I really hope this mono-teams trend won't last too much. I wan't to play my favorite characters with other favorite characters and not be restricted in a single team. That's why I got bored of Ayaka. I mean there are alternatives, yes, but her premium just do so much damage that using weaker alternatives won't incentivise in using them. That's why I like Ayato more than Ayaka because I can use any units I want with him except maybe other DPS. That's why I will never pull for Itto despite me being an Inazuma collector (Has all of them already but him). I don't want to be stuck using Gorou Zhongli and Alebdo forever. I'd prefer using the characters I want rather than deal huge damage. At the end pf the day, the enemies will still die and I had fun defeating them because I used characters that I liked. Tho I guess I'll still try Lyney because bros gorgeous. I just won't be using Xiangling. She's awful to play outside Rational because Raiden alleviates her energy needs. But I really hope we don't get mono-comps for the entirety of Fontaine because that would be bland.
Ima be honest idk if the new set will be good with him at all. The crit rate buff is very short and is just a 30% crit rate buff which isn’t very necessary if you have good stats. I think lavawalker will be just as good but probably better.

i have developed a hate for single target DPS characters over the past few years
still lyney looks fun to play in a team that uses bennet but not XQ which is rather interesting cuz you can just play XQ on the other half
personally i think against bosses or stuff that taunt doesn't work well in i think replacing zhongli with kazuha instead of XL is better

I noticed something from the demo of Lyney; when he hits a charged shot on the fatui, he started backing off from the radius of the blast from the doll after getting interrupted (the explosion barely hit him). So would this cause DPS loss given the delay of the dolls exploding, because some of the enemies jumps or step back faster after getting interrupted.
I dont know bout Lyney i must wait until released, MHY burn the bridge of trust back then by releasing Dehya as an limited banner. they must know how bad she is and they can just quietly slide it into standard banner but nah, they still want to milk it and they have all the resource to alter the whole experience
Hard skip. They tried to use Lyney mono pyro encouraging passive to make him competitive with Childe in a team with 3 of the most highly sought after supports in the game. If you get sig weapon, constellations, godly artifacts, etc he will probably be strong, otherwise he will be overwhelmingly mid. Pull him if you like him but from meta perspective, skip and just keep playing Childe international.
since I have a lot of teams that like to use Kazuha, what would be the difference between putting in Yanfei (who has her C4) with thrilling tales compared to an anemo unit using VV? I have not built Yanfei yet but if it is not a huge damage difference I will build her. (I know her shield can provide resistance to interruption but I am asking purely from a damage potential standpoint). I don't know how much of an extra bonus Lyney would get with 4 pyros with TTDS buff compare 3 pyros and an anemo with VV.

I think my the main draw for me is that Childe international already exists, and they are identical. Even if Lyney mono-pyro would outdamage that team which lord knows it won't, Childe can also run in Hyperbloom and Bloom teams as well as Freeze and Electro-charged teams to some extent. Lyney is tied down to mono-pyro and only mono-pyro.
Great video as usual. But I’m honestly surprised you didn’t mention thoma, since lyney relies so much on having pyro units in his team, I think thoma could be a great alternative to zhongli, as much as I love the pillar man shred, having an additional 20% pyro buff could prove to be equal if not better than the shred. It would also help with particle generation and pyro application. You’d still have to lose either your VV Support or Xianling, but at least you’d keep the passive’s buff high. Or am I missing something?

I have no qualms over mono teams or restrictive teams. I love Nilou bloom and mono geo.
However, I hope lyney is more like Nilou, buffing everyone instead of just himself. Otherwise, I don't need him to build a viable mono-pyro team in the abyss. It doesn't help that I have Yoimiya as well. At this point I'm looking for a unit centered around burning, burgeon, shatter, and electro-charge.
Looks like I'll be waiting for Focalore, Nouvillette, and that guy who's name is difficult to spell and pronounce.

If lyney werent a bow charged attack character and maybe a catalyst character instead for example I wouldve consided getting him, getting staggered out of a charge attack sucks (I would know, I use to play ganyu melt without a shield) and having to use zhongli instead to negate that sucks cause now you lose both dmg and cc from kazuha, if he was any other weapon type at least canceling out of the charge attack isnt a big deal cause it doesnt take ao long to do so.
