I think a good TL;DR of this is: Both me and Rathiel have points many disagree with, which is normal and fine, powercreep by certain definitions IS a thing but this definition was not it in my opinion, I don't feel any character completely "invalidates" older characters, you can still use them and get on just fine. Even if it may exist by other definitions it's just not a problem imo when you can still use 1.0 characters and clear all content. More investment on older characters than newer characters is a thing, Kazu is still not DIRECTLY powercrept by Xilonen and people fighting that point to the grave will always confuse me when they both do very different things alongside the main "shred" they offer lol
Also to the point of "Characters strong in lore should be strong", I more-so mean it makes SENSE for characters that are strong in lore to be strong gameplay wise. Not that it SHOULD always be a thing. Think about it logically for a second, does it make sense that a literal Sovreign would be stronger than a head of an Inazuman clan? Of course it does, does it mean every character should follow that logic? Not necessarily, but to say it doesn't make sense is very illogical imo
Genshin doesn't have powercreep
in fact, new characters value and give space to old ones 90% of the time
Furina valued all party wide healers
Xianyun created a new way of playing and made Diluc rise in usage again
Dendro made electro characters gain a space in the "meta"
new artifacts improved old character kits
Do you want to see Powercreep for real? look at Honkai impact, when part 2 was released all 70+ characters from part 1 became obsolete
the biggest problem in this game is treating Dehya as a DPS when in fact she is a tank
and look at her now fitting perfectly into the teams of burning, burgeon, Lyney, Mualani, Kinich
ok but answer me really quickly
Neuvillette powercreep what? a reverse vape DPS like Mualani? Is he a healer like Barbara, Kokomi and Sigewinne? a buffer like Candace and Furina? a subDPS like Xingqiu and Yelan? a driver like Childe and Ayato? What is he really powercreep? damage? is that all?
The thing is
There are charecters that are strong as hell without proper build investment
My Yanfei, Navia, Rosaria, Xangling
I don't care about meta
I never spend much time on stupid artifacts with only 200 resin, total waste of time
And they're strong as hell even tho my artifacts are so damn random
Like, Yanfei was on the green charecter guide bar when she was level 60 and my main team was level 80 already and i just gave her random artifacts with random stats
Same with the others
For people that have all the charecters but only a specific team
Can you really say the same if you ever try to build other charecters?
Is not only "yes, you can"
Is actually doing it
Cuz i was the type of leveling everyone on other games
In Genshin is just a waste of time if you don't have specific charecters and/or constelations
Kazuha can crowd control…. That's my main reason to use him tf
22:11 xilonen can reduce elemental enemy resistance unlike kazuha
Powercreep is real in genshin and i dont care what people say. The damage multiplier is high for new characters. I will tell u what i have notice so far…. Once i tried hu tao C0 in one of my friend's account ( build : CD-222, CR-65; primodial jade spear) and i got like 53k per normal atk and 75k for charged atk. Then i tried another friend's account with Arlechinno C0 (Build : CD :173, CR: 67, white tessal) and got like 89k per normal atk. And the worse part is hutao is triple crowned and my other friend's arlechinno is just lvl 8 on all skills and her artifact isnt even arlechinno's, he used shimenawa for her…💀💀
Idk if Genshin has a problem with power creep to being with, so far I've been wishing for my fav characters and we ball, don't even need over powerful characters cuz I'm not a cc or make big pp numbers showcase videos and shid, the real problem in Genshin it's the re runs!, in the other hand with HSR I can't even enjoy my freshly pulled characters because next patch they're useless 😢
Pretty good video honestly.
But I disagree with Bran where he said that lore should affect their in game power.
A lot of characters in game are just like normal people with normal jobs. They have no special combat training, no special lineage, the only combat perk they have is a vision.
Having lore power correlate to playing power would mean that these sorts of characters would effectively be useless, and we’d have a meta revolving around archons solely.
