  1. i think hoyo tried their hand at having a companion to the MC with genshin but clearly, they were simply not ready for it. the main reason why paimon does not work, is because there is no balance. the traveler's journey is all in all a solitary one. genshin in the grand scheme of things is very different from other hoyo projects. other hoyo projects do NOT have 1 travelling companion. they have an actual main cast. HSR has Dan heng/welt/himeko who balance out March and The traiblazer being stooopid at times. hi3 has Da bronya/fu hua/mei etc to balance out Kiana being stooopid at times too. and ZZZ is a different case all together because the different factions we meet in chapters are an actual lesson in how to write great interactions and group dynamics in games.

  2. No she isn't the most hated, only idiots hate her, she is the best/cutest/funiest/most precious companion and partner we could have.
She has literally never been rude so you are just making sht up at this point.
The only bad thing genshin has is the idiotic and toxic paimon haters

  3. I hate paimon cz she is made to be so black and white, filtering the tone of the story to be 'pg' and thus catering to wider audiences

I've aways thought that genshin dev in a way kinda underestimated the age group of their playerbase bc its definitely not majored by little kids, and yet they still presented the story as if its some kind of bed time story that needs adult censoring to not scare 'fragile kids' from mature topics. They're rly disrespecting the intelligence of their audience imo

  4. Im not even 30 seconds into the video and I am baffled people actually hate paimon. At first I didn't like her but then I tested out Wuwa, ZZZ, and honkai star rail, and they made me like paimon so much more. she is annoying but she only annoys us by giving us information we should have known. One thing people always talk about is how she becomes relatively clueless in new regions. This however gives other characters a better reason to support the traveler. to add to that, she said she'd be a guide yes, BUT she also prob only thought for mondstadt and not all of teyvat. Its pretty clear as she only knows the basics of each place but prob never traveled there herself before, and even so, that's enough. Imagine you were magically placed in a new world. A hermit would prob be a better guide then no one at all.

  5. šŸ˜… It seems I belong to minority who doesnt hate Paimon. Hate is such a strong negative word. Her having no filter nor being insensitive sometimes makes me face palm but her care to the traveler is geniune. I actually have a cousin that have almost same attitude but it never bother me, though there are times i wanna spank her for being annoyingšŸ˜‚

  6. Paimon is the reason i stopped playing Genshin, all around annoying and agravating character, ruining the seting of every serious quest and mysticism of the zones with stupid lines, speaking for the travelere 90% of the time with most of the lines being just fluff, squeaky reaction or repeating lines of previous dialogue and the worst and most annoying english dub ever created, it physically hurt my ears. I would gladly pay 250$ for the option to permanently abandon Paimon and remove it from the game.

  7. To be honest its the voice mainly, sometimes her tone fits perfectly with unserious/funny/akward moments and wyen she shifts to serious or worried you actually feel for her (like wuen she was worried about the traveler in sumeru) but on mid and regular dialogues her voice can ger tiresome really fast, spwcially considering how little to none the traveler voice is used in comparison

  8. I have such a love hate relationship with paimon because like… All the dialogue i don't care about could be cut down to a third of what it is if she shut up, but she's also so sweet at times. Like the time she got insecure and wanted to know if the traveler still cares about her or if we are annoyed by her now? I almost cried! Things like that shows that she is in essence a little kid still!
And i love the fan art of her and the traveler being buddies. I think i just like the concept of her being a companion more than i actually like her

  9. When I first started playing, I didn’t mind her. But when I came back, I couldn’t stand her. She is canonically supposed to teach traveler the language. We are in Natlan. Can traveler not speak after years of being in teyvat? It’s bullshit. Let me hear Aether speak.

Edit: good traveler character development would be them speaking.

  10. I don't exactly hate her but I would definitely welcome more Traveler voicelines in the quests, like make the Traveler more relevant I beg. Paimon had her sweet moments like in the Sumeru AQ when we tried to escape the Samsara on our own and she thought she'll be left alone.
HOWEVER, what the ffff was going on with her in Navia's story quest? She was so insensitive to someone talking about a dead parent. That quest really ruined my attitude towards her and I've been rolling my eyes ever since.
She is really in need of some character development, she's going very stale very fast.

  11. I want an annual Bull Chucker and Flying Lavender Melon event. Last year’s concert event was really fun.

honestly, i wish every region could get their own ā€œlantern riteā€ in a manner of speaking. in november, we get the sabzeruz festival, in march we get the windblume festival, in june or smth we get the irodori festival, we can have an annual film festival in fontaine, we can have an annual pilgrimage sorta event in natlan. it’d also give them a good excuse to pull some characters out of obscurity.

  12. Tbh my perspective changed a lot when I started seeing Paimon as a tool for the kids playing.
She explains everything because a kid playing might need confirmation or reads too slow
Her reactions are simplistic and not nuanced because that's how a kid would react and having a character in game react that way validates their feeling and makes it easier for them to follow the plot and not get frustrated
She calls herself the guide because a kid wouldn't want to be seen as a companion or a sidekick, they want to feel important.
I really felt this during Natlan's quest, to not spoil. Her reaction to some scenes seemed like that of a kid who doesn't want to play anymore because things got too sad or scary and the traveler's reasurance sounded like an older sibling reminding them it's a game and it will be okay.

I don't think kids that young should be playing a game like Genshin. But i also know kids that young are probably playing Genshin so I like seeing Paimon as a tool for them.

  13. 20:31 personally didnt like this scene. I couldn't help but feel like paimon having such an emotional reaction made the fact that the civil war we got dragged into in inazuma meant nothing. There wouldn't have been any issue at all if we didnt get dragged into a war already. Maybe its just due to the overall poor writing and portrayals done with inazuma. It would've been better if she made at least some mention of the previous war were in, but she talks as if this is her first time experiencing this and it just rubs me the wrong way

  14. 17:22 that’s why it’s always gonna be one of my fav genshin quests I might be a little bais since I hate paimon but it honestly just felt like such a good quest because she wasn’t there always making jokes and comments that ruin sooooo many quests!!

  15. I hate her. My favorite moment with her was when traveler went out of Sumeru city for a while to investigate about the samsara. I'm super hyped about having another moment like that when traveler goes to fight the abyss with Mavuika and they make Paimon stay. I hope that final war lasts the whole patch.

  16. i think the best way to reintegrate paimon without ruining her current character is by giving the player the option to discuss with paimon after an archon quest, or if stellar reunion (where the player was gone for a while) is unlocked, paimon asks the traveler if they need a refresher. this way, the player isn't scrambling to remember what's going on and dialogue skippers can just have a quick summary.

honestly, i like the childishness paimon has. my favorite part of her character is when the traveler went past the barrier of the samsara in the sumeru archon quest and she started crying during the next reset. i wish they reintegrated her a little more, and made her banter with the traveler rather than being the reactive sidekick. i personally adore her, and while her gags can be a bit annoying if you were playing for the entire time that genshin was out, if you weren't, its a lot of fun to have a quick trip down memory lane with an old joke.
