More units are coming that apart from consistent damage for the DPS that have recently been released have unique mechanics just like her and can do more than one thing, she has competition and that might good to some extent of course

remember when I first got ganyu people recommended morgana like everyone has another 2 five star units but despite that, the good thing about freeze teams is that it doesn't use Bennett or xingqiu which means they can be used on the other side on abyss
Going to melt ganyu, as someone who does have Bennet, xiangling, zhongli and even kazuha it still clears slower than childe international for me along with the fact that it doesn't feel that fun to play either
But again despite that, I still do think she's the best dps in the game since she's very flexible. I don't have morgana and her melt supports are taken and do better anyway so I don't personally use her at abyss tho

Great video! I agree with some points but I would like to address this little confusion in my head:
This is a team building strategy game so shouldnt we determine how good a character is in their best team, or the team building capabilities that character can provide?
Lets say we replace Ganyu with Childe in the XL-Bennett-Zhongli. Suddenly, this Vape Childe team is also really good! But people dont necessarily say that Childe is bad because he requires your top tier support. (As far as i know lol)

People think maximizing 2 second cd from ganyu is easy..in reality you need skill and concentration to do that..not everyone has same skill,that's why when u see awesome ganyu on YT and you try it for yourself the result will be different
This is literal nonsense. Burst oriented main dps does have an advantage, but it being the sole argument for determining the best main dps is just stupid. There are only a few enemies that actually restrict you to a small timeframe to deal damage, like hypostasis, so ganyu not having that high burst damage is not an issue.
Melt ganyu also doesn't beat every team in the game, that is also a huge misinformation. Also saying ganyu is good cuz of her supports is another nonsensical comment, since she can reach very high potential with just her CA, and also you seem to forget that this is a team game, and that you can also run her with ayaka in the same team. Melt ganyu also isn't stronger than sukokomon if sukokomon is playe correctly, you just throw random team names around without knowing their actual damage potential
The reason ganyu is the best main dps in the game is not cuz of her damage, but cuz of her flexibility. And flexibility in a senze that if you pull her, you cover EVERY piece of content with her 2 comps. She is nuts in both single target and AoE. What other dps character besides xiangling has that ?

What makes her one of the best to ME, is that she’s very versatile in every aspects. In a specific more reason, her DPS consistent is insane, probably the highest or one of the highest. The only character I think that is better than her is hu tao and maybe ayaka.
Aye bruh if I was y’all I’d pull for xiao if you don’t already have him over ganyu because mihoyo can’t keep neglecting xiao forever and he will eventually get a buff in some way whether it be a new BIS weapon or artifact set and he is already pretty strong without it does a ton of damage if built right and has crazy AOE sure he’s not ganyu melt comp material but he’s definitely gonna get a buff at some point and he does way more AOE wise, ganyu is more single target and with xiao you don’t gotta worry about missing a shot or enemies moving too much so yea and xiao is more fun for sure😬

If you want to have to best melt team put kazuha instead of xiangling since his pyro application is much easier than hugging the enemies (do bennett burst before his and it will infuse in pyro)
Theory crafters say childes national is the best team in the game, with he closest being raidens national so I'm very confused right now about that melt ganyu part.
Still gonna pull for ganyu cuz I already have a problem with building only supports, and unfortunately one of my only 5 star weapons is amos bow. My two abyss teams are basically all supports, so it's fine no matter who I pull for since my supports are the ones carrying 🥴
I can't skip her because Mihoyo keep giving me Amos Bow from standard banner. 😭

As a long term Ganyu player, I agree with most of your points. but having a cryo support like shenhe (which also benefits other cryo units greatly) will not make her stand out from the other cryo unit like Ayaka. In fact most people would argue that Ayaka is better for the current abyss in terms of clear time. To me what she truly lacks is a new best in slot weapon. she can't really use amos bow's bonus to its full potential in a melt comp due to being at close range. Almost every top dps in game has their own signature weapon and the difference is noticeable; while she has a BiS from perma banner. Amos bow is also a mondstadt weapon so it also makes no sense lore wise.
I love ganyu but I can't use bows and yoimiya is really unused. If she's easy to use I might pull but if she's not, I'll save up for some new character
Zhongli is fairly replaceable with Diona
One advantage ganyu holds is that she doesn't require too much grinding and is still very good as a solo dps. Proven by how I just used her with a relatively low effort build(cr30/cd130, 1700 atk, wanderers troupe) and was able to solo the first 3 floors of abyss with her.
So Let's get this settled is ganyu still strong?

It is kind of ironic that going by initial numbers Ganyu is actually much better cryo support than Shenhe.
I think as things are now you would have to be pretty strong Ayaka stan to pull Ganyu as support for Ayaka 4 months before Ayaka was even released and majority of players don;t have both characters currently. But boy combo Ganyu+Mona+Ayaka really feels super broken and I'm honestly curious if meta would go in this direction after Ganyu rerun.

Ganyu may not be to number 1 in dps due to recent mobs and abyss update but outside spiral abyss for world exploration wiping mobs she still a nuker you could snipe enemy from far. She still consider one of the best unit in the game where can be easy build even with f2p weapon to give out massive damage. She easily most worth unit pull in the game next to zhong li & kazuha. Definitely going to pull her on her rerun.

I like the points presented but it would be nice if we have data too along with these claims.
Since ayaka and ganyu are both cryo, they can use the same set of artifacts and do bosses all by themselves. No supports, just solos.
Then we proceed with other dps like hutao, childe etc. With almost the same amount of stats and record all time to clear stats.
Then after all that we can consolidate and check the results.
I still want Ganyu. My team is waiting for her evil laugh
