They might be the first archons but they weren't archons at that time and the current archons might be reincarnations or they might have been born with their leyline memories
This lore actually made me so sad whenever I went to Enkanomiya. It was just really sad because those children were innocent. They didn't have a clue, people hated them even if they knew they were innocent and no one actually wanted to help them other than like what, one person? It was just heartbreaking. I found this more heartbreaking than Ruu because he at least had friends and was happy and got a sort of good ending / closure.
Honestly, i think she sunchildren might be reference to archons, like the archons are manipulated by celestia on something

If we go according to this logic, then the archons could possibly be reincarnations of the sunchildren. After all, they definitely did die, so they can't possibly be the same people. A lot of chinese people believe in reincarnation, so it wouldn't be a far fetched theory. But it's probably not something they would reveal in game. It's probably just meant as some sort of like food for thought details for people who actually dig deeper I guess?

What worse is that the sun children's shadows can be seen 'dancing' as they get incinerated which meant that they were going through immense suffering and pain with full conscience, this can be told from the quest name: 'The Phaethons' Syrtos' whereas Syrtos is a kind of Greek folk dance and small hints from the quest dialogues

Children of the Sun just reminded me of the game Sky: Children of the Light. Both the game and Enkanomiya giving one of the most calm vibes I’ve ever felt.
Enkanomiya is definitely the saddest place in all of Teyvat, the exploration music has this sad tone, the place is mostly blue and no signs of human life, and the lore is pretty dark.
I don't know why I feel at peace in Enkanomiya with all this darkness.
If you think genshin is a sad game filled with tragic stories, you should play Honkai impact…😢
