"Ranking" Genshin Impact Characters By Their Voice Overs

Ranking Genshin Impact Characters on a tier list based on which of the four voice-over languages sound ‘best’ on each character in 2.3 between English (EN), Chinese (CN), Korean (KR), and Japanese (JP).

As stated in the video, this is based entirely on my own opinion, and the tier list format is used more-so to categorize them all. I’m not saying any of these languages are better than the others. Also, all the voice actors and actresses did a great job with their respective characters. This is just my preference over which language’s VA seems to suit each character best when I imagine what they might sound like.

If you want to see more random tier lists going forward, drop some suggestions in the comments as far as what theme you’d like to see!

  1. I used to play with Chinese a lot and even though I play in English now it holds a place near and dear to my heart. I agree with most of the choices here except Bennett 😭 I don't know why but to me the Bennett in Japanese sounds much older than the other Bennetts. His voice actor could've been a completely different character.

  2. Some random opinions of mine:
    • I personally think Yanfei's Japanese voice doesn't fit her at all. She's meant to be energetic, enthusiastic, and her personality even implies slight immaturity. She tries to find loopholes in the law instead of sticking to it completely. Her Japanese voice is way too mature-sounding for me.
    • Noelle's English is the same. She is young and enthusiastic, but also nervous and anxious, just like Xade said. Her English is too mature and soft-spoken.
    • Arataki Itto's Japanese voice is really good, but it doesn't fit his character. It's too deep and tough-sounding. Itto is immature and impulsive.
    • Hu Tao's Japanese voice is one of my favourite in the game. It's so cute, but not in a "pathetic" way. It's spooky and enthusiastic, and just fills me with joy. Especially her Hilitune!

Remember this is just my opinion, you don't have to agree 🙂

  3. I have my PC on Japanese and my mobile in Chinese. Hearing the characters in Japanese just gives off more of the anime vibe meanwhile I love hearing Chongyun in Chinese and surprisingly also Bennett. Now I wished that I have Hu Tao cause I also love hearing her sing in Chinese.

  4. as a korean dub player and a korean myself, i felt a random sense of accomplishment and pride every time a character went into the korean tier. i absolutely adore the voices and i think it deserves more recognition. thanks for coming to my tedtalk

  5. I like Lisa's English VA since even if she is flirty she also captures that laid back personality she has .

Also because I am biased towards Evelynn from League of Legends . Her undertones are literally Evelynn-sounding and I kind of find that funny

  6. EN Aether gives off the main character vibes you’d expect, Korean Aether is probably the voice you’d expect to hear from him, CN Aether is straight up ASMR and JP Aether is literally just your daily dose of serotonin.

Tbh I don’t really bother he could simply breath and I’d give him all I have-

  7. Gorou's voice comes off as mature because he is an adult. He's the general of the resistance and a whole part of his character is that he's a bit insecure about the fact his appearance doesn't match his status.

  8. to be honest, yanfei's japanese voice is the one i like the least- her little "boom boom!" just doesn't hit the same. she sounds far too formal for someone who skirts around the law and would be willing to become a rapper. right now i'm playing in chinese but her english will always live with me… "boom boom!"

  9. japanese voice actors are quite amazing but so as well the other voice actors. I feel that this is quite accurate! I think I want to try the kr va as well.

  10. It's sad that nowadays you have to repeat every ten seconds that it's just your personal opinion so you don't drown in a sea of hate. But anyways, I have one question. Where's Paimon? 😉
