We are just a month away from going to the long awaited hydro region, fontaine. Version 4.0 will introduce us to the new area fontaine, and is expected to be released on August 16th. Genshin Impact’s upcoming Fontaine roster looks to be one for the ages. With the official reveal of this new region via a teaser, Hoyoverse showed almost every playable character they will be releasing in the next six months. Since the launch of a new nation will bring in a lot of characters, players need to have an idea of what to expect.
Version 4.0 character banners may feature a selection of fan-favorite 5-star characters, as well as the introduction of the new character from Fontaine, Lyney. According to HutaoLover77 and Uncle YC, Lyney and Yelan will be the featured 5-star characters in Phase 1 banners, while Tartaglia and Zhongli will be the 5-star characters of the Phase 2 banners. Lyney is confirmed as the main new character in 4.0 banners, as he and his 4-star sibling, Lynette and Freminet, will be the first Fontaine characters to be added to the game.
Lyney’s gameplay has yet to be officially revealed, but his Pyro Bow combination and alleged DPS role in a team comp seem like a decent alternative to Yoimiya. Lynette is a four star anemo sword user, who will likely complement lyney’s gameplay. Whereas freminet is four star cryo claymore user.
Yelan is one of the best characters in the entire game, and her Hydro sub-DPS presence on the field is a great way to complement a team with Lyney – and any other, as her kit is quite useful for most teams. This makes Phase 1 banners in Version 4.0 a strong reason for players to use their Wishes. Tartaglia is still one of the strongest Hydro DPS in the game with a unique gameplay kit. The Geo Archon of Liyue is the game’s best shielder and his addition as a support character balances out the focus on the previously mentioned DPS characters. Of course, Zhongli can be built as a DPS, but that is up to the player’s choice. The Geo Daddy has not appeared in banners since September 2022, so having him be featured as an option a year after his last banner is a clever tactic.
On a similar note, you should remember that the order of the banners might change. This means that Tartaglia may end up appearing in Phase 1, with Yelan pushed back into Phase 2, for instance. The only character that is unlikely to change is Lyney.

  3. i NEED lyney and yelan to be together for the weapon banner so that i have a chance to get a good weapon for lyney 🙁🙁 im not rlly interested in yelan anyway, i just want lyney