And that would really suck for people who enjoy those characters and want to play them. Which I think is one of the strengths of the game honestly.
If I wanna play QQ in HSR, I need 3 specific characters to go along with her. And most 4 stars are unusable too.
But if I wanna play say Yanfei, she works great with XQ and Bennet. If i want to play Diona, slap her on a melt team.
Nearly every character is viable in some way or the other, and that allows for a lot of freedom. Taking that away for the sake of lore accuracy would make the game not fun.
Just get the character you love
I'm SO confused by the video we're reacting to, like first half of the video was… alright, but the second half (when Neuvillette comes in) is just wrong takes after wrong takes :
-Neuvillette being limited to a few characters/having Furina ? I mean sure Neuvillette hits his best damages with his perfect team, which has furina, but thats like everycharacter and their best teams, Neuvillette can be played, clear content and all with any character that is off field as long as it gives him reactions (Fischl, Nahida, Raiden, heck even Dehya is a decent option with him)
-Arlecchino having more options than neuvi is not true, IMO, Neuvi's team are various, you can go "Mono"Hydro, hyperbloom, hyperbloom with a bit of pyro, vape with complicated setups if you like that, freeze, and so on these are not his BEST teams but they'll work just fine, just like Arlecchino can go Vape, Melt, Mono, Overload (and i guess burning). At best they both have various teams.
-The "Mualani is not as good as Neuvillette" take is one that is not as bad as the others, but it is open for debate. Sure, Mualani slaps, A LOT, denying that is wrong, but the problem with her is "Overkill", she does a lot of damage, more than ennemies can take, but on one target, some can even be wasted (hitting 300k is cool but what's the point if the ennemies only has 250k HP) but anyway, my point is that they're not comparable (neuvi and mualani) 'cuz they don't do the same thing, we're comparing consistent AoE damages to One big damage on single target (mostly, sure Mua can hit others ennemies with one of her passives but come on that's not as good as other AoE of the game)
-Kazuha's take is ofc dreadful, everyone talked about it so we all know already, yeah they don't do the same thing at all, at best they have the same buffs/debuffs and even then it's not the same numbers.
Xilo brings heal, a buff that is carried through waves of ennemies
Kazu brings grouping, and allows to buff two elements in one setup (Xilo can too but it's not as easy as a double swirl).
-Navia wasn't a "powerspike" without Xilonen? Really now? That's straight up false, she slapped already before, she was already able to deals ton of damages with Zhongli, Chiori, or even Geo MC lmao. Sure, Xilo made Navia's damage sky rocket, but she was already a pretty damn strong unit before.
To me it feels like a lot of people don't even know what powercreep is. Like you said, first five stars can still clear abyss, sure they need help, better supports/artifacts, but they still have a way to be played (They even managed to make Qiqi move from "horrible" to "meh with Furina, like that's huge.), that's not common for a LOT of games with the same lifespan Genshin have.
tl;dr : i yapped
If anyone's reading this :
Wish you a great day/night and i hope my english isn't too flawed (not being my mother tongue and all)
<3
random question, is Bran not playing hsr anymore? I haven't watched him in some time so I'm wondering
The best thing about this game is that there are so many characters who do so many diferrent things in different elements that a new character or element (as we seen w dendro) being released can bring back different suports or make the older dps do more damage. We also have knew artifacts that might give u a better kit to put on a character and make a whole other build for them
IF I GET CHASCA ON MY NEXT SINGLE PULL I WILL SUBSCRIBE TO YOU
22:00 i also believe that, i feel like zhongli is being powercrept cause he have res shred kazuha don't, idk what people saying i use kazuha and xilonen together
Edit: thats her weapon that powercrept kazuha not her
Real
Power creep is real and it’s shown through how enemies HP pools and res have gotten inflated to compensate for the strength of new characters. Older characters can still be used but primarily through the addition of new sets and teams brought by new supports; which kinda furthers the point that older characters are weaker by comparison.
