  1. My theory is that magic/elementle tech isn't that hard to make and that the true limiting factor is getting/using a magic source. So when a civilization get something like a magic reactor they go ham. Which is why in the modern day the only ones using magic teck are vision users who make there use there own energy and Fontain, which has a (practically) unlimited energy source available to them

  2. I hate the motorcycle, however, in human history those who have better fuel tend to have more advanced technology. Phlogiston is a more potent fuel than the Oratrice Mechanic Denalise Cardinal and that made Fontaine the pinnacle of technogical advancement in Teyvat.

  3. I put this in a reply but i think i should make more people see this bc its so frustrating seeing the argument of ‘i mean its old dragon tech and khaenriah is techy too’

People are upset about it because of the aesthetic not the actual items. Sumeru and fontaine were fine because fontaine is steampunk and has been hyper up as ‘the techy nation’ since 1.0, and steampunk already has an established role visually in traditional fantasy genres, and sumeru was very elf magic-y. Nahida magic LOOKs like a magical projection and dendro is already kind of the light/techy element so its pre established as well.

Khaenriah and king deshret stuff falls under the same catagory as the dwemer from elder scrolls aka Long Lost Civilisation that has Tech We Dont Understand, and generally follows the aesthetic of that.

We had absolutely non of this for natlan. No one came out of natlan like ‘woah theres this sick ass tech sometimes’ all we knew was ‘nation of war’ and ‘woah dragons’ from neuvillette lol.

The justification for natlan stuff is just “xilonen made it lol” and “phlogiston lol” and they made pretty much 0 effort to actuallt design it in a way that fits the world of genshin aesthetically. Mavuikas motorbike looks like something from cyberpunk 2077 lol, and xilonens dj set looks so modern in comparison to the npc dj set at the children of echos. Kinich has a ben 10 watch lmfao (but thats at least partially explained by Ajaw himself since he is literally the spirit of a dragon from that time or something.)

Its like watching an elf from LOTR pull out an iphone 15 and being like “its magic lol” without making an effort to make it LOOK magical, its just an iphone 15 lol. Zelda is a good example of tech implemented in a non anachronistic way, specifically with a motorbike lol.

Its fine to like the break in genre, and its fine to break genre in general, but it was done so sloppy and was so uncreative on genshins part that i think the people who find it anachronistic are completely within their rights to dislike it.

  4. For those who don't know: The reason why Mavuika has a bike is because of her being based on a Maori god, at New Zealand theres alot of biker gangs which is why she has a bike. (Or they just needed a random nightsoul.)

  5. Remember also that witches come from Natlan (The Little Witch and the Undying Flame), and they can both look beyond the fake sky and into Earth (Alice teaching Barbara about idols, Alice bringing Mcdonalds and KFC for example) and they live for a very very long time. Dragon power source with "live with the natural elements of the original world" tech plus witches influencing Natlanese culture by living for a long time and bringing a bunch of stuff from Earth over the ages = Natlan being more modern yet also very superstitious while also co existing with saurians (Mualani's voicelines about luck, Masters of the Night Wind thinking Citlali is a Witch, Barbeloth and Alice LITERALLY hexenzircle coven members dripmarketing Mavuika).
