Also plz remember this is supposed to be a fun video exploring the darker themes of genshin okay I'm not saying this is the scariest game ever LMAO chill out its supposed to be for fun!!!
The Tsurumi Island quest…
Im suprised Sun Children, Jinnie quest and her background or even small stuff like Tadhla wasnt mentioned :c
Me who doesn't read =)
Im horrified and unsettled by when I'm climbing and I try to look at my character's butt and they disappear
If you like the creepy stuff of Genshin, you should look at the description of Ganodermas…
Learned a long while back that this game is decidedly dark. Does that mean I enjoy it any less? Absolutely not. If anything, I'm excited to see how Hoyo maintains its current trend of wtf and WTF
Never played minecraft?
I'd like to mention the second Jeht quest with the Tanit. There's this sad horror to everything. At first, everything seemed strange, but nothing too alarming, but then when all of these betrayals were unearthed and you see how it affects Jeht, it's just sad and terrifying. And it all culminates with you and Jeht literally killing and wiping out the entirety of the Tanit tribe and Jeht finally putting her parents at rest in the Eternal Oasis; when you go back to the Tanit camp, it's completely empty with no sign of life. It's all so bittersweet. Not to mention the Falcon quest where we work with and befriend one of the members of the tribe, Falcon, and then we're forced to kill her.
And thinking about, Golden Slumber was also like that, with the entire concept of Jebrael sacrificing himself to be trapped in the Golden Slumber with Samail, all sense of his individuality lost to this place between life and death.
SHE MENTIONED FEAR AND HUNGER, I CAN REST EASY NOW.
The moment Genshin terrified me was when we, the Traveler, was walking away from the aftermath of Signora's death. How not even ashes remained at that moment as soon as she was exterminated by the Electro archon. While walking, we are going in a slow and steady pace with thunder rumbling and our vision blurred. I don't know why but I was feeling very creeped out at that moment and wanted to immediately run back to Mondstadt to feel safe.
I absolutely love the Chasm and it's questline, and the final one with Yanfei&Yelan&others especially – as i got such a powerful Lovecraftian horror vibes from it. My favorite location in the game – kinda disappointed that it didn't get mentioned.
This is part of the reason why my favorite character and archon is Nahida, because she took no part in the genocide because she didn't exist.
i love genshin lore, at first i didnt exactly care for the stories in games and would just skip through dialog but when i started playing genshin impact the story just really stuck to me…when i finally "complete" my account ill probably make another just to relive those stories and try understanding them more since there was some things i did skip not knowing it had to do with the lore of the game, im so excited for what natlan brings us and who the unknown god truly is, theres many questions we still havent gotten an answer for and once our journey comes to an end im sure we will find out all those missing details and the truth of everything
To be fair you're not wrong. And the darker material is moving to the forefront the further we go. The unsettling material used to primarily be in the pages you would randomly find but (especially in Sumeru) they straight up talk about it in the main dialogue.
I’ve heard that the devs take a lot of inspiration from Dark Souls in terms of how they approach their storytelling and I think you can certainly see the influence in exploration where you can just stumble upon a lot of horrific details or stories of the world if you pay close attention.
Also, though, Adelinde is not a cannibal. lol
on top of that, with these quests it’s always hinted that the world we are seeing is all celestial wants us to see and when that image shatters due to the hexenzirssen (don’t know the exact name) or the primordial being elynas talks about are introduced there’s an essence of world building that these creators took a ton of time to really develop the depth of. These secrets are also hidden through the most innocent looking things take razor and andrius, d’valin and venti, APEP AND THE FUNGI/ARANARA. Genshin has one of the best story-telling teams of the modern day and I stand by that.
I think a classic one is the polluted water in liyue, quite a story goin through it
Mondstadt was all fun and games until i discovered the father in the cemetery at nights behind the cathedral, singing for his dead daughter. it's been more than a year since i started playing, and this thing still creeps me out.
That are a lot of cool horror elements you dug up there.
Sadly I don't like to read bad dialogue, which Genshin is known for.
The presentation also lacks a lot to be desired.
So, thank you for showing me this, but as long as we have Paimon and all the other stupid dialogue, I continue to rely on you and other creators to show me this.
There's this one ainu kid who got tortured every 4 days for 2 thousands years yeah
Here's the thing about the archons: they're controlled by celestia too for fear that they'll share the fate of those who dare defy them (orobaxi and the dragon lords, for instance)
I know im late but oh my gosh THIS WAS JUST WHAT I WAS THINKING!! like this game is so ominous once you get to the lore and weird stuff.
For me I never really got like scared from anything in Genshin, tho when I found out what happened to Ruu during the sacrifice that disturbed me a little
I completely understand. If you analyse the stories that usually are in the notes is exactly that…
Nice, someone who actually gets it. I dont play genshin because it was free and pretty, i play for the horrors and tears i have endured beyond the abyss, knowing full well what they mean when thay say "the sky of teyvat isnt real" and "teyvat has its own *laws*"; calmly waiting for the inescapable dark tale that "will" unfold once the mascarade of smiles and rainbows fade. Mihoyo broke my heart several times, then they released genshin…thus i play it spooked at every shadow, for i know they will do it agan…
The one and only time where I got terrified is the Dainsleif quest when I thought they beheaded an npc and when they chained the venti statue upside down
Enkanomiya scares me the most because I just have a lot of feelings about voids like the one under the map- like the teleport barrier is fine I just hate the omnipresent threat that one wrong step has you falling forever. Yk?
Love this!
The only thing frightening about genshin is how not fun and mundane the quests are bruh 💀
lol its never stated to be a game for kids there is so much forshadowing that this game is DARK AF.