Genshin’s power creep is real. Is just done in a way that doesn’t completely leave older units behind outright.
I mean that's the whole reason why I haven't gotten Kazuha yet. I like his character and he is very very meta good, however all of his banners are right next to characters that I want more than him so I have to skip him.
I mean… I can't tell but their kits are similar but xilonen makes exploration, but its only in natlan, so of your not in natlan, Kazuha's more useful but its on you, just my opinion as a kazuha main😅
Navia didn’t power creep Itto because they are not filling the same role. Itto is an on-field mono-geo dps, and Navia is a swap dps whose element barely factors into anything. I’d say Alhaitham and Cyno have more in common than them because they can both be on-field dps of spread/aggravate comps. Think about their team comps. Navia can’t be played in mono-gro nor utilize Gorou because she’s a burst dps not an attack-spam dps, meaning she can’t utilize Yelan, etc. I mean duh, you’re comfortable comparing Xilonen and Kazuha, so stop looking at weapon + element as the only important traits.
36 stars with klee vs arlechino…. yeah there's no powercreep 😔 🥸
Hi BranOnline, i might be a lil late with this comment but id like to have a chat with u about how strong the characters are in genshin, like we could improve eachothers thoughts about the characters in genshin. If u see this comment, thx for your time, keep up the great videos👍
I know it's an opinion, but when you do an analysis on certain units, you need to mention other viable builds they have, cause versatility is important in a lot of them.
And I have a question, why nobody talks about Xilonen in geo teams and builds, she does a decent amount of damage and yeah, you'll need another healer, but everytime people talk about her is as if she has no other mechanics
Guys im literally still using the same team since day 1, Anemo Lumine, Doluc, xingqiu (however the name is written) and barbara, and till this day never faced a stage when i though (oh gotta use someone new cuz diluc no longer can kill boss or whatever, can deal 23k DMg on diluc with a normal Pyro DMG,and 60k with a vaporizer reaction, and that without buffers like bennet or Furina or any other buffer. To put it simple, ya everyone can still use all the characters, woth the difference is only in how fast you can beat the boss, thats all
I still prefer old characters cuz I simply love them more lmao
got ayaka during her first banner, and never stopped using her since
They are adding crazy amount of HP to bosses so there is already power creep
22:20 yikes ..In one breath you say there isnt many enemies in the abyss/theater at once, in the other you says kazhua isn’t power creypt because xilonen doesn’t group 😂 foh ..
I dont even think its the characters powercreeping at all, its Hoyo changing mechanics.
Like when Kazuha came out they took away the suckablity of Inazuma enemies to make ppl get Kazuha and not use Venti
For all the cryo character they fucked them over by making Dendro not react to them, and not buffing any of the cryo reactions that where popular/good (yes ik super conduct and shatter got a buff but thos where never as popular as freeze, melt, and reverse melt). Along with the fact that cryo 5* and even 4* havent rerun in about 1 to 2 years.
All this "powercreep" or "not meta any more" was more on hoyo trying to push them out when in reality fans love them and still wanna use them
Yea power creep in Genshin so far isn't bad at all compared to some other games. I've been playing since launch and never pulled Kazuha or Zhongli because i already use Venti who did fine with crowd control and i use 4* shielders or good healers so Zhongli wasn't needed in my opinion. Lol one of my main DPS is still my Keqing i pulled 4 years ago.
I feel like Meta doesn’t really exist to be honest. I still use Venti even though he's not considered great anymore
I mean, kazu is for trash chambers and xilonen for boss…
If you say he has grouping she has healing.
And the more ungroupable enemies are introduced, more this separate element of his will loose value (see freeze) while xilonen never will unless it becomes shieldgenshin meta or genshin starts to introduce enemies that nerf or stop healing on you
I mean, he will still be buffer but his buffs have a bit of a short duration for some onfielders
My stance on power creep is the price point. If old, power crept characters are going to remain the same cost as the new shiny characters, then we have a problem. Either reduce the cost of old five stars or give them some buffs so they can keep up even if they aren't doing as well as the new characters.
