I (kinda) bought a Vision Pro to play Genshin Impact

I bought Apple’s $4000 (after taxes for me) AR/VR headset, so of course I had to try running Genshin on it. And I figured I would trick you into seeing some of my more generalized thoughts about the Vision Pro at the same time, since it be a weird device.

I will be occasionally streaming non-genshin stuffs on my Twitch! https://www.twitch.tv/soruruna/

  1. Fun little presentation! I honestly still struggle to take the vision pro seriously, it feels like a device that 90s techbros envisioned to be the future. But I have never tried any VR like experience myself so I wont judge the use cases or experience. I however could never get behind the whole apple walled garden concept, as you said, they want you to use the device as they envisioned it, not to be free using it like you want to use it. This is an issue of most modern tech though, with maybe the steam deck as an exception.
Anyway, the market is open for a full on isekaied VR gacha experience! Probably any Rule 34 content will jump the gun first though ;P

  2. I play console games by connecting the console through HDMI and a video capture card to my laptop, so you could do that to get a bit more latency and less cables. You can just use the OBS preview to see the screen after you do this

  4. I bought an xreal to do this lmao, and it disappointed me. Beam has horrible software and FOV is too tiny. Also screen is placed too high. Too many wires too.

Sigh, I feel like that scene in Ironman where Howard Stark told Tony he’s limited by the technology of his time. We’re definitely in that stage of vr.

  5. Apple hoping people will spend $3500 to be Beta testers so that in 10 years they can charge $5000 for the real thing. Jenshin players are always ready to part with their hard earned money

  6. Surprised you didn't try using PlayCover on Mac… Is it ARM? Cuz TECHNICALLY you can use that to play on ARM devices like maybe the M2 in the Vision Pro butt… you MAY need to build it. Also Wifi6E would prob be faster than Gigabit wired. MEOW

  7. I don't think saying that you have a friend that worked on software side of vision pro is a good idea and how long he worked on it and you impling that you probably know a bit of behind the scene stuff

not sure it works on apple too but you should be able to connect a controler to the vision pro and let parsec parse it to the PC so you remove the disconnect between you doing a action and seeing it there still will be a latency but you won't feel it as much

I also hope that there will be native parsec app

  8. One thing that you could try, get some IPL glasses or something that blocks light and modify it to just cover one eye, everything you see in the vision pro should be a holographic effect based on which colours are blocked by the glasses.
