Well, the new enemies look kinda slow? So prob it will not be hard to kill them without shields also yes, depends how strong all this new mechanic will really be. I don't think ppl should worry about it too much, doubt they will make shields completely useless
I was fine with the whole corrosion mechanic since it made healers more valuable but also didn’t directly punish you for having a shield but it seems like each new patch mhy is introducing a new mechanic that nerfs shields like the new vishaps attacking based on energy, the pyro lector, and now the pyro husk enemy actually directly punishes you for having a shield. However they did say it’s if they manage to hit you so maybe if you can still dodge that could be a work around that ability. It’s still a little too early to say how annoying that ability will be just yet but I can’t help but feel it’s a more forced attempt to make healers more viable especially since Kokomi has a rerun next patch. I think it should be fine in the overworld but it could be even more annoying in the abyss. It also just feels like bad timing especially since they’re having a Zhongli rerun now. Not to mention all the other shielders who don’t have as strong a shield as Zhongli are being needed as well. This might not be that bad for veteran players but some of the more inexperienced players might have a pretty bad time. It’s just some questionable game design decisions to give the players a strong mechanic like shields only to essentially render them weaker and weaker over time. I’m just hoping that this isn’t going to become a trend that each patch introduces some form of an “indirect” shield nerf…

I have Zhongli, but I almost never bring him to abyss for the simple reason that he doesn't aid me that much in actually clearing the floors faster.
Abyss is hard for us F2P because of the time limit, not because we die easily. They don't need to nerf shields, because they never provided that much use anyway. They're way overrated for veteran players.
The only character that is going to be massively hurt by this is Eula, who needs a shield to be able to get stacks for her burst. The fact that she will now need to dodge even more means that she will be nerfed big time. I honestly think it's a shitty decision on Mihoyo's part. It's a terrible way to address the issue of lack of difficulty for whales and veterans. They need to add more floors and target whales by adding more difficult content, without making the current content more difficult for F2Ps and newer players
I suspect it'll be, just like the rift wolves, just a handful of places/situations where you'll get dinged for shielding. You'll still be able to smash through all the existing content with shields. Maybe you have to run a heal-heavy team in a few spots, or learn to dodge. (I'll do the former.) And I say all this as a Noelle and Zhongli loyalist. I think the community likes to get up in arms about stuff. If there's no impetus to build new characters for new teams, the playerbase will erode pretty quickly, as the day-to-day is pretty repetitive, and once you max your favorite eight characters, what's left to do?

the husk enemies have being severely nerf in the beta as of now, since people reported that shields aside from zhongli are completely an utterly useless when fighting them, to the point that they where forced to keep nerf the enemies, right now, the enemies get trap by venti's black hole, so they're gonna get shit on by venti and kazuha, the other thing with that, is that they specifically want to powercreep zhongli to the point he is no longer a good unit, but they cant, because if they do that, then other characters become even more useless, tankyei will be completely and utterly useless, thoma who's a new character, would be absolute trash, like, even at c6 he is pretty much the worst shielder in the game, diona while still a decent healers, she becomes less relevant if she cant use her shield, cause now what, do you build her for dps? no, cause she sucks with the support, noelle, she doesnt need the shield if she is c6, but without it, she loses a lot of comfy play, which is the only reason to even consider playing her, then we have regular geo crystal shields, if they nerf that, then geo as a support element dies, period, all that geo can be uses for at that point is the resonance, and why would you want that, if you can run 2 pyro, which does the same, and the only reason to run 2 geo characters outside of mono geo, is because zhongli exist.
What mihoyo is setting themselves up to is for the massive backslash, because zhongli rerun is up right now, if they introduce an enemy that shits on him, people is gonna call for nerfs, just like it happen with the ronins in inazuma, because those fuckers couldnt be suck in with venti, so venti became irrelevant for most of inazuma until they reduce their weight, this is mihoyo just shooting themselves in the foot, what they should do is simply allow the game to be played and stop introducing enemies design to kill playstyles, cause nobody wants to get CUMkomi, she sucks, and healing is overrated.
I’ve dreamed that crystallized shield are not affected by the husk enemies. Albedo is a pretty sufficient shielder now. Crystallized might offer really weak shields but, it still offers super armor.
Besides zhongli is there any other shielder that is exceptionally good? Because res shred combined with high hp is for me the only reason why his shield is good. If it's only shield I bet it wouldn't be THAT good. zhongli will stay relevant forever probably because of the res shred + shield at the minimum.

That's going to be a problem especially for new people who just pulled for Zhongli. MiHoYo needs to be careful with nerfing or power-creeping characters otherwise this game will start declining before the story is even finished.

as long as u can dodge u r fine … most youtuber seem unable to dodge as i see all of them crying … there is no problem if u would like to switch off zhongli i certain areas but PLEASE dont cry that loud … shield chars are totally fine and viable …