Idk tbh, I have never personally struggled with the content the game offer to feel some form of powercreep. Certain characters offer better QoL of course, but even 1.x characters are still relevant enough that you can do 95% of the game's content with them. Even the most extreme combat events are doable with these older characters. The game is easy enough and you get a lot of tools to play around with characters outside of their intended kits.
Every kind of video like that is not really 100% people gonna agree with. Because at the end of the day, it is their own opinion and everyone has their own. I get it. But… when they say this is better/good than that, it mostly because they play with that character or their favourite characters a lot compared to the other. And they might not even have that character or use them a lot or didn't use at all then have the audacity to said it was bad. Plus, there are a lot of factors that need to be considered when those people in that video are doing comparisons. How does this character perform in solo enemy/boss or group of enemies or bosses? Did the character be good in a short duration fight or a long duration fight? Did they need cons or/and sig. weapon to be good? Or C0R0 already good? Did they good at dealing damage consistently or nuke damage? Then their kit like what they can/can't do and the team comp., do they need 5*/4* unit or specific unit in the team only to be good? Or are they already good on their own? and by adding other characters makes them even better? Then we can compare regarding their gamplay, whether they're easy/hard to use. And lastly the aesthetic stuff if you wanna talk about it. That's the kind of comparison people should make if they want to be fair and get technical. Not because of the character favoritism/design/lore. Period.
A few things
1. Cyno with no upgrades or Nahida is comparable to Keqing but harder to play, and most people already have Keqing.
2. I 100% agree that Mualani's power is being underestimated here
3. Xilonen's damage bonus buff lasts longer than Kazuha. Xilonen's shred lasts longer than Kazuha, and requires zero effort. Xilonen's healing is high and fast. Xilonen's exploration capability is drastically better. The usefulness of grouping diminishes greatly with a willingness to learn positioning and enemy patterns, and is utterly useless against bosses and many enemies. Kazuha is still amazing, but Xilonen will outshine him in more teams than you think if they're competing for a slot.
4. Yelan does not do more damage than XQ unless she is paired with him, as he has built-in hydro shred that she takes advantage of (C0 to C6 comparison).
5. I think your statement that powercreep should be defined as an inability to clear current content with 1.0 units is very fair, but doing so is incredibly difficult. However, there is something to be said about characters like Klee and Albedo who are Limited 5* characters that are completely outshined by newer counterparts or were never good to begin with.
Me not caring because Arlecchino is the worst character imo because I hate her lol
Xilonen didnt powercreep kazuha imo, at c0 theyre sidegrades but xilonen is usually prefered because of her qol bonuses from being a newer character
Xilonen gives a longer buff uptime as well as heals and free res shred even if u don't manage to crystallise, and its multiwave friendly
However, kazuha can still give similar buffs but requires more building than her, but also has grouping, decent off field dmg in some teams, elemental reapplication and its easier to double swirl than double crystalise
1) I agree that powercreep is an 'issue' Just a minor one. It is a thing, just not too bad, yet. Neuvi has been the most problematic unit so far, doesn't help that he's the only one in the game that has perfect synergy with the top 3 supports in the game (Best team being Furina/Xilonen/Kazua), No other DPS gets to reliably use all 3 like that, with his level of synergy.
2) 1:12 Yes and no. As far as overworld goes, play whoever you want, it really doesn't matter. In Abyss and really hard combat events, It's hard for me to ever justify using Yoimiya over Arlecchino as an example. Yoimiya already has the problem of being terrible in groups, whereas her specialty is single target/bosses. The problem is even against bosses, her strength, Arlecchino is just better. Hell, I think even C6 Gaming is better at this point.
