Sorry for bringing a negative video on this channel, but just wanted to share my thoughts on it since new endgame is such a monumental point for genshin. For anyone who is enjoying it, if you disagree with me then don't let this negatively impact you its ok.
I like that they restrict us to specific elements, I also like how we can't play our best teams and have us try other characters and teams. I don't need to play optimal abyss teams. I would love it if a new mode gave more emphasis on beidou, yanfei, thoma. Or make us think about combat completely differently
For example, Star Rail's pure fiction gave an emphasis on aoe and follow up characters. simulated universe swarm made us focus on survivability first then dps.
But Imaginarium Theater has no such tactics. It ultimately devolves into having enough characters to actually qualify, then just bruteforcing with scuffed teams that just feel bad or stupid to play. and ultimately, the combat itself was just like abyss, it wasn't different. the only difference was some small unnoticeable buffs and using nonesensical teams. it didnt really change anything aside from newer players needing to pull and build more characters. but for what, just to fill up the 4 man team requirement? the hardest part is just getting to participate at all.
And I've seen some people say it rewards accounts which horizontally invested to build multiple charactters, but I think I disagree; I thought that but it doesn't really. Ultimately most teams we will play are scuffed and random so vertically invested players will just be bruteforcing with their overinvested dps.
They released this garbage to promote ZZZ (look, we have a game with good combat) and intensify spending. I despise Mihoyo, most disgusting company i ever saw.
Most interesting part of Genshin gameplay is the team building. So anyway we removed the team building…
It’s really bad, it’s just not fun. Too much RNG on who you get and you can get stuck with characters you’ve hardly played and teams with no synergy.
im a day 1 player, i feel like 1.0 abyss is harder than this imaginarium theater.. the thing i dont like is i need 18 char built with lvl 70 requirement, heck even lvl 1 i could clear it with 1-2 character in team bruh… my suggestion is the end game should be the one event with tartaglia on inazuma, the dungeon event was much more fun and harder than this theater, even more better if its doable in coop, so u can adjust ur team with other to feel like RPG, healer, shielder, dps, or support etc..

Well, abyss challenges with random characters are popular on YouTube, so I guess Hoyoverse thought it would be nice to let everyone experience randomized abyss?
1. the stages are easy bc they are supposed to be clearable with the trial characters (lvl 80, 4star weapon 80, talents 8) AND with scuffed teams.
2. it makes recent "redundant characters" like sigewinne get more value bc IT requires you to have a lot of characters somewhat built, so more characters that are just "good enough" to help you clear makes sense.
At this point genshin player eat whatever hoyo give, rush to fight with wuwa
onething for me , i ok with new game mode but lots of it doesn't make sense like u said
1. forcefully 4 man team at all times
2. Boons effects are so weak
3. game mode pretty short and insubstantial
4. too EZ
5. team often doesn't make sense and not much freedom in trying it out with Boons.
unless they made Boons so ridiculous like Sim Verse and make game mode harder. but i think they won't other wise it better to make new gamemode and move this move this mode out of the 1 month reset and make it Permanent like SimUverse instead.
really hope the devs tries to fix it and make it better (unless its a fundamental design problem), like how they still pushing and the TCG gamemode. they have so much information on their hand whether the playerbase like something or not, it is surprising to me how they still made a new gamemode that are on the less enjoyable-mediocre side of fun

Personally I'm more annoyed by the element restriction than the vigor system, especially here. You're either playing a mono team or an overload team probably without Chevreuse. Scuffed teams can be fun if we have ways to be creative, and this was not it. At least the vigor system forces you to be strategic. But it would be better if we could chose the starting characters.
Tbf about the rate up characters, this IT will also be here during the whole duration of the next banner + a few days of the one after