I think the new enemies look kind of slow and telegraphed with their attacks from what I see in the leaks, so probably don't need a shield for them anyway. Pretty balanced imo, shields will still be good against other enemies, but they shouldn't be your only option for the entire game.
the issue with shields.. in particular zhonglis shield only. is mihoyo cant directly nerf him.. or else the entire chinese playerbase will throw a fit. so they are indirectly nerfing shields. as a whole.. which actually makes some characters worse noelle any of the elemental shields u get from geo
keep in mind they also nerfed the shit outta the husked from the beta they used to be faster and they even used to get enraged when you used a shield and would whale on your like ungaboonga like itto and diluc ect and could even break your shields i think but ether way they were way worse in beta like you dont wanna know… lol
Fun fact: Xingqiu's skill is not counted as a shield for all I know, it just lowers damage taken and also heals you when one of his rain swords is destroyed. We shall beat these husks at their game with their own mechanics lol
i dont think shields are dead but they are alot less useful now which is both a good thing and a bad thing because it kinda balances out the game making healers like kokomi more viable which is a good thing but just the wrong way of going about it like forcing players to use healers is wrong but at this point what else are they supposed to do?…
I don't get Mihoyo. This method just kills entire characters. They should just add enemies that weaken shields, so it just forces you to build better quality shielders or if the player wants to, replace them. Like the debuff we saw in one of the events, that weakens shield strength by 50%. That would allow shielders to exist, but forces you to actually build them well or dodge more often.
Instead of invincibility they should replace shield as immunity. Blocking negative and hazardous damage instead of direct attacks.
Shields right now are a mess you have shield like zhongli who makes you a literal god but you also have your standards sheilds which btw all provided by 4* units. This is a complete imbalance as all these new B's mechanic against shield are meant to counter zhongli's powerful shield. But what about the rest? Noelle xinyan, diona kaeya and beidou? This anti shield mechanic literally suppressed what those characters can do most of the time.
And this all because of freaking Kokomi. Noticed that all of these anti shield enemies are all from Inazuma? It's so that they can give Kokomi a value. Especially with her broken ass artifact which lets her deal 30k damage per 3 second. No other artifact can provide you with that much damage under normal circumstances. Heck even my Lv 50 Barbara could deal 20k damage from that artifact and a whooping 30k on her ult a damage my Barbara could only dreamed of and yet here we are and it's all because of a poorly designed character that the game literally needs to adjust itself to make them relevant.
Shields are fine. Zhongli with millelith or geo 4pc set combined with innate resistance shred on his shield is probably the near universal crutch mihoyo has created and now has to balance. Hopium that they can find a way without returning us to release zhongli state on top of making other shields useless.

I'd like to talk about how mhy doesn't give a shit about the casual player or game balance mhy only cares about one thing and that's money if they cared about game balance they would be doing constant buff/nerfs to characters to keep an even playing field and they wouldn't be consistently power creeping every new enemy, weapon and character they add every design choice is made to make people want to pull for 5* characters and weapons, old characters are falling off while every new character counters whatever new bs they add to enemies mhy's design philosophy is oh your old characters aren't so good any more well hey give us some money and you can have the new hotness we'll even make floor 12 abyss specifically designed to make that character do good

I do like the idea of the husks. Enemies that punish you for having shields, but also being "very" slow with their attacks and therefore easily telegraphed so that you might not even need to use shields and just dodge, is an interesting concept to me.
It's almost like the game is telling you "If you're nothing without that shield, you shouldn't use it. If you're at the point where you need shields against THESE enemies, I dunno what else to tell you."
However some characters will have unavoidable problems with these husks, such as Beidou, who pretty much can no longer do full counters with her skill, since it's considered a shield, or Yun Jin with her skill. At least Xingqiu's swords are not considered shields, so you can still use him.
I've had Zhongli for a year now, and i'm so glad that they intoduced the wolfs. It makes the game much more fun since i can actually bench Zhongli and use some healers like Qiqi, Kokomi and Barbara without feeling like im wasting a OP unit.
Shield's only reducing damage taken and immunity to interruption is already insane. I don't know why they made them tank all the damage for you. The only good shields in the game were Diona and Zhongli's, like why would they even nerf shields this way; making new mechanics (Husk enemy) to solve a simple issue is pretty inefficient.

Every enemy after this is gonna shit on shielders, so every character that produces shields already has their value decreased because of these new enemies, unless they do something weird or creative with shields.

Mihoyo should kill abyss mage shields instead like the hydro, electro, and pyro. Should nerf their element resistance, before there shield breaks
I'm not sad that zhonglis getting nerfed but like every other character even ones with constilation shields too. ): Also geo resonance in general is getting nerfed in a way too. Overall I guess it's not too bad as long as these guys don't tp away like the dogs
Now they want to kill shields, then they will make shields viable again when there is a new shield char or there is a Zhongli rerun… I just wish they stop making annoying mechanics: teleporting, invulnerable phase bosses, animations where gameplay basically stops, etc…

Bro, the Husks are hilarious. They used to recover 50% health within 2-3 seconds of striking a shielded unit. This is basically what happened to them next:

Corrosion is alright since it stops at 15% and Zhongli’s shield is up again before it even comes close to expiring/breaking. But if they ever pull some bitch shit like allowing even a single fucking ability to kill you through shields then I will email the CCP, no cap.

So why is it that the once powerful and highly respected in-game representative of China/Liyue, Zhongli, has been reduced to a sick and powerless man of China, simply kowtowing to the lesser leaders from the new regions/nations? the only challenging aspect of the game is only hard due to having time-limits, shields don't help you that much there i don't see how it's such a big issue that they have to go so hard to stop zhongli
