Star Rail makes me think of the beginning of Genshin Impact and how much fun that was and honestly still is. So why not look back on what Genshin has been like for myself over the last almost 3 years.

I still like it. Fight me. Steak still sucks.
DUnno when I made my account and started to tutorial, but I got my proper start in 2.8, with the Golden Archipelago. First five-star was Kazuha, and Zhongli not long after. Gracious, what a rush starting out.
"I enjoy both ways."
Yeah. Yeah…
1.0 started player here ☺️ Still playing every day 💪
Same lol. Honestly the people who enjoy Genshin to this day are those who understand and are completely happy with the fact that the game is casual.
I think really, the only source of negativity within the community are those who are disatisfied with the game because they can't play the game for more than 8 hours a day (for streaming or whatever reason). People like Mtashed and Tectone.
Something that always striked me was how much the genshin contents creators and most likely the fandom was so self aware. I came around Inazuma (just after the 1 archipelago event) and I already saw a lot of « why genshin is bad » « how to not burn out from genshin » « how to maximize your farming » « ew genshin fans ». After more than 2 years now I think I’m starting to understand, that game attracted so many different people at the same time that do not want the same thing at all with the game. Some people are like you say coming from mmo and want something more around the combat and the grind. Other are more casuals or from Animal Crossing and want to appreciate the routine but doesn’t want to hear anything about artifacts. Fans from anime and mangas circle here for the fanarts, the characters, the story. And fans from open world games who wants exploration. So many different types of people all mad that the game isn’t fully what they expected it to be. Not a gamer here but yeah I did all the phases only for the story > only for the grind > only the exploration > only for the lore. And now I can see that Genshin wouldn’t be that wonderful game if it wasn’t all of these, I mean good story, good chara, good combat system, addictive grind, good exploration, good music, good lore and world building… Yeah I started HSR, but now I just can see how much I love these two games. Honkai will never have Zhongli but Genshin would never have Clara !
I started playing genshin back in 1.0, but I started playing genshin when Sumeru came out. Haven't skipped a day since 3.0. sometimes i only log for dailies and some farming.. sometimes i go complete world quests. I haven't really maxed any reputation other than Inazuma's (kinda random ik lol) so i also do those. Heck, Im not even done with the hangouts! I have tons of stuff to still do every day so yea.. i been entertained so far 🙂
My problem with Genshin is that it is really frustrating to farm artifacts in the beginning, and now my account is 3 years old and I have 4 teams really invested that I can beat the spiral abyss every time, legit don't know where to spend my resin and I wish the game had a proper end game
Played at launch, left and came back multiple times. Burn out was mostly due to lack of content and/or lack of tangible progression.
Farming artifacts for weeks and not getting anything worthwhile is soul crushing even if it is a side game.
As a 1.0 Genshin player, I absolutely love the game. Fk the haters, I'm never gonna quit Genshin, not until it finishes the story ATLEAST
3 years of this bull shit and still no good artifacts
I can't believe I found someone who has the same opinion about Genshin as I am. I started playing it a week after its first release and I'm still playing it, never missed a commission. I am playing Star Rail but honestly, I'm not enjoying it as much as in Genshin though. I just love the open-world aspect of it and this is why it's a suitable and perfect game for myself. It's not a stressful game and I can take my time doing whatever I want, walk around places, and appreciate how beautiful it is.
i got into game thnks to shenpai
Scaramouche is making me stay.
for me the best thinkg in genshin is exploring new areas without stressing out about missing something and listening to banger music
totally relate to this tbh. i really do feel like people who are complaining about genshin being bad now that hsr is released are maybe just burnt out.
genshin has so much to do and it puts a lot of focus on the adventure aspect as it does on the combat and that is what makes it so special to me. being able to play it conveniently whether it be 5 mins or 5 hours is a blessing. i can decide what i wanna do each day, maybe i can just log in, cook some food and explore some and log off. that feels perfectly fine just as clearing abyss does.
combat not being the only point of the game and the fact i can just leisurely walk around some days, take in the environments and the beautiful scenery if i want to makes it all very relaxing for me. sure it has it's problems but overall, i genuinely do still like it a lot.
As someone who prefers genshin to star rail, i'm glad to see this take!
Genshin is a godly game, if you complain about it you're the problem
I agree, more effort was put into Sumeru. However, these are non-replayable maps, and only consume a lot of disk space. Like for example, if you are done with the puzzle in a specific area, that's it. You won't return there unless a boss will be placed there (or any farmable material).
That's why Mondstadt and Liyue areas are better. Not because of nostalgia, but because landmarks/significant locations are compressed to each other. In every area, there is something to see or appreciate.
Underground chasm is a good design too. It has verticality on it, but you won't feel lost compared to Sumeru's desert areas. Where entry points can be tricky if it is your first time traveling to it.
Genshin is just like destiny and destiny 2: Game good when content, game bad when no content. The never ending cycle
Honestly, I don’t really like star rail, the gameplay is one that I’m not used to, but have been introduced to before, I don’t really like the gameplay to be honest, maybe I’m just all to used to Genshin but, it just feels, different, plus the game itself has designs I don’t really like, I like simple normal designs, I can see star rail being a fun game, just not for me
8:24 NAHH I WASNT EVEN LISTENING TO WHAT HE WAS SAYING AT THIS PART CUZ I WAS TOO BUSY LAUGHING MY HEAD OFF
I started in the launch date and I still play it everyday and absolutely love it
