genshin & of course I see some parallels w/ BoTW, but they're independent games entirely.
I have to add this. In 1997 or ' 98, not long after I got married to my beautiful wife, I got introduced to *EverQuest*, which nearly ended my marriage about 3 years into it & it was serious. All that game was was a GRIND! But that, along with the community, made it so much fun. I became so addicted to that game that I would come home & move my PC to the kitchen table in our tiny apt & play until it was time to go to work – no sleep! It easily consumed 75% of every aspect of my life. I've yet to ever get as engrossed in a game as I did with EQ. It was not healthy at all, nearly cost me a lot, but was so much fun and I miss it just thinking about it. Those were the days (kind of)!
I would love to support and play this game but I just can't get behind gacha games. Just give me direct purchases and I'll be glad to support any game
I would recommend this game and at the same time i will not recommend this cause this game is. Addicting AF both the reason this Good and Bad
I'm a free to play and recently I got Xiao (my first five stars character) , thanks to studying the pity system and saving all the primogems fron dragonspine for his banner, since every 75 wishes the chances of getting a five star increases and the wish number 90 is guarantee a five star. A friend of mine (free to play too) did the same and got Xiao aswell.
Also, in my firsts wishes of the game I was actually pretty lucky and I got the five star wolf greatsword
AR 0 gang
I started playing since the end of December. I have 3 5stars as a f2p (2characters and 1 weapon). I picked this game up because of the similarities with botw, f2p, and I was exhausted of MHW, since I beat all the monsters, played all the weapons, and didn't want to grind for more decorations (they won't ever give me the damn capacity boost Dec) What made me continue to play genshin was actually how casual it is. It was a game I could start and stop at anytime and never really felt the need to "grind for x artifact. It's a very relaxing game, perfect for my exhausted mind when I come back from work.
Thanks
Makes you feel like your playing a living anime the story and animation are so cool.
Buying the battle pass and the monthly card for primos cost you $15 and the rewards are so worth it if you were looking for something to buy that's reasonable
If you play long enough F2P can get quite a bit focusing on a core team and managing resources is a must if you want to progress as much as others or anywhere close to it doe
Play more charge blade
playing Genshin since launch and almost 300 hours, it's more than most full priced games I've played recently except for MHW. Spent a total of 15 bucks on the battle passes and I think it's definitely worth it, I love adventure/rpg games and this is actually a well made one despite being free, even though my interest is lower now since I've finished all the story content and explored every corner of the map, it keeps me entertained grinding to build my characters and developers are supporting the game with content drops regularly. I believe the turn offs for some people are probably the anime style (to each it's own) and worries about gacha, yes, it's a predatory practice and if you have gambling issues stay far away, for everybody else, I don't think it's an issue, I've never payed a cent for wishes and got more characters than I need only using the currencies given to me by playing.
Played for a few hours and gave up. POV is way too close up and gives me a headache. Plus I already hate RNG and def can’t get behind gacha.
Just started playing yesterday
I would play if I had the right console/device to play but for now I play Dragalia Lost instead because of the fighting mechanics, story, art, variety of strategy, and team building
If you like open world games in an anime style with nice graphics, nice character designs, nice story and with pretty unique combat then definitely Yes.
I personally love this game, been playing it since oktober 2020. I got pretty lucky with the pulls (got Diluc, Childe, Zhongli, Xiao & Jean), but my main is still Beidou.
I'm also a low spender, I only buy the 90 gems a day for a month and the BP every month. But you can definitely play it f2p. Give it a chance!
I play genshin right after it released thanks to one of my fb friend told me about it now its my top hours spend on ps4 and it will be my one and only game i ever play since most of my game are psn+ subscribtion stuff lol

Hate is a strong word DG. It is universally agreed that everyone dislike G.I for its "RESIN SYSTEM".
I played Genshin Impact when it first came out and dropped it a few months in. To me this game feels like a mobile game ported to consoles and pc, and I hate the whole mobile game design model. It concerns me to think in the future, given GI success, that other developers will take note and start making more mobile game model games for consoles.