3) 1:35 Fully disagree. There are plenty of creative ways to add new characters that bringing something new to the table, without making other units irrelevant or replacing them fully. Furina was a perfect example of this. Furina is objectively the best off-fielder in the game, however Xiingqiu, Yelan and Kokomi are still all great in their own ways. Not to mention what Furina, and other's as well like Xianyun did, was make a lot of older/weaker/niche characters BETTER, like healers and plungers, just as an example. Making new characters simply "X but better" is just bad and lazy game design. Hoyo can, have, and should do better. Also Deyha isn't a good example because her kit was just crap, People would have been fine had it just been on-par with existing DPS's (Or even better made her a dedicated support, not the weird hybrid she is now), she didn't need to powercreep Hu Tao.
4) 7:10 I mean he's not wrong. I say this as a former Ayaka main, who was the best out of that group. She was great but nothing game changing. None of those characters were power creeping anyway, you'd be lucky if they were even considered meta. His take wasn't bad here, unfortunately yours was. Again, most of these characters were not bad, just well balanced at best.
5) 13:55 Obviously he's talking about on-field DPS. Which, obviously play however you want, but if we are talking about the most efficient way to build teams, any more than 1 on-field DPS is almost always throwing. Which is fine if you're playing overworld or just don't care, but if you're trying to have the most efficient team, like Abyss for example, more than one on fielder is essentially and objectively a waste of a slot. They're called on-fielders for a reason, and you can only have one at a time. Genshin is not a game that "supports" double DPS comps because the whole game is based off reactions and such. If your other DPS isn't doing anything like buffing or applying elements from off the field, then they're not supporting or helping you in anyway.
6) 17:45 Real
7) 20:40 I don't think he was being literal, lmao. Simply Neuvi is still miles ahead of Mualani in terms of AoE content. Whereas in somecases, Maulani might barely pull ahead of Neuvi in single target, but not by much. Which is why ontop of everything else Neuvi has going for him, I'd still say he's still clear #1 DPS overall.
8) 22:00 Agree with you here. (Although Disagree with Kazuha being better in "most" situations) Xilonen is at best a minor upgrade to Kazuha, usually a side-grade or alternative. Both have similar kits, you're just looking at whether you prefer grouping & some personal damage vs Longer buff uptime, healing, a 5th element (Geo) & Ease of use. Or in some situations, using both at once.
Finally I would also like to agree with the idea that characters like Archon, dragon soveriegns, Harbingers and anyone else important/strong in lore should be among the best in the game. Not saying they would be powercreep anyone, but they should have very useful kits and should never be powercrept themselves imo. (It's why I always say Venti should be buffed)
C0 Cyno is horrible. The author of the video probably was talking about C0.
yea no, powercreep basically just doesn't exist in genshin
Tighnari is just a lot easier to build to a Good level.
Cyno just … Scales on everything.
Er, Em, Atk, CR, CD.
It's a pain, of course people had mid results since most had terrible builds.
The thing about Kazuha is that his advantage on Xilonen is his grouping … Which is useless in mono-target. Which represents most of the abyss nowadays.
You guys justify that Venti fell because his grouping isn't cutting it anymore but … Kazuha's grouping isn't always relevant either. And when it's not, Xilonen is just better.
I think Navia isn't a Itto powercreep because they don't play in the same situation at all.
Itto plays in mono-Geo but Navia is the opposite. She just doesn't work in mono-Geo.
It's like calling Mualani a Nilou powercreep because "her team does more damage".
But it's not the same team archetype at all.
Super disingenuous of the guy to say Kazuha has been power crept. you get two kazuha now with slightly different advantages over the other.
The real power creep is the new artifact sets, they are ridiculously broken for Natlan characters
Effortless content 😂
I can still hus Hu tao from 1.3 in genshin and we are in ver 5.2, I cant even use seele since 1.6 in star rail
Ehhhh…. They both do the same thing
I don't see where the powercreep is