I have 1 more thing to complain about this game mode you cant save energy for future compat youre stuck with 4 man team even if the other 2 does not make sense in that team
I agree. My first impression was soured cz I put my cyno and beidou in to try it out, and I realised that they had no gear and could not change it in between. Genshin incentivises using a small number of high quality artifacts (and often weapons) that you share between units. Now we will have to waste resources leveling worse pieces just to put equipment on everyone. Watch as they don't allow electro next time and make me level even more stuff.
I think part of the issue can be solved by giving us "free builds" (read: HSR divergent universe trial builds) where they put basic equipment on characters if you want, so that your leveled but unbuilt characters can be used in tandem with your good chars.
I want to add that HSR is somewhat helped by the fact that defense and HP are viable stats that can be dumped on support units to ease your build costs.
They took away my 4 extra 5 star artifact rewards for this bs?
I feel like this mode could work if instead of randomizing the characters, they gave a buff to a random elemental reaction, for example: if freeze got a 5x dmg buff, it would incentivize people to use a freeze team, it would make players have a reason to use different characters, rather than forcing them to
That being said, I still think it wouldn't be good enough because the gameplay is not that different from the abyss
Meanwhile in the official subReddit the reception is that they love it… i dont understand the average Genshin player
I like the concept. But I wish for a better result. I feel powerless while doing it.
i would have honestly even preferred if they did something like HI3's elysian realm where it's a character soloing the floors but with (sometimes) a new playstyle and major buffs, imagine maybe Yae in this mode unlocking a charged DPS playstyle

Random teams sounds fun on paper if hoyo didn't scuff most of their roster with restrictions like energy issues and other restrictions needing proper synergy with teams and their dps balanced around the same 4 year old benett and gang.

The main problem is not teams are scuffed but the challenge is still easy even with scuffed teams. It's like playing a game of cards where you have to win straight rounds using what's currently in your hand. Discard those cards after the round to get new set of cards. But the value of cards you're up against is always lower than the value of your card in hand. This might be the thing for me since I horizontally invest but I wonder if this is also the same for those who invest vertically. I think if they get lucky enough with the draws they can get to use their vertically invested characters to carry the weak roster to finish a challenge, which makes the whole point of making a coherent team being useless.
im on the opposite end with hsr modes. i cant STAND that these modes basically strongarm you into NEEDING these specific archetypes just for the gameplay of these modes to not feel like absolute slogs. oh no firefly or acheron or boothill for current AS? sucks. now you take 100+ AV longer to clear. not because of your own lack of skill as a player either, but because you simply didnt pull the characters for these team comps and are stuck with whatever you DID decide to pull for.
as for IT i just dont care cause the mode itself doesnt become artificially more difficult since it's balanced around the trials being able to clear it, unlike hsr where it's ALWAYS balanced around the current hottest thing on the block.
i can NOT stress it enough how absolutely dogshit it is to go look at MoC or PF, and see it favoring Dot while not owning kafka or anything along those lines or the absolute ridiculous disparity between playing current AS with and without firefly on the account. it is comical how fucking free it is for her while other characters just have to take decades longer. why? because you played worse as a player? no. it was because you didnt pull firefly or ruan mei to help you with break focused content.
it is genuinely insulting to me how people can see gamemodes like this that shill a SINGLE TEAM MECHANIC so hard to the point that NOT using said archetype actively just feels like complete shit. THIS is what we are praising and wanting more of in these games ? for them to lean into the overly predatory gamemode designs that basically tell players to go fuck themselves because they decided to skip particular characters?
someone is gonna say "you can still brute force" and anybody saying that, i highly advise you to double check what i said cause i never once said brute force wasnt an option. i just said it is a JOKE how wide the gap is between brute forcing and simply going LMAO pull the newest character dumbass in terms of performance.

Its only the first version. Does people remember the first abysses were with things like cryo blobs and Lawachurl ? Maybe they started low to not annoy low players ? I agree its pretty easy, I have 50+ characters built, so I dont fear any element rotations, but some friends only have very few characters ultra invested. Depending on the team you will end with, it can be very tough.

Also you are forced to use 4 character. why can't we use 1 character for lower levels. oh you wouldn't pull for more characters then.
This mode is either too easy either undoable depending on RNG. That frustrates me the most. Like the floors where I could use characters that work with each other were just too boring. And the floors with random ass teams took many tries and felt terrible. Making players play random characters in a game that's based on specific characters synergy is such a stupid idea.
And I couldn't even do the hard mode on my alt because I didn't have enough leveled characters. And I have zero want to build my Lisa or Amber just for a mode that isn't even fun to play.
Only way to make hard content in this game is making enemies bullet sponges. People who play or watch souls games will understand. coz there is no block, no parry, no dodge, only elemental reaction. and you can't make hard content based on only elemental reaction.
After trying out it for 30 mins,, i will never play this low experience easy boring asf game mode. I'd rather just go back to wuwa and farm echoes thats more fun than this whatever this is, it looks like kids level abyss. This is just disappointing
