But what was the actual cause of the Cataclysm?
What happened during the Cataclysm that caused everything to change in the current events of the game?
I believe that the answers to our questions were already given to us by Mihoyo, at the very beginning of the game.

I've been waiting for Aether and Lunine to reunite all this time.. but i guess that's just the beginning of the story
I think that there may be a very interesting parallel to draw between the cyclical life model in this theory and the idea that archons are replaced as I remember I saw a theory talking about how the tsaritsa’s plan could be to make sure that there aren’t anymore archons so that celestia can’t carry out other forms of destruction like it did with khaenri’ah idk tho
They all have a similar purpose, but different methods
I've always find it rly Interesting how the unknown goddess looks the same and even has the same abilities as the herscherr of the void (like when she stepped out of the void itself and walks on air). In honkai impact, it was mentioned that other universes have their own versions of herscherrs whose sole intent is to 'put humans back in their places' or just killing them all. I kept thinking how the unknown goddess must've been the genshinverse's own version of the void herscherr lmao.
I think it was also mentioned that the twins had the power to travel to other universes/worlds? What if they both came from the other universe and the void herscherr came after them lmao I'm bullshittinf
